I like cars that look more stock on the outside, but are modified more under the hood. Except for wheels/tires. Most stock wheels and tires suck. Too many focus on what a car looks like, and makes what it can do worse than stock by adding useless stuff. Like those ironing board wings that are popular on imports. They ruin the performance of the car. It adds too much unnecessary drag and too much down force on the rear making the car unbalanced in high speed cornering, and slower.

No, they are only harmful to top end speed. Wings are generally put on a car to make it more stable and corner better at high speed. To push the rear down so the car will not be loose in a corner. Most rear wings do not even become functional until at least 70mph. That is why cars like the Lamborghini Gallardo's wing does not come up until you hit between 70-80mph.Stock wings on cars are fine, but when you get giant ones, they hurt your car unless you race road courses.

No, it doesn't add horse power, HP comes from the motor, period. Drag Coefficient is what you are talking about. And yes, a car with less drag will be faster than the same car with body kits and a wing in a straight line. It's faster because the wind resistance on the car is lower, thus it doesn't waste as much power trying to push through the air. However, your theory about the rear wing is wrong, because down force slows a car because of drag, because wings create down force.

A rear wing does not give horsepower. HP comes from the motor, not the aerodynamics. Body kits and wings slow cars down. It's a simple fact. The more down force there is, the slower the car will be. Body kits and wings are put on something for two reasons.....stability and cornering.....not speed. In the case of a drag car, it's for stability.

Compare a 2009 Viper SRT-10's top speed to a 2009 Viper ACR's top speed.

The SRT-10's is like 205mph, and the ACR's is around 170mph. Why? Because the ACR generates a lot of down force, so that pushes the car down harder the faster it goes. So it cannot go as fast as the standard car on top speed.

If adding weight to the rear was a good idea, then why don't they add 100 pound back of sand to the rear? Or add railroad ties to the trunk?

Pro-street cars do not need much traction help at launch, they need rear stability at speed.
