Have you managed to solve the problem? I have the same engine with a similar exhaust in a top-flite FW190. Mine won't run for more than five seconds. I think it may have something to do with the exhaust filling up with oil and it running back in the engine, but I'm not sure... My engine is completely upside down though, and not at an angle like yours...
After not flying my plane for about 8 yrs I went out this weekend, and my super tiger .91 ran good on my first flight, then I started having problems with it. It will run at full throttle when cool, but after it warms up It will run full throttle for a second, and then want to quit. If I have it at idle, and throttle up quick it wants to shut down. It loads up on idle, but if I lean it out it won't run right. I am good with Super Tiger, but I think it's sucking air from somewhere.
@UtRadioGuy Did you check ur plug? It may run fine for awhile and then quit. See if there is little white crust on the filament. If it's fine then ur carb rubber gasket under the carb may be loose or hard. I have new carbs for all sizes of Tiger engines just to swap one out to see if it is the carb. Maybe the fuel is old. Good luck
I took my planed out this weekend, and I could not get the mixture right on my S.T. 91. It runs great cold, but after it heats up a bit at full throttle it looses RPM, and if I back off the throttle it runs ok. I just can't get it to run for long periods at full throttle. What the heck? I am pretty good with these motors so I know it's sucking air from somewhere. The plane hasen't been flown in about 8 years, but I always start it once a year. When I give it full is wants to quit running.
I have the same setup, and it sounds like your tank may be a little high. I tried props from 14x6 to 15x6 with a tach and the transition suffered. I use the 14x6 and 15% nitro because it helps idle transition from low to high. I have 3 engines that are run inverted and the gas tank is critical. 14x8 is a litlle much for the .90, I've had problems when I over-propped them. Just a thought, good luck
@jesknow I have an old Lanier Bearcat Fiberglass 40 size ARF with an O.S. .90 running an APC 12x10 prop. It's still not tweeked but, its so smooth and so fast I had to rebuild the elevator and stab cause it cracked on both sides. It beat a World Models P-51 running a YS 110 4 stroke flat out. The Dago Red is more streamlined then the Bearcat and with the same engine would beat the cat.
I have the same problem, but didn't have the problem untill I flipped the engine over (right side up), and my throddle arm was on the wrong side for my pushrod.. So, I flipped the carb unit around 180... Now I have the same problem, and looking at your video, the needle is in the same direction as mine. I called ST and the guy told me that it did not matter, but when I get home I am flipping it back again just to see if in fact that is the prob, U should try the same.
Your low end is too lean. if the idle is down and your pinch the fuel line and it dies, the low end is too lean. also adjusting the needle valve is not going to do anything unless it's at full throttle.
read the instruction manual. supertigre run and idle great once the low end is set correctly. also get rid of the slimline pipe or face it down. the engine will run much better
You should take the carb off as the super tigres sometimes had carbs put together wrong if you remove the carb and look through the bottom of it the eye where the fuel comes through it should face straight down some were put at an agle facing forward which can cause bad running. A common thing with these engines easily fixed by loosning the 2 screws at the side where the main needle is and rotating it till it faces straight down. Or it could be an air leak round your carb needing pushed down.
Try to take the revs up as far as possible then turn the screw out 2 turns and see if it richens enough to rev it further. Also that sound you are getting I get with mine it is either too hot a plug or too much nitro I ran 10% and an F5 and got that. I phoned tigre engine and they said it was the fuel exploding in the exhaust because of the nitro he said 5% is enough and use a cool plug.
check fuel lines for kinks or blockages sounds very lean they will leave oil residue as not all the oil burns check fuel clunk in tank make sure you have good fuel flow also there is another mixture screw..... idle mixture needle on the other side of carb in side of the throttle butterfly take that out one turn and adjust either way if it improves or is to rich at idle i reckon it is your fuel delivery

put a O.S. type F plug or a Fox long reach 4 stroke plug. It solved all my dead stick problems
