  • 1:18 Does it fucking matter what they are? Run for it!!

  • FILTHY FUCKING GERMANS

  • The flames are all long gone, but the pain lingers on. Goodbye, blue sky.

  • LOS!

  • @yogifalkmybitch get a life saddo.

  • Actually, since we talk about, what was a difference between Luftwaffe Heinkel-111, and the one built in Spain, apart from country of origin?

  • @Wykletypl They had British merlin engines in them lol

  • The Dirty Filthy German Scum Burn in Hell you German Cunts

  • @yogifalkmybitch dont forget the english too.

  • @darkredyanderelord The English are the finest people on Gods earth

  • @yogifalkmybitch mee admit the dresde and india genocide and theres no problem...

  • this film is epic :)

  • 2:42 you can see the look on the bomber's crews faces...even they know that this was not the right thing to do

  • Apagar a China!?!?, Não conte com isso

  • Do your worst Hiter, And we shall do our best- Winston Churhill.

  • John Lennon joked that whenever he was in Europe, he liked to fly home on Lufthansa, because all the pilots knew the quickest way back to London.

  • did london turn into the sun during that bombing

  • you know what pisses me off? how theres ALWAYS racial bigotry in all videos with scenes from war movies. hell, in all videos in general. i wish people would just shut the fuck up and enjoy the video.

  • As far as I can remember they had 12 of the Spanish He111 and 6 of the Me 109's And there was very little trick photography of the kind we have today. Remember this was 1969. If I am not mistaken the last HE111 which was destroyed in a crash in the USA as you correctly record was one of the Spanish ones.

  • The best airforce in history !

  • @prinzeugen7 Best air force in history? Who's? Germany's or Britain's? I think you are wrong with either as your answer. I would put the US Air Force from 1943 to present as by far the greatest air force in world history. No other had the capabilities the USAF has now. Even if every military force in the US was eliminated except the USAF, America could still deliver death and destruction on an unimaginable scale to hundreds of millions. Perhaps we should wipe out the Middle East, China & Mexico!

  • What happened to the 32 Heinkels? They would have been about 14 years old at that time, and 14 year-old cars and planes are usually considered junk, so they all would have gone to the scrap yard, I'll bet.

  • What are those stupid kids doing there naked right before the bombardment!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I would so much like to bomb the London Borough of Newham day and night.

  • Ironically, the buildings shown burning by the Thames, were just about the only ones not destroyed in that area during the war. Now they were demolished for the cameras. But, they would anyhow have been torn down.

  • No they ain't, they're 'einkles!

  • How many airworthy (Spanish built) Heinkel 111's were available for the making of this film? I counted five in one particular shot, but that could be down to trick cinematography. What I do know is the last airworthy Heinkel 111 was destroyed in a crash a few years back

  • @Strawberry7Lynn I think they had a pretty decent number, and had several Heinkels in some shots of the film. There are couple of times, like when the Luftwaffe flies over Goering, that I Think they used film trickery, but most of the time I think it was a real number.

  • @Strawberry7Lynn At least 16 "Heinkels" are seen in the air at one time. There were 32 Heinkels, all in all, but all weren't airworthy.

  • @Strawberry7Lynn 32, according to wikipedia.

  • It looks like they are bombing every single building in London in just one night! Look at the fire

  • You cant blame the soldiers for what they did. You got to blame their leader.

If the leader bombed a place, would you blame the soldiers? no.

  • I presume that this clip shows the raid on London on the 29th December 1940. The Germans chose this night as they knew the level of the Thames would be low and this would make getting the water to fight the fires much more difficult as most of the water mains in the city had been broken. This is also the night when St Pauls Cathederal was saved when all around burned.

  • that's pretty good for how old this film is how they show the bombs exploding quite well done chaps!

