What I am loving about this video ... is the mistakes you are making. I do not know anything about siphoning without gulping an ounce via water hose. You are teaching ... at least me ... the stuff to not try. In my humble opinion ... It is saving us all precious time when TSHTF and to look for better options before it does. Rather some see this video as helpful or not ... keep showing what is and is not working. It will help us survivalist tweak our skills. : )
Survival situation my ass. I remeber when I was a kid, we had new neighbors move in from a Mexican rancho ( A ranch community ) and their kids who became my friends thought me how to siphon the gas out of their 1970 El Camino with our own mouths sucking on a ripped garden hose. I'm sure in a survival situation, you will go to the auto parts store to try your faulty product. LOL
follow the rules of gravity, liquid must flow downwards after you get a good flow going. once its flowing i noticed that you were jiggling the hose.. dont do that! once its flowing make sure its flowing in a downward motion. shortening the hose might also be a good idea.
4:38 I I was like you testing all options, this one has a lousy durability, will last about 3 or 4 gallons, & the hose will stiffen up to become in-opp when cold like sub freezing plus you will have to pump 64 times for a gallon, I would opt for a drill pump like in my video using caution
Actually, the first siphon you had, with the black bulb, is the good one. It's just not that good for siphoning gasoline out of car gas tanks because the tubing is so soft and flexible and makes it hard to push into the gas tank. However, it is a great siphon to use to siphon survival water from a larger tank to a gallon jug for example. The second pump you had is completely useless for siphoning gas out of a car gas tank, the hose is too big to pass by the anti-siphon spring in the filler neck.
Word of advice, get rid of the gas tank cap lock. Anyone can stick a toothpick, superglue or break a key off in the lock and you are screwed. You won't be able to gas up or get any gasoline from your own car. You are better off without the locking gas cap. Also, there is no safe way to punch a hole in a gas tank with a survival knife. You need a hard plastic punch tool similar to the ones they use in junk yards to remove any gas remaining in old cars. Don't use a steel knife.
Uh, It might seem a bit unethical, but if worse comes to worse, cut the tops off of two milk jugs and punch a hole in the lowest part of the gas tank (not your vehicles) with your trusty survival knife. Alternate the jugs under the stream, pouring them into your gas can. See ya out there ;)
great vid. the 1st one you had is junk. I had one and tossed it out. the 2nd one was nice but like teaparty said I think you need to keep pumping it for it work right. Those new gas cans with the saftey fills are the worse. get a big funnel to keep in the car or with the can. Check out theroadwrri0r 's channel he has a nice siphon he used for refuling. atleast you learned now the first one didnt work and not in a real bug out. get something with a 1/4 inch semi ridigid hose it works better.
@hahaurmotha No it won't ya goof...

the reason that your not getting gas is because the first siphon doesn't have a safety check valve. it blows air both ways.

if it's a 'survival situation, why not jack the car up and cut a hole in the bottom of the tank?

that's ok for getting a couple gallons of gas, but if you need to fill up a tank you'd be there all day

the second one is a pump so you have to pump it for it to work,it is not a siphon hose......
