  • Stella needs her own review channel.

  • I had that Controller. but It broke. loved it thou.

  • A VIRAL frequency!!!!!!!

  • Those, if I remember, were a Toys R Us brand in the late 90's. I bought one, and while it worked, the SNES controllers had a poor plug that didn't fit in the port properly. Were the Genesis version like that too?

  • you dumb-ass it's called high-frequency because the switches trigger the buttons at a high frequency and I dont think anyone in the history of gaming has ever needed theyr controller to do that it was so retarded

  • @swaggakid00010 He's joking, retard.

  • @PrrrromotionGiven You think I dont know that?

  • Does anyone know if this is supposed to work with all games? I ordered one of these and it doesn't work for my games? Is it the controller or am i supposed to be playing it with specific games? Help would be great appreciated before i send it back. :/

  • I hear it, and it's givin' me a headache.

  • Mine is the three button model, and I hold it like my snes controller.

  • The dog....does not seem to like the controller.

  • "Want this piece of chicken?"

*Dog snaps and eats the chicken like a madman- er, mad-dog*

    NOW GIVE ME THUMBS UP!

  • I got this from a garage sell :D

  • omg, I had this back in the 90s. I think I got it for my 10th birthday but it was clear, not black. I liked it because it wasnt as compact as the sega 6-button and was the same size as the 3-button. It was a very solid design, much higher quality than the 3rd party controllers are today.

  • MOAR DOGGY!

  • There are no words for how adorable that dog is! =)

  • The dog is hungry :O

  • You want this piece of chicken?

  • i have a snes high frequency controllerand it sucks thebuttons stick the dpad is awful and it still has those bump things on it like the genesis version and hurts you'r hands i dont like the snes version

  • Lol

  • I don't get it. What's the difference?

  • I hate my six button controller because it's one of those sucky after market. the buttons and even the d-pad rattles along with poor build quality.

    oh well.

  • Stella must take over when/if Mark retires. (Although he must never.) Stella is the true heir to his throne

  • I remember having this controller as a kid. I had no idea how those switches worked, nor did I know what the mode button did.

  • i play commordore 64 with Colecovision controllers

  • I am sure the controller is good enough for games like side scrolling shooters where the game it self does not allow you to just hold a button down to fire quickly or if it does, not as fast as actually rapidly tapping it your self. So this controller would be good for those games. Plus six buttons are better than three. Also what kind of dog is that?

  • Yes, yes she does want that piece of chicken!

  • lmfao! i freakin love that dog!

  • You sure eat a whole lot of chicken, lol. Was the controller even plugged in when you tried that thing with the dog?

  • that thing keeps freezing my genisis

  • Smiley Face.

Perhaps my biggest lol this year! :P

  • CHICKEN NOM NOM

  • I have this contoller exept mine is made by mad catz, and what the hell does the mode button do, I have never found a use for that.

  • I have this controller, it's nothing special, but the custom turbo options are actually really useful.

  • I have this it sucks xD

  • THE BATARANG!!!

I got this from a local retro shop couple of months ago to play me some UMK3

I guess its a branding issue (I'm from UK) but mine has an "LMP Gamestar" logo where high frequencies is, and on the bottom right it says "MD-6"

Pretty decent controller, even better criminal catcher

  • High Frequency was an exclusive label to Toys R Us at the time. So... "High Frequency" = "Toys R Us"

  • i love your dog

  • i have a snes one

  • I have a question, Mark. Why do you always review hardware on your kitchen counter?

  • im young so i could still hear it

  • you want this piece of chicken?

  • seriously, if there was a channel dedicated to stella I would TOTALLY subscribe!!!

  • wut is the mode button for?

  • @StickPeopleAndPuff when you turn on a you genesis with the the mode botton pressed it turns off the the x,y, and z bottens so you can play some of the games that only worked or worked best on a three botton controller.

  • Holy moly what a beast!

  • Sooooo...what was the point of the "high frequency" name and extra sliders? Did certain games need it? Did it fool the console into performing additional functions?

  • I really want this...

  • i have a high frequency controller

  • what does slow mo do and how does it help you play?

  • Its just like pressing start repeatedly very fast. It just pauses and unpauses the game and makes a crappy slow-motion stop frame effect. It sucks and isn't really usable.

  • What does the mode button do?

  • It basically acts as a select button on certain games using a 6 button controller. I remember Fever Pitch Soccer using it in menus, that was about it

  • I have a super nintendo high frequency controller and it dosn't work I don't know why?

  • Thats the controller i used to have!

  • lol to you want this piace of cihicken

  • just in case you drop your genesis controller into a vat of acid lol

  • lol my dog ate mty ps3 controller

  • funny dog ^_^

  • he also ate my headset

  • lol XD

  • My dog chewed up my 360 controller. Dogs hate next-gen consoles. It never happened with my SNES controller.

  • for what can i want that thing

  • get a sg progampad 2 the kick ass

  • The flatpad was horrible. IT broke pretty quick.