  • exaclty thats what im saying too everybody whines about how dresden was not right and waaaaa waaa waaaa poor souls but for flip sake they come over here and bomb london we deserve revenge....and what revenge we got hahahaha

  • Man, all my respect goes out to the Brits. They really hung on, despite all the odds, and came out on top. Good job from America

  • I flew out of Biggin Hill aerodrome yesterday, and, looking at the big field in front of the modern runway, I could picture the spitfires and hurricanes taking off in August 1940 to meet the bloody German attack planes. The thought of all those brave young men, many of whom gave their lives so that Britain could be free, brought tears to my eyes. "Never in the field of human combat. . . ."

  • These boys guessing if those were were Heinkels or Messerschmids?! WTF?! These times are over forever.

  • check out eddie izzards act about WW2. Funny stuff.

"Czecoslavakia, poland, france... Russian Front, not a good idea...

...Hitler never played risk when he was a kid!"

  • Ah yes, I remember that bit.

"Because you could never keep Ukraine!"

  • @FaqHunter But I think risk was developed from examining Hitler's actions

  • and no arctic convoys to russia, no italian front. and with us out, america would never have got involved with germany. imagine the d-day armarda attempting to cross the atlantic. so that would have left europe under the yoke of communism or fascism indefinitely.

  • So would those kids be in more danger from German bombs, falling AA, or swimming in the Thames?

  • Thames ahaa

  • For what it's worth, the burning docks are actually St Katherine's docks by Tower Bridge. In '69 they were about to be partially demollished prior to re-development so the film makers were able to set them alight (again, 29 years after the Blitz) to get the scenes needed. This is all explained in the 'extras' DVD when you buy the Battle of Britain DVD special edition.

  • @kiddlesk Thanks, cool fact!

  • One of many of Hitler's blunders--it gave the Brits time to rebuild and it strengthened their resolve. If the Brits hadn't have won that battle it would have spelled doom for everybody.

  • Indeed! By FAILING to defeat Britain, Hitler lost the war. That was essentially Churchill's position.

  • Not exactly. Hitler lost the war by attacking the Soviets BEFORE defeating the British. With Britain out of the war there would have been no Balcans, no Africa. No need to divert resources for other fronts.

Luckly Hitler never took Bismark tip, "one enemy on one front".

  • bfahren, Your position, mine and Churchill's are NOT mutually exclusive. Yes --he attacked the Soviet Union before he defeated the British and, I believe, that's consistent with what I wrote. Indeed, by failing to defeat Britain, he failed to remove the obstacles you named, and by failing to remove those obstacles, i.e, by failing to defeat Britain, he lost the war.

  • @bfahren even if Hitler had taken England, the British would still have fought on from india and her other colonies. and i believe the US would have "secretly" supported them, giving repairs and naval bases.

  • Without England, there would have been no base to launch an offensive on France. Also there would have been no English army except those units already deployed in India, Africa and the Middle East. Not to mention no RAF, no bombing campaign on Germany, less convoys to the Soviet Union, freedom of operation for the U-Boats...

  • i think the US navy would have gotten fed up sooner, and struck at the U-boats.

  • Probably, but thinking how they fare at the beginning...and that was with British help!. Without England on he way U-Boats would have half the Atlantic all for them, no airplanes coming off the island to attack them out of their bases in France, no aircover in half of the ocean.

Just think how much damage the Kriegsmarine did to the US convoys with just a handfull of submarines right on their east coast and on the Caribean.

  • @Soundwave3591 Lets not forget the fleet of giant coast guard cutters who helped protect the navy and its convoys during the Battle of the Atlantic.

  • Trouble with that "hope" is that much of the Far East Empire was occupied by the Japs. That said, we can "Thank" the Nips for bombing Pearl Harbor, I do not think the USA would have entered the war in full strength otherwise. It was still a close call...The Germans and Japs were a formidable force.

  • @Soundwave3591 I suppose they could have fought from India, but where would they launch attacks from? Where would they get their orders from? Part of Hitler's reasoing in not invading was the fact that the colonies would have been taken by the Japanese and the Americans, and the Indians would have taken control of India if they heard the Government surrendered. Either way, it would have been very, very bad for the British,

  • And what "atrocities" did the Allies commit ? Sure as hell didn't have a "final solution" series of death camps in the US , France, Britain...Russia , yeah, THEY did.

