  • i've heard there are health benefits from Japanese baths. is it because of the hot water or the minerals?

i know extremely hot water is not good for you.

cold water shower is much more good for health.

  • no boobs no watch!!

  • These hot springs look quite small, does every guest usually get their own individual hot spring at this hotel?

  • Rule # 366 Of the Internet: There are no videos with tits or naked women on youtube

  • So you have to take two baths, one inside the other outside?

  • This "how to" guide could use some narrating. All I learned to do from watching this was "Look behind you to see if a camera is watching."

  • MILF ... Oh god i wish i was there taking a bath with her ...

  • Really nice video..Thank you for a glimpse into a different lifestyle.Maybe I can find a site that will instruct me on how to build one..Thank you

  • Sometime i want to take abath in japan.

  • I remember when I was in high school a teacher and I got in an argument saying that sharing the bath water in Japan was disgusting and that people with std's will be in there nad you can catch it.. I was like you know how hot that water is???

  • Wow...Japanese people REALLY know how to take a bath.

Further proof of my Otaku beliefs, lol.

  • Should walk up behind and yell BOO!

    But she is bootyful too:-)

  • it looks so relaxing. I want to go to a bathhouse one day. I know you don't actually wash yourself in the bath. With most japanese bathing they wash themselves while sitting on a stool with a cloth a bucket of water and some soap. They rinse and then get in the "tub" to relax. It's actually a cleaner way to take a bath than bathing then relaxing in the dirty water.

  • auch, that must be hot

  • WTF

  • Sponge bath

  • the bath looks scary haha

  • Nice place.

  • this lady has no scrubbing technique!

  • I wish all the Japanese women were this quiet at the bath!

    Great, tastefully done video, btw!

  • lol

  • I dont know if this was really a "how to" video. It would have been cool if someone could have explained what she was doing and why she was doing it. Reguardless, its very insightful when it comes to how the Japanese take a bath. The woman, for some reason, reminded me of my grandmother (Who's also Japanese) so it was kinda wierd seeing her naked XD! I hate sensitive people who flag vids they have no business flagging. 5*****

  • I'm very sorry that this video was flagged by some misguided bathing haters.

  • no wash cloth no soap..what gives?

  • @papi78380 You don't wash yourself in Japanese "baths"

In fact, calling it a bath is misleading. There are places outside the baths to wash yourself off. These are just places to get warm and relax. It's more like a hot tub, without the chlorine.

  • where is the soap?

  • Well that was educational!!!

  • atleast use over 38 celcium to 40c of water,use a spounge.that really helps,guys.get up 10 min.early for that.

  • PS

my boyfriend used to never washed his body, just slipping his soap all over his body once lightly and finished.he needed to get up with a strong smell like coast guard, but that doesn't help to truly get rid of the germs and durts.

  • but I know why.theyre saving for waters basically.Japanese did not have a custom to SAVE ANY WATER until 1980s,buying mineral waters.but they now start using different new way to save any water.they ARE clean, they take hot bath in a day.they wash their body with a soap BEFORE they go in a bath tab.dont descriminates from race or its different culture.

  • when you only go take a shower with a soap,a real durt and germs don't go away.didnt you know that?!go have a bath!some even take a cold water shower who are needless to say.some ppl.dont wash their body n only washes their heads, which I saw for a girl from France.

  • Masa, they do use soap, but never in the baths, that is for relaxing and enjoying. You are to suds up before the bath, that is what the young lady was doing sitting next the bath rinsing off, it was not shown cleaning herself, in the video. But it is more fun with a friend or partner, someone to talk to LOL. Is she using rainwater? And I am assuming the bath inside is heated and outside cold?

  • @SolarizeYourLife an onsen is a hot spring bath, the water is naturally warm. If the water is below 25C it cannot legally be called an onsen in Japan, regardless of whether it is indoors or outdoors. Those waters are also naturally rich in minerals, like iron or sulphur, so they're very healthy for the skin

  • could be. solarizeyourlife.. i konw the fact that baths are meant to be for relaxing. probably be a waste of water to shower beforehand but bath water gotta be clean when its full of minerals.

  • Eureka!!!!! at 2:58 ...

  • i love sensual baths like this

  • I wonder how do the japanese clean thmeselves without soap. i mean soap kills germs and i heard that some germs can survive in hot water.

  • @Masa857 It's actually considered rude to go into an onsen without showering properly beforehand. I personally think it's far more disgusting to go into a bathtub dirty and wash yourself in it, only to soak in your own dirt. eek.

  • yeah. soaking in dirt will make you sick pipsypops. i know now

  • thanks for the sarcasm. I just think it's weird to to bathe without showering before, specially if it's an onsen and you're sharing with other people.

  • youre right but some people think its already more akward to bathe with others. even with the same gender.

  • It's these kind of documentary videos where there's no talking that I enjoy the most! There's also another kind of silent documentary on bread braiding, you won't regret it.

