Sheesh, Ci on a barbie or a gi joe? that is pure audism.. What the heck are you doing to Deafhood? Thats a sick thing to do to even a baby or a child, and this is the most selfish thing people can do. What is wrong with letting a child embrace Deaf Culture and Language to become a real human being! Stop Audism! Ci's is falsehood, and none had became interprters for the Deaf anyway, therefore it is all a sham! Why don't you get an implant then, and see how you feel without your permission?
@Bunjer can't say I agree with a word you said. your comment suggests that CI users aren't "real human beings". There's nothing wrong with using CI's. Likewise, there's nothing wrong with refusing to use CI's. it's a personal choice. don't demonize CI uders. Every member of the Deaf community should be embraced and supported, regardless of whether they choose to undergo the implant procedure or not. claiming that using CI's is Audism is an insult to actual cases of discrimination.
@yulyu No permisson, IMPLANTS on babies and children, or even young teenagers will not help a person communicate 100%, and my gosh, even with an oral interpreter sheesh! CI's won't even help people become fuctional as a human hearing being, Falsehood is tatamount to mental and physical abuse! CI's not the cure for a person to become a normal fuctional hearing person. Get through your thick skull the facts, not falsehood! Humane is ASL and Bilingualism. Stop that quackery snake oil business!
@Bunjer i'm sorry but are you a native english speaker? I'm asking because I'm having some difficulty deciphering your message. CI users are still members of the deaf community. The use of CI's isn't meant to help users "pass" as hearing. as for parents who choose to have their children undergo the procedure, I feel like they're jumping the gun. CI's should be offered to those who are over the age of consent. however, families who have their children undergo the procedure are not abusive.
@Bunjer I'd also like to point out that CI's aren't meant to replace ASL as a means of communication. all members of the Deaf community should be embraced, not guilt-tripped into their decision to use CI's are have their children undergo the procedure. There are some schools that are even incorporating CI's into their educational programs. but in the end I suppose we're entitled to our opinion.
Thanks so much for sharing this! I am an ASL Toy Inventor who is struggling to get my toys patented so that they may be marketed. I agree sign language toys are necessary in the enviroment of deaf, HH, Autistic, and hearing babies. So any parents are signing with their babies and it cuts down on frustration between preverbal hearing babies and their parents. ASL is the 3rd leading language in USA. Anyone with business development skills or interest in assisting me feel free to contact. Thanks.
cool idea. i'm not deaf, i don't know anyone who is deaf, but i want to learn asl. just cuz. and i think the asl toys are a great idea, it wouldn't affect me in the least, but i still think you are right.

I watch a TV show called Signing Time that teaches ASL vocabulary to hearing children.
I'm working on making a board game for it.
I also just got my Cabbage Patch Kid baby fitted with pipecleaner hearing aids. They're on now. :)