I object strenuously to comparing those that fought to free Europe from tyranny to those that enslaved it.

  • Before you read this, please bear in mind I am British, and bear no Pro- Hitler banner to this conversation.

Look up: Battle of Berlin. Also, do a bit of reading. I found the book "Bomber Boys" accurately gave a discription of the air war on both sides. It was also a very enjoyable book from a action point of view.

  • It really is distressing when you see the sight from the plane of London on fire

  • It is distressing. Although somewhat awe inspiring - in a sick way, I mean. Before I saw this movie, I had never thought of what it would be like to be in the German position - I was always thinking of those being bombed. There had to be a kind of shock and awe at flying over a major city completely on fire. The Germans in the film don't seem to be happy, but almost stare in a kind of, "What can mankind do?" way.

  • @HenryvKeiper no matter what side your on, it cant feel too good to drop bombs on helpless people. At least, I wouldn't feel too good about it. Most German pilots were good men, just fighting for their country.

  • @HenryvKeiper Well it did happen the other way round a few times too. I completely agree.

  • It was a WAR. There are no winners when it comes to war. We suffer, they suffer. Does it matter what nationality the mothers are who lose sons?

  • I believe the Allies won the war.

  • Beg to differ about no "winners"...bet the concentration camp survivors were glad that the Allies won, and the Nazis lost...ya think ?

  • O dont care, the Germans of today are quite happy about that as well...

  • Yes, in a way. My point was that war is completely futile. We lost people, they lost people. At then end of the day, people died on both sides and that doesn't sound like "winning" to me.

  • Modern days Germans weren`t even alive at the time, you can`t blame them for what their grandparents did..besides they got bombed severely in return didn`t they?

  • And just the same, today's Germans are not responsible for the Holocaust, perhaps their grandparents or parents were, depending who you're talking about.

  • those damn Nazis bombed my nan

  • damn the english for bombing my nan

  • the world would be a better place without england ;)

  • Err half the worlds inventions wouldnt be here if it wasnt for us. The nazis [ like you ] are gone and we invented literature, the jet engine , , and lots more

  • your wrong

  • er no. the jet engine was invented by frank whittle

  • what, no way , it was ernst heinkel, and germany invented the first jet plane

  • Frank Whittle was the first to register a patent for the turbojet engine in 1930. Hans von Ohain was granted a patent for his turbojet engine in 1936. However, Hans von Ohain's jet was the first to fly in 1939. Frank Whittle's jet first flew in in 1941.

  • Schwanz!

  • You bombed our 'nan' (and everybody elses Nan for that matter) first!

As Bomber Harris said - "Sow the wind, now reap the whirlwid"

  • Thank you Nazikrauts for bombing Rotterdam in a peacewful country that never had anything to do with war toward Germany. We have a saying in our language; he who sows wind will harvest storm. And that's just what you got in the years after 1940. Rats!

  • sorry for my country inconvenience, i hope you forgive us, it was a man from austria who brainwashed are people, again am sorry for my countrys old evil regime, i hope our 2 countrys can be freinds again!

  • Well, as an American I'm standing by for all the " America is most hated country...blah blah ". Not really worried about it. But craigzomack, you owe no apologies. You were not alive when this happened. You had nothing to do with it. Don't let others saddle you with a guilt trip that you don't deserve.

  • Tell them all to shut the Hell up mate,

many Euro nations like France, Italy, England even Russia started wars in Europe they r no better. Thanks for being freindly gracious ppl when I visited yr country, the Germans were awsome ppl interact with, u have a culture to be proud of.

  • those arrogant and mean pieces of shit in france have a lot to learn from u, when it comes to being decent human beings, lol

  • @craigzomack we are friends mate. I'm a truck driver and I've been all over your country. I love Germany and I love the German people. We're quite aware that it was the Nazi regime we were fighting, and not the entire German people. Basically a lot of criminal gangsters got into power in your country when it was at a low point. It could've happened anywhere. Let's hope it doesn't happen anywhere again. Peace and love from Britain

  • @truck5050 Nice thing to say, and I couldn't agree more.

