  • Why the hell is THIS on YT but not Little Red Riding Hood??

  • Oups - always thought Bryan Ferry was this song's author!! But actually I like Bryan's version better... Pardon me.

  • this makes me want to get naked

  • 0:44 Austin Powers

  • Jesus, this is just....wow.....*speechless*

  • wow, that bass line is incredible!

  • Arthur Browns version is my favorite.

  • вечный сингл

  • I just feel like howling!

  • ma se... una band come gli Animals avesse avuto i mezzi tecnici di adesso, quali meraviglie ci avrebbe regalato, oltre a quelle che già ci hanno dato?

  • No, Eric, I love you. I don't care if no one else in my high school has heard of you. :)

  • Sorry folks, this song belongs to CCR.

  • @allivegp hell yes, this is a good band but CCR are just amazing

  • actually it was originally done by Jay Hawkins. Nobody has ever been able to capture the same feeling of mystery and fright as he did in the original version. Although, I do enjoy both CCR and The Animals' versions, no doubt.

  • @allivegp Screamin' Jay Hawkins created this song. Although, CCR really made it mesmerizing.

  • @MissMinnieMoocher I'm going to check Jay's right now. You're right CCR's is probably the best; nevertheless, Marilyn Manson did it right, too. H'm... Miss Moocher? ...a Cab Calloway fan perhaps? I'd like to hear good covers of Viper Drag & Reefer Man, eh?

  • ну как же,сколько в живых осталось моих ровесников....а если молодежь помнит и слушает,то это здорово..

  • Eric Burden = i eternaly love

....im 16, is that bad? lol

  • @XxXmysexiscursedXxX not really, i'm 23 and i've heard a thousand girls talk about being infatuated with some obscure musician that nobody else their age is going to know about.. or old school actors or athletes. its not bad. just you forming ideals about men. its like you have the safest boyfriend in the world because he's dead now or old and can never change, and then later in life you'll look for men with his characteristics and qualities.

  • @XxXmysexiscursedXxX It just means you know good music!

  • Такая забытая группа!!!

  • @TheObserver48

Кем же это забытая ?! ..... интересно.....:)

  • This song sounds so sexual with Eric's amazing voice

  • CCR = better

  • My choice R & B band from ever. And the best I PUT PELL ON YOU version of the history. Note the instruments in a difficult polirhythm ending, and Eric wanderfull as ever.

  • i don't get what has justin bieber to do with this song???you don't like like justin is ok,but there are some people out there that they do and you can't do anything about it,so you better shut it and enjoy this great song!

  • i like ccr live cover better. the one that's 10 minutes long. otherwise, they're equal i think.

  • Hawkins and CCR did it better.

  • @TheDanzigFreak Nah... not better. Just "different". This is a little more classic blues from CCR

  • @KatiHasIssues Why don't you go voice that opinion on Marilyn Manson's video then?

  • @heywhatnoway I never said i hated this version, just prefer manson, this is a good version too.

  • @KatiHasIssues Ever heard Nina Simone's version? She brings some spice too. But they're all different styles. Yeah, I like Manson's too.

  • His voice actually belied his looks.

  • whoa... i feel possessed right not O_O ♥♥♥♥♥♥

eric burdon is without a doubt the best and most distinctive rock blues singer! and sexy to :)

  • The heavy- sixteen

A good song with the same music, but not lyrics! ^^

  • Eric's voice was so memorizing, and so frigging sexy- I wish them days were still here, oh man, oh man!

  • @mpharn im a man. i even wish i had his voice.

  • Good version. I like Manson's too.

  • Superb!

  • I love the Animals, but the only cover of this I've heard by a white band that really boasts intensity even close to Screamin' Jay's frickin' voodoo is Fogerty and CCR's.

  • Good version, but nobody comes close to CCR's.

  • @london2z Or Arthur Brown's.

  • @london2z Screamin' Jay Hawkins is the orginal and the best

  • @dudemaister96 Can't argue that. Eric's good but I think CCR's is a little better. Guess it's just a matter of taste.

  • nina simone

  • Natacha who? Listen to the original, Screaming Jay Hawkins or at least listen to Nina Simone and then come to your senses

  • Natacha Atlas version is all times the best, i suggest you to listen right now

  • Love tha animals

  • fucking A

  • TRY LISTENING TO JOE COCKERS VERSION,ITS A KNOCKOUT.

  • @drjazzisme it is the best for me!

  • * * * * *

  • Crap

  • This is real shitty version!!!! Original classic by screaming jay Hawkins can never be sampled and remastered by NO 1!!!!

  • @dkaerics This one isn't too bad, but personally Tab Benoit does this one superbly! Sorry, Screamin' Jay has a style I'm not really into although it's very good!

  • this is real R&B.

  • The original was Screamin' Jay Hawkins on Okeh in 1956.

  • This man, Eric, is so sexy! The way he looks out of the slits of his eyes while he's doing his magic??? No one can do this man justice!

