really cool stuff man been watching some of your videos, HHO seems like a pretty good idea and im thinking about putting one in my 13 mpg jeep, but i noticed you have a diesel, why not just use vegetable oil that you could get for for pennies a gallon at local restraunts, no upgrades necesarry, you could use an external tank and install a switch if you really wanted to go from diesel to veggie oil on a cold start. just an idea
one thing i like. The Edge Juice with Attitude CTS controller. I have a 6inch lift on 37" toyo open country. 6speed manual with stock rear end sterling 10.5. anyway i got about 11-12 mpg before chip. one milage setting i get about 23-25 mpg on average everywhere i go on the freeway. in the hills i get about 16-19 depending on how much gas i give. not to bad for me.
@kklein41291 I think that you are referring to the PID temperature controller. If so yes it works very well. I have not used the control features yet but it works very well as a EGT gauge. A blue warning light comes on at what ever max temp you set. I have it set to 1250F.
yeah, those chips are not all that.... I've got a 2002 with Ram-Air, str8 thru exhaust, banks turbo and a 6 position bully dog chip.... the chips just trick the truck into thinking it needs more air\fuel and although you will see extreme boosts in power, you won't see much better mpg's. especially if you're getting on it.. The chips will also wear out your stock torque converter rather quickly due to the new-found power... be careful with the chips unless ur gonna build more up to take the power
Get some custom tunes, like TW, PHP, beans, Swamps, etc. youll see better mileage than other canned tunes, better power when in higher power modes, tranny is taken to account where its not in canned tunes, and you will also see a reduction in EGT. custom tunes are the way to go with PSD's.
urbex2007: you must not know much... i have 06 duramax and with stock tuning i was getting 12.5 MPG (around town) i put on my edge evo race tuner and am now getting around 17 MPG around town and it blows black smoke.....
Let me reveal a small thing about those "performance/MPG" chips. If you deal with a car or a truck of this kind then you might consider an upgrade, however the difference will not make a buck. You might get a 3% increase out of something like that. But if you deal with sophisticated cars like a BMW or Lexus then those cars already have the best chip and putting something like this will only mess up the system.
thats a piece of junk chip, too much wirs to hook up,no trans tuning,no shift on the fly,and most of all no custom tuning.Get a DP tuner and be done with it.Also those boots from ITP are top of the line but not needed for the chip cause that chip will not make enough boost to blow them off.you are not fixing the problem with the boots, you have to do the cheap ccv mod which reroutes the blow by from the engine to underneath the truck bed.If you do that your intercooler and boots will be oil free.
change out your gears you got 410 gear ratio, for better fuel millage you want a 354 got the same truck 02 i got 100hp injectors 140hp chip diablo sport 4in magnaflow exhaust short can airaid intake.was getting round 27mpg on straight diesel with 354 gear ratio then truck got wrecked and converted it in to a dually with 410 ratio now getting round 22mpg
How can a device that causes MORE fuel to be injected, resulting in black smoke from unburnt fuel, be using less? Are you genuinely thick? You have fallen for advertising aimed at dummies. By using that device you are DAMAGING your engine. Use at your own risk and damage your engine.
Hi urbex2007: The Dr Performance chip did not cause black smoke from the exhaust even when I put the hammer down. Surprisingly it did increase my fuel mileage a little bit, just not as much as the advertisement said it would. It did increased the power of the engine a lot. I'm talking burn all four rear tires and press you back into the seat power. The problem was that it pushed the EGTs too high (more than 1250F). I returned it for a refund.
@mars1952 an exhaust will NOT cause black smoke, it was from the chip. Im a Ford diesel technician for nearly 6 years, and ive worked on MANY trucks with completely straight pipe exhausts with no black smoke....only a chip with do that (among other major mods I.E. injectors, pumps etc...)
@urbex2007 mars is correct, the truck accelerates easier and results in you having to give it less gas to get to speed. i cruise with mine in 100hp setting all the time and been getting 22-24mpg on highway. good informative videos mars! my truck has 251k miles too so i dont think its harming it at all ;)

Hello atvrider0009: I have no idea what exactly you are talking about. Perhaps if you would spell out your words, use capitalization, use punctuation and organize your word into sentences I could better understand your critique and benefit from your wisdom.
I'm saying if your just going to leave it in there like that get in done by someone that does it for a living.. So it is just not threw in there if your going to up grade make it look good man...
Hi Again: I'm sorry I got so testy in my first reply. I am guessing you are talking about the DR Performance chip fooler. Believe it or not I installed it exactly as the directions showed. Since I was just testing the chip and I thought that I might have had to return it I didnt shorten any wires or change it in any way. As it turned out I did return the chip for credit. Continued:
Continues: If I had kept it I would have neatened things up some. The piece of white tubing that extends across the engine is part of an HHO prototype. It will be replaced when I put in the next version. I had to snake the tubing from the bed to the air intake. I started with a 20 long piece and it turned out to be just a little short for a neat install.
P.S. After slamming into the 500 character limit on just about every comment that I post I am beginning to see the advantages of texting abbreviations.
Hello Blackmamba1997: Thank for the encouragement. I returned the DR Performance chip and received full credit. The transmission in this truck needs to be beefed up and I plan to do that soon.
By powerstrokehelper I assume that you mean YouTubes powerstrokehelp . I have found Wills advice to be generally sound and I really appreciate all of the free advice that he has given away on YouTube and his web site.
I agree with mars, Bill @ powerstrokehelp is awesome. I've met him, and been in his shop. He spends the time to make a lot of useful vids for people to view for free. He's "old school" in some ways as some describe him. But that's what makes him fun to watch. Plus, he has the years of experience to back up what he's doing.
Have you run the HHO yet? I have a 96 power stroke and have done a bit of HHO in it. I was getting approx. 2 mpg better than just diesel. I am thinking that I needed to find something to retard the timing a bit.
we got a 03 f350 dually with the 7.3 in it and we can hit 17 with tunnel cover, 4" exhaust from turbo back, and edge evolution reprogrammer in performance. that is a great balance of power and fuel. the reprogrammer has race, tow and stock options to if you dont like performance.
i'm looking to buy a 1999 f250 7.3 with 86k miles.... my question is if its already had the water pump replaced in it does that suggest the engine has been ran too hard and might need work to other engine components like valves
how much diesel could you buy with all the money you spent on parts. I'm sorry, I love diesel performance, but if you care that much about MPG and savings it's cheapest to leave it stock unless you plan on putting 200,000 on the truck in a short period of time.
enjoy the performance, don't kid yourself with MPG
Hello fordrac1ng81: To me saving fuel is a matter of principle. Even if I figure my labor as free I will probably never recoup the money I have spent on this project. However, I have increased my MPG and consequently I am sending less money to greedy bastards and people that hate the USA. This project was never about increasing performance the stock truck has plenty of power.
The truck came with a trip computer that show the average MPG. But I calculate the MPG by dividing the miles driven by the gallons used. I top off the tank to the rim for each MPG test.
Hi najaman100: I have a K&N installed and I plan on installing a Tymar Air Filter Mod. a tymar mod is a giant semi air filter that you install yourself.
with the combination of exhaust and air filter you will gain some hp and fuel economy .depending how heavy is your foot on the pedal .after you install the kit do a mpg test with and without hho .
the dr performance is basically a boost fooler and it changes a few settings on ur computer and injection