  • just see it an an secret revenge for the colonie terror that the dutchs had done in pacific.

he who sows wind will harvest storm like you said. Any country in the world had done something worse.

The dutch's , French's , British and Belgians bring terror to their colonies the germans bring terror over Europe and the terror over germany comes from the far east and from atlantic.

    Its called Karma :-)

  • no dutch are the people in netherlands

  • What's the difference?

Sorry about this I thought Belgium was the Netherlands, or is the Netherlands Holland and Belgium?

  • Holland is netherlands its another name haha......... Belgium is another country ok?

  • In reality, the Germans never really introduced a good, long ranged heavy bomber. Heinkel HE111s and Stukas were still being used at the end of the war, outclassed and outmatched

  • 1.47 y do all the bombs drop at the same time

  • because the head pilot gives the call for it on his mic

  • k m8

  • y r they such lil bombs how cood they do so much damage gd fil by da way

  • Because they dropped fire bombs.

  • wonder if there is any remorse in those pilot's eyes?

It sure looks like it towards the end...

  • good video helped me with my history report

  • Ha! I'm glad.

  • huge mistake. should of targeted radar stations and air fields...

  • the germans would have won if they did!!!

  • Apart from London the blitz bombing during WW2also caused enormous damage and tremendous loss of life on many other British towns and cities, including some cities of great historic and architectural beauty. No large town or city excaped the raids, and prior to the start of the blitz the luftwaffe also raided RAF airfields all over Southern and Eastern England during the Battle of Britain in 1940. The blitz went on into 1941/43 and in 1944/45 the V1 and V2 rockets killed very may people.

  • My grandad was bombing germany when this happened, He got told over intercom and he said when he got told his heart sunk.. because all of his family lived near where the bombs was dropped but his duty kept him flying to germany.

  • Not pyrrhic at all. Principled and painful is what it was. It was a massive, ultimate sacrifice on the part of my forebears, the Imperial British, so that freedom might still have some chance in Europe, in the face of murderous tyranny. It was all the more noble for it.

Germans and French hate to be reminded of the catastrophe they both generated one way or another. So we get all the shit all the time - and from all sides (even from our mates, the Yanks).

    Seems unfair. Would you disagree?

  • It is unfair that you get all the blame. Iusticia in suo cuique tribuendo cernitur. (Cicero; also motto of Prussia) You should get the stercal material you deserve, not all of it. As for giving freedom a chance: Take out your wallet and count the photo i.d.s. Whence came they, sir? (Hint: Hans Franks' Warsaw Ghetto)

  • You seem to be a sort of well-educated lunatic nostalgic for some sort of mythical, benevolent, pre-Nazi Ancien Régime. I admit, I comprehend that. But I do not approve.

There is a place in the world for your sort so I'll keep my limited counsel for the sake of your sanity - and mine.

  • There is some truth in what you say. And I was never alone. Recall Wilhelm II's remark at the start of WWI:"If only Grandmama [Queen Victoria]were still alive, she would never allow this."If we do not first dream of a good world, how shall we achieve it? You may not be a monarchist, but Germany would not be the first country to re-establish a constitutional monarchy(Spain). We can and shall have our Kaiser back. Thank you for your public civility. With that and good will, I see a bright future.

  • Oh, I see, you're an fan of *aristocratic* fascism. If only I'd known.

But we beat them too in the first chapter of the German hooligan party, in case you'd chosen to 'fail to notice' that for some perverse personal reason. Regardless, your comments speak to a pretty corrupt outlook so this will be the last time I credit them with a response. In fact, I reckon you're a pretty sad fake, as if it matters.

You do get all sorts on Youtube, I do declare. I suppose that's what makes it interesting.

  • Actually, I'm a monarchist. You seem to belong to that sort which call everyone with whom they disagree a fascist (or some denigration). Very interesting.

