Stalin's strong point however was that he was very very cunning and it is for that reason that he was able to come to power.

@truthslap Although I do prefer Stalin's model over anything that Lenin or Trotsky might have had in mind for the future I admit that you're not wrong. This is a very popular debate in Russia and it's really impossible to say certainly what Trotsky might have accomplished if he had had the power and enough time. In the end Stalin managed to turn the communist movement into a real power and threat to the capitalists and that's more that anyone could have realistically hoped for in the beginning.

State-Capitalism is mentioned by Marx as one of the stages of development towards Communism, almost every developing country engages in State-Capitalism (the US did for its entire existence, China since Deng Xiaoping, etc). I don't deny his role in the revolution, but that doesn't change the fact that he was against Stalin and did his best to undermine Stalin's leadership. Every communist who opposed Stalin is much worse than a capitalist in my eyes. @truthslap I don't deny their previous deeds and I'm very thankful to them for their role in the revolution, but I'm pretty sure that if they had managed to beat Stalin the future of the USSR would've been pretty grim. My country is much more important to me than any ideology and thus I admire Stalin for his more nation-centered policy. Instead of wasting too much resources on the worldwide revolution he accomplished what the Empire failed to. Everyone who opposed him to the end was a traitor.

Trotsky just recognized the necessity of reaching out to the international labor movement, considering the rise of Nazism, the Spanish civil war, and the Chinese war of liberation, he saw a need for ideological solidarity. there's also the issue of Stalin's overwhelming use of penal labor during industrialization

@truthslap Although I do prefer Stalin's model over anything that Lenin or Trotsky might have had in mind for the future I admit that you're not wrong. This is a very popular debate in Russia and it's really impossible to say certainly what Trotsky might have accomplished if he had had the power and enough time. In the end Stalin managed to turn the communist movement into a real power and threat to the capitalists and that's more that anyone could have realistically hoped for in the beginning.

State-Capitalism is mentioned by Marx as one of the stages of development towards Communism, almost every developing country engages in State-Capitalism (the US did for its entire existence, China since Deng Xiaoping, etc). Stalin's industrial programs and 5-year plans were State-Capitalism. Stalin's biggest flaw was not State-Capitalism, it's when he conscripted penal labor to do it. Please read Solzhenitsyn.

Fascism is a political system that enforces capitalism. Nazism does not in any way come from the same tree as Marxism. Hitler was only critical of finance capitalism for a few reasons. Goebbels insisted that the party emphasize the word socialism to draw more appeal. Communism and socialism are NOT the same thing.

Differentiating between different brands of Leninism is like trying to wade through a cess pool. Some turds are harder and sharper, some are a little more liquescent.
Leninism is the reason workers across the world assume socialism is just a cop smashing their face in if they go on strike. Only they must call the cop comrade, and the smashing is liberating because it's by the "workers' state."
Humanity won't be happy till the last capitalist is hung with the guts of the last bureaucrat.

What's a capitalist? Is it a rich person? Or anyone who makes profits?
We all like making money, if some people do it very well - shoujld they be punished? We all have computers in our homes, I've got 1, and 2 laptops, I don't think communism would allow that.
We need a new economic model probably - but it won't be anything you or I think of.

@superhamzah85 A capitalist is, by Marxian definition, one who is not a proletarian. It becomes therefore necessary to define a proletarian: one who works but does not own the means of production. In Marxian economics, there are two classes: capitalist and proletarian. The idea is to give ownership of the means of production to the proles and, therefore, get rid of of those two classes - the only classes in Marxian theory. Thus, a classless society exists. What about those who don't work? IDK!

The bourgeois's greatest strength is their ability to empower people such as those on this board. The racism, xenophobia and general backwardness was everything trotsky spent his life fighting against. He understood that this was only possible when capitalism was eradicated from the globe via permanent revolution. The bourgeois internationally understood this point very well. Thus 14 countries invaded Russia after the change in power. Thus the Russian revolution and it's gains were aborted