  • wowww... good version. sooo many people did this song. nina simone.. joe cocker.. joss stone.. the animals.. CCR..

  • who did this song first, CCR or the Animals?

  • First I find CCR's version and now The Animals...I feel like I'm re-discovering music !!

tnx so much for the upload! :)

  • love the ending! Fuck ya thats energy u love 2 give

  • i came on utube to just upload one of eric's song. that was3 hours ago. you just can't break away from that voice. discovered some tunes i had not heard. i haven't even taken a break for a smoke. heart, soul and some blues in his blood. what a great mix it made.

  • ‎*imaginary smoke song*

  • He put a spell on me :3 with his voice :3

  • I agree .....it's great!!!

  • Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh!

  • They put a spell on us... And we would never forget them.

  • he does not get recognition of even cliff richard and eric burden has more talent in his little finger and is not a bible bashing virgin bore

  • The big voice belongs to mr. Eric Burdon him self. Volaa

  • what a voice... damn good!

  • You sure did put a spell on me!! I melt everytime i hear this.

  • what a rare present..a black voice and that feeling in a white man.

    30.05.2011 leguan2408

  • @leguan2408 the original song is from a blues writer so is house of the rising sun and good night irene.

  • @thedollhouse10 i put a spell on you was originally done by screamin' jay hawkins, and house of the rising sun and good night irene was originally done by leadbelly.

  • Everyone does this song so well, Animals, CCR, David Gilemore, and I think the original is Screamn' Jay

  • @RonaldHyatt "i'd sooner accuse" someone who talks like you to be a pretentous faggott. suck my balls!

  • Good but CCR's version is the best

  • could you all now shut up about justin bieber and enjoy?

Whats the point? Be happy all those blinded kids listen to Justin and you have the good music for your own.

  • @inMorpheusRealm

well said... btw whats the name of the lead singer?

  • Beautiful.

  • Eric: Justin....

    Justin: Yes Eric?

Eric: I want to kill you....

  • ohhh superb....

  • One of the greats of early rock and roll. What a voice and still going strong!!!!

  • LA VERSION DE MES 16 ANS!!!!!!

  • Alan Prices' (solo) version live is one performance truly for the ages

  • Grea , great tune, but nothing beats the Alan Price (original keyboardist) Sets' version, no way, that is one of the alltime greatest white blues bands tune, tho this aint far behind

  • Sorry, no match for CCR!

  • @donnr11 i like the hollies version best

  • Yeah right, Nina Simone, Manfred Mann, Joe Cocker, etc. etc. etc.

I guess Arthur Brown takes the cake with his studio version ! -

Not the live versions ! - They suck !

  • i thought this was CCR !?

  • @killuminati63 originally screaming jay hawkins not ccr ;)

  • @killuminati63 Creedance did do it too...along with a long list of others

  • @BoxingMadLad a long long list of others

  • Great . . .

  • Did Eric Burdon go to Hogwarts? XD

  • There is a hypnotice effect to this. It's excellent

  • awesome ;)

  • I just love when he says "I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you anyhow" and the end part from 2:45 to 2:54. What a great voice!!!

  • They were a little scary for the under 21 crowds like when they played at Baker Beach a beach venue that was kept spectacularly dark in the sixties but the venue was open to the under 21 crowd.

  • hooooooooo yes! \m/

  • Alan Price released his own version days after the animals did and what a stark contrast. The animals are deep and soulful and alan was well....laurence welk without bubbles. Guess Alan really didn't fit past 1966.

  • 'i love you, i love you, i love you, i love you, i love you, i love you oh baby how and i don't care you don't want me' i gave this to my love and i failed unfortunately :)

  • @coolbrunette777 how the hell can you hate the original..so much soul and the best version

  • omg i love this

  • In the USA, this was the last track on the LP Animalization and included a later line-up than that of the early line-up shown on the clip: Barry Jenkins had replaced John Steele on drums and Dave Rowberry had replaced Alan Price on keyboards. Only the members of the early line-up received intrance into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. However, Jenkins and Rowberry played magnificently on many of the Animals' later hits and albums. The last chorus/ending on this 'Spell' version rivals anybodys.

  • What a bass line by Chas Chandler. He went on to manage Jimi Hendrix Experience.

  • great cover

  • Love Eric's "thug shot" pic 2:40-2:48. Too tough! :-)

  • He has the most soul I've ever heard.

  • Eric Burdon amazing. I love this song.

  • It is the most sexy version of that song..!!

  • i worship at the altar of the great god eric

  • Check out the cover of the 1960's garage/psychedelic rock band The Druids of Stonehedge. It's very similar to Hawkin's original version.

  • ccr omg who did it first i'd die to go back tho this era 40s 50s 60s 4eva

  • Ottima versione di un famosissimo brano, Eric è formidabile ::))

  • Creedence totaly owned that song one of the best covers ever

  • @0live0wire0 Credence did a great cover on this song and Alan Price did a great cover and made full use of the Hammond.. The two best ever covers. Both brilliant in their own way

  • I love the animals. but seriously did all of hits have to be covers? they are an excellent band, the erics voice is awesome, but no original content?!?!?!