  • I think these sorts of daily rituals are what allow some cultures to maintain a perspective on what a meaningful life is. I am so fatigued with the the path our country has taken collectively with respect to the meaning of life... It should not be consumption. He who dies with the most toys really does not win at life. There is no absolute win. Seeking to find happiness in the little things and our rituals are what makes life joyful.

  • that was buitiful, radfighter :')

  • Best quote of the day :)

  • Nooo!!! I can't bear it!!! It's too much for my eyes! LOL... JK. But now I know how to take a bath. LOL.

  • How is this not suitable for minors? I've seen much worse things on American TV!

  • Thats the way of things. You can show people getting their brains blown out, stabbed, sliced and cut up with a chain saw in one great big bloody spray.......but the unclothed human body, oh my we can't show that.

  • The simple joy of bathing amongst nature in the nude is one that not many people experience. I'm glad the Japanese were open to it.

  • i know right

  • This is ridiculous and I never saw a bath like this. You soap and rinse and soap and rinse and soap and rinse before ever getting in the bath. You don't put a dirty body in the bath.

  • I missed the part where she invites the gaijin to join her in the bath and wash her yoni. That is when West meats East. Hai?

    Arigato, mamasan.

  • HELL YEAH LOL SHOGUN for the WIN

  • why is this not suitable for minors? Is the Naked back that bad?

  • @Darkphoenix3450 i agree and its a part of a culture not something perverted. It centuries of tradition...americans show more in movies

  • =0 really?

  • Egg-zackly, Just like when food is irradiated, kills the germs...see what I mean? That would be funny if somebody dropped a big metal bucket behind her, BAM then she turns around!

  • Of course it's allowed to wash your hair before getting into the water. Just keep your hair out of the water, then we can keep the water clean.

  • Asi yo me quisiera bañarme, esta chido.

  • do they take showers?

  • I'd love to try! but what about washing your hair before getting into the water? Is that allowed or should it be avoided because of long hairs getting everywhere around?

  • oh man...i am relaxing just looking at her relaxing...i want to try it...

  • so in japan they do not use soap or wash cloths the way americans do? I myself have to use deodorant soap is that not avaliable in japanese onsen?

    :-)

  • You clean yourself *before* getting into the bath. The bath is strictly for relaxation.

  • No, Japanese people never need to use soap. Their bodies are effectively self-cleaning, so they are able to remain ultra-clean in pure water, without the need for soap.

  • what the hell are they washing machines?? every human must use soap from time to time

  • oh well..

  • Well we like to show what is is like to have bath at Japanese onsen, becuase we like onsen very much and think the atmosphere is nice and relaxing. If you have a chance, please try it.

  • I was expecting an instructional video..

  • looks so relaxing to take a bath in a bathhouse like that! wish i had one

  • It's Japanese woman, however,we can see nothing but back.

  • its true guys i mean its retarded how this video is flagged we only see her back nothing more

  • you are a idiot!!!

  • It is amazing how completely America has been overtaken by Victorian era culture. Nudity does not = sex... In the 1800's, prior to western Victorian influence, Japanese men and women routinely bathed together nude in communal hot springs without perceiving the nudity to be sexual. Now a days, such mixed gender bathing can only be found in certain rural hot springs. Truly sad...

  • WhiteHillAL I agree Victorian culture sucks.

  • not that exciting ,,, show me Bush ,,, or some aereola ,, or something ...

  • Pretty interesting. I like Japanese culture!

  • Very peaceful and soothing. Wow...the Japanese really do know the meaning of taking time and having a bath. It really is a beautiful idea.

  • SO taking a bath is like a really long soak in hot water (like a hot-tub) and cooler water? I didn't see her wash her hair so i kind of wondered how they go about doing that. But to film this in Japan itself was really cool :3 I do hope to go there some day myself.

  • You only soak in a ofuro. No soap allowed. You usually sit on a stool and soap up outside of the tub, rinse off thoroughly, and then soak in the ofuro to relaax.

  • wow....a mirror in that bathtub like right infront of it? why do you need to look at yourself bathe? lol

  • Anyone know why this video was flagged? I don't think there is any content here to warrant flagging. First 400,000 viewers didn't flag it. Anyway to unflag a flagged video?

  • The only way to "Unflag" is to pull the video and then repost it .

  • Okay, thank you. It's unfortunate that there is no way to appeal frivilous flagging and it seems even if there is no rules violation good videos are being flagged.

  • im afraid you can not unflag a video. some viewers found it inappropriate and flagged it. so youtube has to keep it flagged. although I don't see anything wrong with this video. people are very sensitive now a days.

  • damn this is too peaceful

  • Wow.. it was so quiet.. I could stay there for a long time.

  • Now have a random guy jump out and scream "BOO!"

  • I honestly expectesd that for at least half of the video.

  • yea dude me too lol

  • too many perv's in america to have something like this in your backyard.......

  • can't agree more

  • that would be an interesting thing to try...the bath looks so peacefull and nice ^_^

  • ghosh just jump in to the bath like every one did O.o just taking bath make this video like 6 min

  • well its not outside all the time it should say traditional Japanese bath

  • japan is modern than USA and they still take bath like that? seriously i rather go 2 the hot spring...

