He obviously sees something in her besides looks, I would think that the fans should be happy that JJ is such a kind gentleman, that is so down to earth, and can see beyond what other people see! Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder!
Appearance doesn't stay forever after all, I'd say that what the girl friend looks like doesn't really matter!
