This is hands down my favorite NFL intro song if nothing else because I remember the 1994 season so fondly. I am a 49ers fan, and that season was truly glorious, I was 16 years old, just got my first car, took my last "family vacation" with my parents to Florida that winter and life was just good...what a time it was! This theme song reminds me of those days!...Love it!
@AUtyga Sure its too remember when San Francisco won the Superbowl and had a 21 point spread over San Diego and covered so cool dude . And they showing Jerry Rice catching a TD in that theme that rocks .
@thesportsman48 I don't think there's a version of it without the announcers anywhere. But you can see it (with the accompanying video and graphics) by finding this game or the Patriots at Browns playoff game from 1994.
I guess you could take the music from both game intros and see if there's a program that will remove the audio that does not appear exactly the same in both (the announcers).
man, i forget all about this theme this use to hum this driving to work on a monday morning after watching nfl games on nbc. I think in the 90's NBC nfl theme destroyed CBS and ABC
this one brings back emotions it was either this theme or the 95-97 theme played after a seahawks game where the team that played the seahawks missed what would have been a game winning field goal and as the ball sailed away the seahawks stormed the field jumpin and arms up in celebration at the kingdome.
1994 my favourite NFL year. I don't know why, just was. I think it was because my favourite player Dan Marino had such an awesome year. Opening Day, the Fake Spike, and a AFC East Division Title.
Whether your team was bad or good that was just a great year in the NFL. The 49ers showed their dominance, and the greatest and best players had great years.
Really, u don't say. Did u just find that out yourself? No shit ithe NFL was around before that. Superbowls are just considered more valueable than the previous championships. That's just the way it is.
yea parryc97 dthornton313 is right the team logo at 9 seconds is the Houston Oilers who are now the Tennesse Titans, but for two years they were called the Tennesse Oilers I think it was in 1999 they changed the name to Titans
It seemed back in these days CBS was the lower-tone sound of NFL (they had NFC) and NBC was the higher quality sound and coverage (they had AFC). The obviously NBC was still the higher tone even over FOX. Now CBS is the higher coverage and tone (AFC ball) compared to the lower quality and tone of FOX (NFC).
This theme here should comeback for NBC Sunday Night Football.
This takes me back to a time when there was a lack of emphasis pop culture figures promoting many leagues and also when NBC Sports was the jumpoff...Even though I was only five years old when this theme came along, I really think NBC should return to that theme or the ones used from 1989-1992, 1993, or even the one from 1995-97...AFC should come back 2 NBC, as well as the NFC returning 2 CBS...FOX is whack, but was much better back then than it is now.
Not THE team. One of them. The 90's were defined by:
The Dallas Cowboys, the Denver Broncos, the Green Bay Packers, the San Francisco 49ers, and the Buffalo Bills, among others.
I personally will remember the decade for the legends who played during it. Elway, Marino, Young, Rice, E. Smith, Aikman, Farve, B. Smith, R. White, etc.
The Steelers ERA music is the theme NBC used in the 1970s and early 1980s, which was another great NBC theme, and it was used for about 10 years or so, spanning all 4 Steelers '70s Super Bowl wins. That and this one are my two faves from the network with the peacock.
why was this used for such a short time? I love this theme and it MUST come back..this reminds me so much of the good old days in the NFL!! football just doesnt have the same "feel" anymore..I remember waking up as a kid on sundays and it seemed that there was so much energy in the air..no i get up and dont give a shit if I watch it or not..the players dont have as much of the passion anymore..like KELLY Elway Marino Moon and Montana..I really miss the way it used to be
@ddschreck or maybe cause things were alot simplier back then everything wasnt so flashy like it is today, back then everyone did everyone on their own and didnt need bands to help them out and another thing is while advanced technology is good it is ruining everything I say everything on TV in the 90s was better than it is today the only thing better today is technology thats it
cleveland, with belicheck as their head coach, pulled off a great late season upset of the defending super champion cowboys. the late eric turner was standout on defense. cleveland made the playoffs that year and won their opening divionsal round game against, ironically, the patriots, but the next season, '96 would be their last in clevand as the original incarnation of the franchise
I think this game was on a saturday? and the Browns did win 19-14 I remember thinking the 49ers would get the home field throughout the NFC playoffs for Dallas was 11-3 after this loss and the 49ers would win sunday and have a one game and a half game lead since the 49ers had already beat Dallas in 1994.
yes, it was a saturday game. it was cool back in the 90's when the networks broadcast NFL games on saturday afternoons following after the college football season had ended. now most december saturdays afternoons afre football free until the little watched late games on the NFL network. that's simply wrong.
Jim Nantz Was The Poster Boy For Brent Musburger & Pat Summerall B4 Nantz Became The "Guy" CBS Sports Was Summerall & Musburger Nantz doing Play by Play = No Passion Jim Nantz at Best is a Studio Host Guy Not Play By Play Him and Phill Simms Bore Me Dick Enburg = Passion and Summerall Was From On The Mic 1970-2002 In 2002 He Mainly Did Cowboys or 49ers Games And Part of 2003 On ESPN When Mike Patrick Was Recovering From Surgery
I heard Dick doing tennis live last night for ESPN at the Australian Open. A clear sign he's not the lead guy for CBS. For years, he was the voice of AFC football (going back to NBC), why did they demote him?
Because Nantz has been a CBS guy for twenty years. Face it, he's the face of CBS Sports. Anyway, the tennis always made it difficult for me to take Enberg seriously as a football announcer. It's sort of like Tom Hammond with the figure skating.
Correct me if i am wrong: Dick Enberg had the 3rd longest run as 'lead TV NFL announcer'in sports history (i think 19 seasons appx. 1979-1997 when NBC lost the "AFC divison package to CBS)behind only Al Micheals (1986-2007 & counting-21 seasons) & Pat Summerall(1970-2001 30 seasons?)
The game featured here was the Cleveland Browns and the Dallas Cowboys on Saturday afternoon, December 10th, 1994 on NBC
Announcers: Dick Enberg & Bob Trumpy
Coaches: Bill Belichick (Browns) & Barry Switzer (Cowboys)
Result: Browns upset the heavily favored Cowboys in Irving by the score of 19-14. The final play was Browns safety, the late Eric Turner wrapping up Cowboys tight end, Jay Novacek at the 1/2 yard line. Talk about a finish.
yes, debuted the previous Super Bowl and used for just that one season...the one they used for the following 3 seasons was good but this was better i think