  • Neither am I. The Fatherland is a culture, as is your country. I mean this in Aristotle's sense of politea, best translated as a way of doing things. I regret if you mistook my irony for hate. I assure you I am just as critical of the portly bourgeois hypocrites (Spiessbürger) of my own locale. I leave the skinheads to the police, as I am a bit too old for a punch-up. Hopefully, we can concentrate on our positive, complementary traits and avoid repeating the idiocy of the past.

  • The 'fatherland' died with Hitler.

Wake up and live for the new Germany! (And find yourself a girlfriend).

  • The Fatherland may die, but not yet.(cf. Toynbee, A Study of History, Vol. XII: cultural superpositioning) BAOR is history, and when BFG expires, it will be easy to live for Germany. As for my girlfriend - I dare not type what she just said about the accreditation of your place of employment. My keyboard might melt.

  • Lol. (Sounds rich!).

  • So how long were the Germans able to attack at night before Britain got the good nightfighters and made it just as costly as in the daytime?

  • The luftwaffe continued it's bombing offensive against major British cities for 74 nights continously after the Battle of Britain. Night fighter technology (radar equipped aircraft) was really in it's infancy at this point in the war & nailing nazi bombers at night was a hit n miss affair. The twin engined Beaufighter was converted into a night fighter role due to it's heavy armament & that fact it could carry the heavy radar equipment used to detect the bombers.

  • One of the earliest of the Night Fighters was the Boulton Paul Defiant, a fighter with a powered turret of four Browning .303's but no forward firing weapons. Outclassed in day fighting but the turret was useful at first in night fighting.

  • What movie is this sorry im behind.

  • So behind you forgot to read the description, let alone the very title of this video?

  • The Tet Offensive scene in "Full Metal Jacket" was filmed in the part of London bombed in this clip, more than a generation later. I hear it still hasn't been rebuilt. Also, Britain went off wartime rationing in 1955, two years after West Germany. Whereas Germany has led the western world in innovative patents since 1980, Britain's chief export is soccer riots. And the Brits won! What if they had lost? A New Stone Age?

  • The childeren:

    messershmit!

    Heinkel!

Messhersmit! No idooit, they are Heinkels!

  • Are they saying that? For some reason I always thought he was saying, "No they ain't, they're Heinkels"

  • why did those german bastards bomb london!! how evil is that

  • its not the germans, its HITLER

  • It may interest you to know that they also bombed many other towns and cities throughout Britain - Newcastle, Coventry,Portsmouth, Clydebank,Cardiff,Dover...etc. Wasn't it evil to bomb them? And didn't we do the same to many towns and cities in Germany in retaliation - resulting in many times the casualties that we suffered? Was that evil too?

  • Not only London, they also bombed Coventry, Liverpool, Birmingham, Manchester, Bristol, Southampton, Sheffield, Nottingham and many more

  • I love Heinkels, they're one of my favourite bombers of the second world war!

  • we shall fight on the seas and oceans,

we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be,

we shall fight on the beaches,

we shall fight on the landing grounds,

we shall fight in the fields and in the streets,

    we shall fight in the hills;

    But we shall never surrender,

  • i would like to say REST IN PEACE EVERY1 WHO SERVED LONDON AND GB IN WW2 IF YOUR WITH ME SAY RIP IN YOU NEXT MESSAGE

  • RIP!

  • Hitler made a big mistake attacking british citys it gave the R.A.F time to recover its losses and build more planes

  • Which movie was this?

  • You're kidding, right?

Did you read the video description? Or look at the title?

  • I thought this video was about the real Battle of Britain, not the movie.

  • The movie's about the real Battle of Britain.

  • Yeah, I know. What date was this movie released?

  • 1969 the Battle of Britain was released.

  • And it was in color?

  • Yep. They even had Adolf Galland as technical advisor to that movie.

  • I'm guessing this film was re-mastered by THX, was it not?

  • die germans

  • harsh, but only with that attitude can we make sure an ultimate human failure like ww2 can never happen again. Burying the past under P.C isnt going to work

  • I bet those germans looking at London on fire are thinking that they've won, pity they haven't yet heard of the Tall boy or Grand Slam

  • all i can say is whatever.

