this has been a long tradition with lots of the hippie bands out there and mainstream(U2, Coldplay). Phish playing the Beatles White Album, Mr. Blotto,The Who. Furthur(the Dead) covering Abbey Road. Etc. it's not like they run out of material. it's more of a homage to music that they like and//or had been influenced by. very common, different, sometimes fun interpretations of different music. why does anyone cover anyone? just a part of music. maybe instead of being critical, open your mind!
What an odd concept. I've never heard of a popular band covering an entire album of another popular band and none of their own songs. Maybe it can be done correctly, but to me it just seems to scream "Hey we're completely out of original material!" Besides, what band wants to open themselves *that much* to criticism and negative comparison to one of the greatest bands and albums of all time? It just seems extraordinarily foolish to me. But if the fans and the band enjoy it, more power to them.
Say what you will about this cover, I absolutely love it. The Flaming Lips are truly a unique band and I believe they took the most respectable approach to such a titanic album, they never tried to be a "tribute band". They approached the songs with their personal stylings and added flourishes that were their own ( Which some people hated and some enjoyed). I believe this album was definately in the spirit of (prog, art, psych etc.) rock in the way that it had personal creativity and took risks

A shit band trying to cover genius. They have reduced themselves to the level of "really bad tribute band" and will never possess the requisite genius to do anything close to what Pink Floyd created. People that want to have fantasies about being in a band that they idolise should do it at home in the garage and not inflict such embarrassing and "cringe-worthy" displays on the rest of the world.
whats that second part of the song when the lights turn orange and that spray can thing is there, is that still a take on breathe? or? please help me :D
this is probably what the album would have sounded like if they'd done it in 1967, haha really interesting interpretation i didnt love it but it certainly bought a smile to my face
you have to be an absolutely tasteless humanesque kinda being to say pink floyd's dark side of the moon' sucked. go check into a mental institution deego
Pink's DTOM is unquestionably a work of art. I loved it and still do. Having said that: I was at the NYE Freak Out and the Lips blew my mind with their interpretation. Simply incredible. With the show, also a real work of art. I've downloaded the itunes album and listen to it over and over. The beat and the memory of the visual of Run is still with me, Amazing show- amazing work, Thanks Wayne and Co, 3 years in OK city with you on NYE with Family and friends from MEM-- I'll be back again.

the haters are hilarious. Pink floyd sucked, the FLips put kick into an otherwise dull album. I was unimpressed when I heard they were covering DSotM, because I always hated it. However they really made this album their own, and I LOVED being at this concert. I actually have some respect for Floyd's version after hearing how good it could've sounded.
Nah, I like the Lips but this sucked, I've heard bands at parties cover this better. Go back to your originals Wayne. Let the masters, Pink Floyd, have this to keep.
Yes, we all know that no one will ever be able to re-create Floyd's masterpiece...It's their work of art and they did it best, but don't bash on a band that took the time to create it with their own style...if you love Pink Floyd so much than appreciate that a band took so much time out of their career to recreate it the way they would have done it.

This is so horrible. So, so, so, utterly, horrible. :^( Another example of how commercially sold "music" should be flushed down the toilet after crapping out KFC.
If the audio comes out we need to make a multicam video, I dont have the capability on my computer though. I have these songs up also. My audio sounds good until bass hits.
haha is he just getting mad fucked up during on the run

demelumeestermad 1 year ago
@demelumeestermad It's not the second part, it is the second song named "On The Run". The best song in the Dark Side of The Moon tribute.

@FRICSO you kidding? breathe is the best

@misterbuckethead Breathe is good too, the second best song, but for me On The Run is at the top.
