@joeglogowski thanks for the reply, think the work in the vid is amazing, I'm a heating and refrigeration mechanic, but thinking of taking a course on this art.
@dsm4life12 You would have to pay me an ungodly amount of money that would make the likes of Bill Gates envious and prove to me that she is an unrelenting and heartless bitch, promise to cover all legal fees and serve anytime in association with her demise giving me complete and utter immunity. Then sir, yes, I will do pretty concrete on your wife's ankles and toss her in the ocean.
I took up some tile from off old concrete. They had to jack hammer it off so there are some variations. Can I just go over that for a rock type finish or do I need to have it smooth?
@rwhdragonmaster I could give a shit about the music or explaining what the hell I am doing to the concrete. Out of business for almost 2 full years now, but still one of the highest hit decorative concrete videos on you tube.
@joeglogowski cool stuff bud. Sorry business is bad in the states. I do concrete in Ottawa Canada and we are still doing good. You would be very busy up here. People would pay huge coin for your work. good luck man.
look through the comments, someone has put who it is, it was just a free song I put on here cause they made me take off the really good music the video was set to due to copyright crap.
I love this video, and the song!!!! It's not my usual style of music but DANG its so cathcy, and my concrete needs "5 minutes" of love making to it : )
Awesome, we went out of business about a year ago. BMJ design is in your area, Bobby and Tenya are great people and do super work. They may be more $ than the others, but well worth it.
The music is friggen hilarious. Great video--wish there was a little more instruction. Regardless, my fiance and I immediately got the humor with the music -- too funny.
Thank you, I just picked the most obnoxious free use music I could find after they took off my soundtrack. I never intended it to be instructional however as I was in the business of doing it for money, I wanted to charge, not teach.
I agree, it just so happened I had the perfect music for this video, unfortunately it got removed by youtube so I just picked the most ridiculous music I could find in the library of approved files, I had 3 great tunes that really fit but liscensing......
FANTASTIC work! I am glad to see that you disregard all the comments about the music. I worked in radio so I know about the legailities of what music you can use. I hate to hear that you are selling your business. Did you ever think of partnering with a custom home builder and have the cement work done prior to it ever being sold? I can see how it would increase the value of any home. You are an artist, sir. The very best of luck to you.
Thank you, I talked to alot of custom home builders and really didn;t have a ton of luck with that, just ended up doing work on their personal homes most of the time.
I know this is late, but perhaps you could have had the new home owner pick out a design and finance it with the house..making it much more affordable, or sellable. I wish I could do this. Care to teach me?
yep, might not be too late for the new owners of the business. It is now for sale, I had an opportunity to be hired by a great company and could not resist. Concrete Illusions is for sale to the first $33,500 that gets posted to my bank account. Every tool, picture, this video as well as EAC training included
Oh well, they finally shut down my sounds. I picked about the most ridiculous song to audio swap with. If you don't like it, just turn off your speakers.
wanting to go down a different avenue with my life. Need the stability of a large company. It's a great opportunity to run a business such as this one, just not for me. I was real good at the istallation and customer service end, even sales end but I am apparently not a marketer or I am just in the wrong geography..
oh, your right..... Maybe I should have backed it up with a little "Cannibal Corpse" or maybe even "Slayer" or perhaps it would have been more to your tastes had I popped in a little "Wham!" or even beter, "culture club" That would have had you squeelin!!
No, just anything less cheesy. This music represents you, and your work, you should find something suited to a wider audience, maybe an instrumental piece. It makes me feel like your work may be as outdated as your music.
The funny thing is I know my target demographic, This is their music. I am not trying to reach 25yr olds. But, in 40,000 hits this is the first time I have had anyone even give a rats butt about the music. But thank you, considering the Eagles, ELO, and Billy Joel are American Icons, I will take it as a compliment.
As I said, I have jobs that are 4 years old, look like they were done recently. These jobs see over 100 degrees in the summer and -30 windchills in the winter, shovels, ice and snow. Still look great. You can etch all you want as long as you nuetralize the acid and use a quality sealer.
Joe, the floors are EXTRAORDINARY!! I put your video in my favorites months ago because I was working on my floors. I come back to it quite often because of the FUN SONG!!! Totally love it!!!
I've been looking into this. The house we are buying has nasty old carpet that deserves to be burned in some spectacular fashion. Underneath, is just a boring old concrete slab. I work in construction management and a lot of our clients choose a concrete stain for their retails spaces. On every website I've looked at, nobody posts an average cost per square foot. I would dearly love to have a basic idea! I LOVE these ideas, but my hubby want more damned flea-ridden carpet :-(
That is becasue there really is no average cost per square foot. Depending on who you have do the work and the quality you are after you can figure in the 3-5 ball park for basic stain and seal no pattern and it goes up from there depending on sealers used, prep work needed, pattern and design engraved. I usually range anywhere from 4-9 per square foot and custom pricing on custom designs.
AWESOME! I have been a painter for years and have kicked around getting into concrete for a few years. Seeing this makes me more certain than ever, though I am sure there is a steep learning curve. That is beautiful work.
Yes, there is quite a bit of difference in painting a wall and staining concrete and the real curve comes in when it is time to do the engraving. Fortunately you are ahead of the game because you know the importance of surface prep and I would imagine some pretty fancy faux finishing techniques.
move to LA learn a bit about the more contemporary and modern styles of concrete staining, which are (to my opinion) much easier then the ones you showed on your video and laugh all the way to the bank
That is class work sir, i wish we had you in the UK