  • well japan is also the most conservave(idk how to spell)you can tell cause they have capsule hotelsXD seriously they are the most conservave race so they probably do that to save water

  • good to know thanks!

  • they are liberal not conservative , they can conserve energy because they have better knowledge and better technology .

  • you don't have to take a bath like that. it'd be cool to do it every now and then i think

  • wish my bathroom was like that, so simgple and peaceful, Japanese make it seem so effortless, looking out the window like that, even have a bath outside :D see gotta love it :D

  • I wish we had this in the states. D':

  • HAHA we all wish that would happen

  • Wait... I gotta get naked to take a Japanese bath? Now I know what I've been doing wrong...

  • lol

  • You're an idiot. I truly dislike people who make fun of other cultures, just to make fun of others cultures. One most bath's are in a japanese home and yes it does require two steps, washing the body outside of the tub, much like our showers, and two get into the tub and relax instead of stewing in our own filth like we do in american baths.

  • just ignore him. too much A S S H O L E already. you don't waste time on them. they are born to be an idiot and die for one.

  • Where is the soap?

  • @hollyhollyrose: I think she just was doing it to show how it's done. You usually lather up during the first step while splashing water on yourself.

  • LOL that's good to know.

  • bathtub is always OD on water

  • so u tAKE IT NUDE

  • 風呂に入る時は 股を洗えよ!!

  • ...............................

  • lol thats funny XD

  • WAYY TOO HOT

  • the water is always TOO HOT

  • yup

  • that looks like its relaxing ^^ i wanna try it one day!!!!

  • Has anyone here taken a green tea bath before? It's so wierd, but you should try it!

  • @masonkiller666: A green tea bath? Wonder what that would feel like? Sounds fun. :3 I wanna try one day. And if I get thirsty, just drink the bath water. XD

  • Definitely more fun when you go with friends. If you go by yourself it's too boring. When I lived there, my gal pals and I used to go all the time. It was like going to the spa, and super cheap!

  • i guess they dont use soap in japan, good ol pure water jus like the olden days wen soap wasnt invented yet

  • The bottles by the mirror are soap and shampoo. Most likely cut from the video. You get the gist from the water pouring.

  • And how LONG does this take?

  • LMAO!!! theres a window right in front of the bath tub!!!!XD

  • It's for light idiot

  • if its for light why is there a light?

  • lol

  • Didn't she forget the whole point of a bath?!? ummmm....soap

  • shut up overduechange

  • Who's the beautiful woman?

  • no soap?

  • So..... did she get clean?

  • This makes me want to go to Japan even more. I wish there were onsens like this in Britain. All we have are swimming pools, or saunas. We adopted the concept of saunas from the Finnish, so maybe we could adopt the concept of onsens from the Japanese :) It looks so relaxing.

  • Omg, I went to Japan this summer and did this.

It was not that relaxing for me, considering I was with other people.

    It was quite awkward.

  • Yeah, it can be awkward for some people the first time, but most people feel comfortable once they get used to it. It is a part of the culture.

  • Some sake helps.

  • too much work for a bath imo

  • Wow, that seams very relaxing and natural. I thin I want to build one of those in the garden!

  • very relaxing film. Very tasteful and informative. Might have to build an outdoor bath house for myself.

  • If you do that you may also want to buy a supply of the onsen minerals. It's called "yunohana" in Japanese. This will make your bath water the same color, and mineral content as the real onsen water.

  • beautifully done..looks sooo relaxing, too.

  • I like how this was tastefully filmed.

  • wow relaxing

  • it looked kinda liek a regular bath to me...just like...more ourdoorish

  • It's not. Unless you wash yourself in a separate place before taking your bath.

  • Ok, as this is a video that puts a bunch of hidden things right out on the table to look at and learn from.

And as the lady in this video is nude for most of it, well then I have a question that fits here.

In Japanese films of the past that showed nude girls, the girls did not shave under their arms.

    But have times changed?

I kinda would like a heads-up before I run into a situation like this over there...thanks.

  • I went to an Onsen on my trip last year, best thing ever! I picked the outdoors one and no one was there because it was 11am XD So goooooood.

  • Im sure that young girls bath with guys right....thats not going to happen....even in Japan..lol!

Do you know how many perverts there are in Japan? Lol...

  • As many as in the US and anywhere else.

  • man i miss my grandma :(

  • that looks so very relaxing. . .

  • Certain cancer patients respond well to heat treatment type of therapy, a Taiwanese doctor told me. So maybe we should research whether onsen usage inhibits certain form of cancer or prevents it completely. Purely from the relaxation viewpoint, I consider onsen a very beneficial pasttime. I enjoyed that immensely while in Japan.

  • good

  • Don't confuse 'bathing' with 'washing'. Japanese wash themselves (with soap in the dispensers or bar soap) outside the bath and bathe in the bath. More than one person uses the bath water so it stays clean as long as possible.

Just like when you sunbathe, you soak-up sunrays.

I lived 13 years in Japan and found the Japanese bath to be the best bath anywhere and one of the finest aspects of living in Japan.
