this guy kills me...saw him in honolulu 1974 or so with ramsey lewis. is there more footage of this show around?? or other full length shows, stuff besides what i see on youtube??? i have looked on amazon and i see almost nothing in the way of video for szabo.
@assfaggot you shut up and stop harrassing peoples on these videos..you are canadan butt fuggleyis with penisis envy..channel not available huh..what ballz ov stealz u have..stop stalkin me pusssai!!!! you r da real bowlcuttyizpussyis but now you r a caucusfrohawkis with a little pinky wrist band and frohawk, frum the steam hot swealting jumgles ov northern canada, and got bit in da ass buy a giant mosquito and their, and u liked it, and now u r gay.but you didnt need any help mwahaha.lol..
This is not a video to judge Gabor Szabo by. It's nice enough but near the end of Gabor's ride a lot of the stuff was pretty mainstream, attempts to reach a wider market, which I can't blame him. But for me, what makes me an absolute fan is his early work with Chico Hamilton and others, and especially his earlier albums. Love Jazz Raga, Spellbinder and Dreams, absolute classics that can stand up to any other guitarist for feel and one-of-a-kind beauty. His work with Gary McFarland was unique too
I am into Roy Buchanan Johnny Winter that is the style I play and sound like. A friend turned me on to this cat. I am not that impressed. In New Orleans most of the jam bands are so much better. I have friends that are better and more world reknown. The Nevilles,The Baptistes. Johnny vidacovich band Stanton Moore etc. I just don't see or hear it. In this guy. JGN New Orleans
@jeffguitarnelson1 Listen to him a bit more. I know where you're coming from but for me there is the precise guitarist, the one that doesn't miss a note but generally lacks of feel and there's the ones in the other way around. Szabo is good, have a listen to Spartacus Love Theme. His scales don't go to the obvious and his albums are perfectly mixed for his sound. Any guitarist who worships feel in music likes him.
BRAVO ! DANDOZOLIKA BRAVO ! ! THANKYOU SO VERY MUCH FOR SHAREING THE SORCERER-of-SUCH-STIMULATING-SOUND AND MASTER-MUSICIAN MR. GABOR-SZABO, WITH THE COMMUNICATION-COMMUNITY YOUTUBE. ENCORE ! ENCORE ! ! REGARDS AND GRATEFUL-GRATITUDE from CANADA.
Haha, it's not MusicTV, it's the national channel of Hungary (Magyar Televízió), where is Gábor Szabó from. and in these times that was the only tv channel here. Sorry for laughing, you shouldn't know it, but it's funny :D
More Cowbell is not known in Hungary, in fact it is just too American to be known anywhere else than North America. Still you certainly made your point, I agree! More Cowbell!
Fant00mRecords, MTV is not only Music Television but the Magyar Televízió (Hungarian Television) as well. Gabor Szabo had been filmed by a Hungarian crew during his visit in Budapest.
Aztaaaa! Nem hiszek a szememnek! Babos ritmusozik a háttérben, Kőszegi Imre perkázik! Végre láthattam a legendás Szabó Gábort. És édesapádat, nagyon precízen tolta a többiekkel együtt...
Újra csak sok-sok köszi Zoli ezekért a felvételekért!
Nah, man...the bass is in the pocket RIGHT where it needs to be. He's locked with the drummer, and they're settin' up the groove for everybody else to play off of. If he added anything else to that bass line, he'd screw up the whole groove.
Szabó Gábor (Bp., 1936. márc. 8. - Bp., 1982. febr. 26.): magyar születésű amerikai jazzgitáros. Tizenöt éves korában kezdett gitározni, speciális ujjtechnikáját autodidaktaként fejlesztette ki. 1956-ban elhagyta Mo.
Gugli úrat is kérdezhetted volna.:)
Sajnos ő is Radics betegségben halt meg (sokat ivott).:(
This is Gabor Szabo performing "The Biz" at the Budapest Hilton Hotel in 1978 during a visit back to his native land. The original version of this song by Bobby Lyle appears on the guitarist's 1977 album, FACES. This performance, as the poster indicates, was broadcast on Hungarian television in 1978.
The musicians here are János Másik (el-p); Gabor Szabo, Gyula Babos (g); István Lerch (synth); Peter Dandó (b); János Solti (d); Imre Koszegi (perc). I have never seen videos of Gabor with Wolfgang Melz or Jim Keltner - don't know if there are any.