  • to look at it learn from it and use those lessons to make the world a better place. My family on my Dads side comes from Malta which became the most bombed place on earth at the time but I bear the Luftwaffe and Italian crews and troops no ill they were following orders, even though my Grandfather had to eat grass at one point because there was no food. So my message is it happend and now we are freinds lets make the world a better place shal we?

  • And so the master race sow the wind. Now they whine because they reaped the whirlwind.Don't forget these lot bombed London in WW1 as well from Gotha bombers and Zeppelins not forgetting their battleships shelling the east coast.WW1 ended with not one allied boot on German soil while France,Belgium et al were in ruins. They needed bombing in Dresden,Hamburg,Berlin etc to be taught a lesson never to be forgotten.

  • "Don't forget these lot bombed London in WW1" many weren't even alive then, much less now, so don't complain about Germans' 'whine's because that's simply the latest generation suggesting you don't blame them for what adults in the Lufwaffe did several generations ago. Get over it.

  • You wouldn't think a 250 or 500lb bomb is rubbish or tiny when it lands on your house. Obviously, Britain invaded Czechoslovakia, Poland, France and every other country in Europe and put women and children into gas chambers. One of us is lying and it ain't me babe.

  • hah they had rubbish tiny bombs ^_^

  • Hey, the reason hitler wanted us join his side is because he knew Britain had enough strngth to resist him, and if we did join him than Europe would be all of Hitlers! England was the last country to resist Hitler. Other than Russia but they hardly did anything. They only joined the allied forced because they knew we would win.

  • could you say britain instead of england cos Scotland and Wales were in it too.

  • oops sry mate.

  • its ok pal

  • And Northern Ireland, even Belfast was bombed.

  • Dublin was bombed aswell and that was a neutrel city!

  • how could of been bombe the german bombers did not have the range 2 go that far

  • I don't know.

All I know is that on May 31st 1941 Dublin was bombed; google or wikipedia it for further details.

  • Russia hardly did anything? Are you kidding me? They literally sacrificed millions to repel the bulk of Hitler's force.

  • Of course Russia was doing something, they were busy with the purges of the Red Army, starving the people of The Ukraine and purging thousands of Poles into mass graves.

  • The purges were finished by this time, the Germans killed millions of Poles to the thousands killed by the Soviets (not that that was right) and read Tauger for more info on the famine.

  • @Mithguard: Read up on Operation Barbarossa, Russia had their hands full fending off Germany, look at the death tolls from WWII and you'll see who had the most casualties.

We could take it a step further and mention the Winter War with Finland, they were not idle during WWII. Their campaigns are not as well published or known but they did occur.

  • Britain started bombing German cities with focus on residential zones way before in 1939 - German Air Force was not allowed to bomb London until Spetember 1940 - Churchill called for terror raids long before Hitler came in to power.

  • Hmm Guernica, Rotterdam and Warsaw were bombed previously. Hitler just forbade bombing at first hoping to make peace with the Brits that's all.

  • i think your history i can't understand why you try to play the victom germany bombed us first civilians to so we would give into their demands for are surrender so GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT actuly if you look it clearly says that germany targeted british civilians to break are moral but it had the opersite affect

  • In response to Scheeser Bomber Harris C in C Bomber Command got his idea for targets from the German bomings of London I suggest to all who wish to discuss who bombed who first and the morals to watch the film Bombers Harris, yes the Germans Bombed Britain and Britain Bombed the Germans the fact remains that it happend you cannot change history the thing to do is

  • the germans were the first to target civilians ,durin ww1 ,the bombarded the east coast ,scarborough for on,useing their battleships, plus the use of zepplins ,bombing london, then gotha bombers, also they target civilians on passenger ships also ,so it was nothin new to the germans in ww2 to bomb civilians

  • So the Brits didn't kill civilians when General Kitchener led the invasion of the Sudan? Or the Romans when invading Gaul?

  • damn poor britsh but this move put the Battle in ritains favor and the Brtis tolerated these bombing but damn! how can anyone survive that?

  • poor London geez..
