Good tip, other than your final comment which should have read. A rod should never be supported or lifted by its mid section when fighting a fish or trying to dislodge a snagged hook. Gently supporting or lifting a rod by its mid section will cause no damage.

For somebody who has never fished or been exposed to fishing in any shape or form, will find this a good video. The only problem I had was with putting the rod ends together (ferrule). In my opinion the two ends should be put together with a quarter twist until the eyes are lined up. This will reduce the chance of the ends coming apart over time, by wearing a thread into the ends rather than a straight line. Also, apply a thin film of wax to the male section. (paraffin, bees, or ferrule wax)
