Brings back great memories of the fantastic Radio Caroline. Nothing has ever come near since. Radio 1 was such a poor copy when it launched. They should have left the Pirates to do what they did best.. Why do Goverments work against the people they are supposed to represent..
@midsaint776 afterlee is quite correct insofar as the B side of the the record playing in my video - Rinky Dink by the Johnny Howard Band - is Java. The version of Java used as the closing theme for Vision On was by Pete Winslow.
@m13618 Yes-and I`ll tell you another DJ that does it- Ron Coles on his JukeBox Giants Show every Sunday on Mansfield 103.2 between 5 and 7pm UK time-one I NEVER miss-but inevitably he goes up to the top of the hour with an instrumental-and NEVER says what it was when he comes back after the news. The last one I spotted was by The Champs-The Bristol Stomp! Its GREAT-but I had to research the group and title myself!!
found it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thank you so so so so much! Like one previous person, I've been looking for this version of the tune for at least a couple of decades - all I could find before was the Dave thingy one, and i knew that wasn't it.
Yes ..... Sounds Inc also a brill version. One of the first tunes I played in a rock 'n' roll band, so very nost for me. throovest. Still play Nut Rocker even now!!!!
I've been searching for this for over 20 years and never knowing what it was called made it almost impossible. It was only after Sounds Of The Sixty's on Radio2 with Brian Matthews played it last Saturday that I discovered the name. The reason I've been trying to track it down is that it was the music used on the warm-up lap at Northampton Stadium where I was a mechanic for a BRISCA F1 Stock Car driver.....Just brought back memories of lying in mud and rain soaked pit areas enjoying myself :o)
The same thing happened to me. I also heard it on Sounds of the Sixties and the last time I heard it played was on Radio Caroline. Those were the days LOL
i used to work on the fence team at long eaton stadium . and remember their rolling lap tune was cruel sea by the dakotas for the brisca f1's , and beatnik fly by johnny and the hurricanes for the bangers . the track sadly long gone , but great memories as that's how and where i started banger racing , many years ago , great times and memories !
@Smeemick .., well, Brian M played it again ths morning , only this time it was Dave "Baby" Cortez , think I was eleven first time round ( great stuff )
@schuller51 Thanks for that....I was listening this morning but somehow managed to miss it. Still, I can catch-up and have a listen later on the iPlayer eh ?? It's just one of those tunes that forever sticks in your head with fond memories :o)
This record also got played a lot at banger and stock car racing circuits around the UK, usually just before the start....then Mouldy Old Dough kicks in!
The great Johnny Howard Band of The Tottenham Royal days !! Tom Lodge featured this track as his signature tune all the while he was on Radion Caroline - 199.
Have to say it's one of my all time favourite instrumental tunes.
..., your welcome,

Hehey! :D I wasn't even born when this came out but I have the same record. Albeit a bit scratch these days.
Side B of Java, also by the J. Howard Band.
I don't know why, but at the tender age of 6 this song and Java both had a profound effect on me.
I still have the record to this day. :)