  • i love this version of the song.. end eric burdon voice..

  • Great version! Fantastic.

  • Fabulous!

  • this is fantastic, his voice is superb..love this thanks =] ♥

  • why do i suddenly feel so possesed?

  • @electricprunes IT'S THE POWER OF ROCK AND ROLL

  • I think I've liked every version of this song I've heard. They are so different.

  • Couldn't agree more.

  • Eric Burdon is the best white blues singer ever. And sounds like a 50yr old black man at 20yrs. old. As far as white blues singers sounding black lets not forget the great Greg Allman and Steve Marriott.

  • When it comes to Blue Eyed Soul Mitch Ryder is hard to beat.

  • Others in that group are David Clayton Thomas, Arthur Brown and Stevie Winwood.

  • How could I forget Stevie Winwood? But I knew I couldn't fit all my favorites so I picked three.I just love Eric's take on all the old blues classics the Animals did/do.

  • @frankty67 jim morrison. and stop if you going to get anti-pop\ mainstream with me, because if you listen morrison in Backdoor Man, you crap yourself out.

  • Wooow, sooo sexy! Eric the BEST!

  • i closed my eyes... and listened... Jesus.. the sexiest voice i've ever heard (not taking Hatfield's into consideration).

  • His voice.. Pure sexy.

  • In my opinion , Eric Burdon made one of his best performances on this song !

  • Eric puts a spell on me <3 its all that voice

  • Stop comparing as to which rendition it better than the other. Take them all as one artist;'s approach to an age old classic that will live forecer because it is such a classic. If you have to think about who was the best, think about WHO WAS THE FIRST? THAT is what I would like to know. WHO was the original? Who wrote this tune? THAT is who is important, not who is better at it . . .

  • screaming jay hawkings, he was the first i think, he's awesome, but eric is fine too.

  • screamin jay hawkins

  • God dude,I agree with you 100%.I pull up lots of Beatle videos too and people do the same. Again it goes back to apples and oranges.Which is better?I say take every version for what it is and enjoy it all.

  • @frankty67 EXACTLY. Whether I'm listening to the Animals, The Doors, The Kinks, CCR, the Whom or the Beatles etc.. people have this strange desire to make this into a competition. Just enjoy the amazing music of the 1960's, they were all great.

  • Yeah thats what I say, enjoy all the great 60s music because there will never be an era so potent (in such a short amount of time) full of killer bands and musicians. Why they make a competition out of it and even start swearing and put downs is just fucked, and immature.Rock on!!!

  • The best version from ever. Note the polirhyms in the end, very difficult.

The Animasl were from ever my choice band. Willy. Argentina

    Clubagogo1234

  • ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

    adorei !! :)

  • Nothing like Eric Hes so Awsome

  • Eric has such an UNREAL vocal range!

(Which is why you never hear covers of Animals songs.)

  • sounds better than most of the Spell On You covers I've heard. CCR's version has way too much generic-blues-lick wankery BTW

  • Eric has the best voice England has ever produced, that's the fact + my opinion. If you don't believe it recherche on the net. And this is also the most impressive and heaviest version. Marylin Manson can't do a heavier version, cause he hasn't the voice to do it better than Eric...

  • I Agree Marylin Manson isnt clasified as a musician (I believe) so he gots nothin on eric lol marylins one of the many in this horrible music era were thiers TO many bad bands and popular music on the radio.

  • I don't really see the comparison.

I really like Marilyn Manson, though it's obvious that Eric's voice is much MUCH MUCH MUCH better technically. In their own ways they're both very talented. Yes Manson is commercial and bases is character on shock value, but before labelling him as a radio friendly singer, listen to Antichrist Superstar, Mechanical Animals and Holy Wood albums. Incredible lyrics and concept.

And his voice has a big emotional depth.

So stop whining about who's best.

  • you clearly have no understanding of good music!

  • Go shut up, and change your diaper you little prick.

  • Comment removed

  • you should hear david gilmour n mica paris version a lot better a lot better

  • CCR is bad quality and bad peformance, but best version of the song..

  • makes no sense at all

  • When you could sing like this you won't search after sense anymore....

  • this one is good but hawkins puts all of them to shame, his voice is crazy

  • This version is pretty good, the animals always have an awesome sound.. but you cant beat screamin jay scare-the-shit-out-of-your-household version

  • Their versions of "Hit the Road Jack" and "Halleulijia I Just Lover Her So" are just amazing too.Eric Burden is unreal.

  • what bout alan prices version?

    this sounds great

  • sympatoche

  • This version is very soulful and experimental. The Animals' and Screamin Jay Hawkins' version are my favorites.

  • Burdon's voice is much harder than their voices.

  • I love Eric Burdon's voice.

  • put screaming jay hawkins in the vocals but leave the rest the same

that shit will cut u like a knife

  • This version of the songs better than the screamin jay hawkins version, but thats just my opinion
