In my opinion, Pete Jolly's rendition of the beautiful Burt Bacharach song "Windows of the World" is one of the finest jazz/pop piano performances EVER.
I heard this album in Philly in 1968. Please would someone download "lonely girl" on side "B"-1st song. 96.5 WHAT-FM certainly was on target. One of my favorite albums of all-time.
beautiful peice of music making, that A&M Bacharach sound, with a little McCann rythmn on the bottom. Pete Jolly could make some beautiful sounds on that piano and I'm just scatching the surface of his works. Im leaning toward the A&M and warner bros period. The "Blues" peice that he did in the Eastwood documentary made me "hear" him after hearing him on the radio all my life via Chuck Niles.
this is by far one the greatest jazz albums around.I bought it on Ebay for 11 bucks and had a friend of mine transfer it to CD.I just love it...I hope every one does to!
Every time I listen to this I start crying. I am a 63 year old married man who has experienced many tragedies in that time. Since, as a teenager, I first heard his recordings with Chuck Berghofer and Larry Bunker I have always loved his piano playing and his sense of rhythm.
Still sounds as sweet as the 40 yrs ago I last heard this album, which opened the doors to my love of jazz. Thank you for posting this trip down memory lane, and thank you, Mr Jolly, for being an inspiration for me to pursue learning piano. RIP my friend and "mentor".
I saw The Pete Jolly Trio at LA State College in the early 60's.I really liked the sound being a jazz buff at the time.Went out and bought an LP titled "Little Bird".Good sounds.
one of the most dynamic pianist who ever lived ! His trio with chuck berghofer on bass and nick martinis was one of the longest ever in jazz. buy his cds "yours truly" or "yeah" His greatest work was an lp called
'seasons" very hard to find but a masterpiece. Pete also was a great accordion player very rare to find that stuff. we lost a true monster on the piano when pete passed.