  • I have the same controller, except its transparent plastic...doesn't work well though. Very hard to press the buttons

  • I got a SNES version and oddly enough it even has the 6 button layout with the L and R button on the face all the way to the right, I never really got the point of that but really not bad for a 3rd party controller.

  • The SNES six button pads were mainly used for fighters like Street Fighter 2.

  • what does the mode button do?

  • @cavedweller1996 If you held the mode button when you turn on the genesis it would make the x,y, and z buttons become a,b and c not that useful but it was meant to be used with games that only used 3 buttons

  • I thought it was wireless!

  • i had one of these but my dog chewed the chord all up

  • mi sis did that to my ps2 controller :)

  • wat is this a controller or a radio

  • looked like the dog almost took your fingers lol

  • como actibo todos esos botonrs mi copu slo me deja

usar 6 botones y mi cntrol tiene 8

  • The Mode Button is the number 1 most useless button of ALL TIME!!!!!!!!!!!

  • you want this piece of chicken?

    *GULP*

  • i used to have a see through one... i dont remember if it still works, i gotta look for my Genesis stuff

  • I got one of these today!

  • you want this peice of chicken?

  • this video is funny

  • aw shit i just bought a broken see-through high frequency controller for five bucks at the swap meet

    damn :(

  • That's why you always test controllers(and what not) before you buy them.

  • Theres also a Transparent version of that controller

  • I miss that controller, and it sure did brake on me lol.

  • does it play on the Atari 2600?

  • yes.

  • @ZILOGz80VIDEOS Yes, any Sega Genesis controller will work on Colecovision, Atari 2600, Commodore 64, etc, etc, etc

  • @MrSaturn33 exceot the wireless.

  • =O

How did you know my dog ate all my other sega controllers... It's like, your. .. a classic game room, god...

  • I am interested in getting myself a Mega Drive, but it fell down my list of priorities significantly after I discovered the Ultimate Mega Drive Collection on PS2. When I can have most of the best games on the system for less than a tenner, the original system becomes significantly less appealing.

  • Yeah but the problem with them compilations is you're limited to only the games on it.

  • True, but it until I've gotten myself an original Xbox, N64, Sega Saturn and maybe a Gamecube, the Mega Drive just isn't at the top of my priority list. I'll get to it in time, don't you worry.

  • its not all about the games tho.. nostalgic feel... the fact you own the system... it's great

  • But I never owned a Mega Drive or in fact anything before the Playstation and GameBoy Color, so I won't have a nostalgic feel for the system, will I? I suppose I didn't mention that, but I meant to.

  • i've never owned a mega drive either. but i bought one online and i'm waiting for it. cause i like owning old stuff and i'm gonna start collecting all kinds of stuff :)

  • Good for you. Happy times in your future, I do see.

  • I've got the clear version of this. It's not very good. D-pad is too squishy and inaccurate. The Performance Super Pad is where it's at.

  • ur dog is awesome its so kewl :)

  • I had to fav it only for the "smily face" part

  • XYZ

    ABC!

  • ahhh my ears! my dog got nocked out!

  • i used to hav this controller unfortunetly it broke

  • I had this controller! Damn useful for the spindash!!!

  • My ears!!!@!!@$!

  • lol piece of chicken

  • I had a clear one of these, but the wire got mangled =(

  • Did you already review the Wireless GENESIS Controller?

  • HOLY FUCK I HAVE THAT!!!!!!!! OMFG

  • I have a clear Snes controller VERY similar to that. But I don't have the Sega version.

  • What does the Mode button do?

  • Sega Genesis, yeah there's my baby lol

  • I can hear it

  • same

  • Your dog is awesome!

  • Maybe the company just called 'high frequency'

    phahahaha!!!

  • I have this one with a clear shell. Cool looking, but still not as good as the sega 3 button or 6 for that matter.

  • High Frequency is actually the old label of Mad Catz

  • Eww... I was going to buy it but every madcats product I ever owned has broken. >:-(

  • @X3CuT1oNR I have yet to read that anywhere.

  • theres a better one

    the 6 button turbo pad

so much better looking than that one

lol its a 3 button controller with the 6 button modules on it

  • I picked up the three button version today. I like how you can adjust the turbo for the different buttons, but the bad thing is the d-pad feels a little weird.

  • Years ago (I'll say about 7 or 8 years ago) I went into the mall parking lot at night, as they used to have a flea market every sunday, I looked in the one dumpster, and I found this controller! I personally like it, and I have a sega 6 button (the later one with the urbo switch in the middle) and the down button on the dpad isnt that great, so I like the HF one a bit more.

  • I have that one with only one turbo. The buttons stick though. I spilled something in it years ago lol.

  • have you guys tried out the Genesis Rhino Control pad. Its 4.95 new at bestsku[dot]com

  • I have one.I have a bunch of sega controllers and these high frequency controllers and all still work.I really like the high frequency one and disagree with your opinion

  • your dog was mostly the highlight of the show but then again nice review. i like your dog.

  • That dog was the best part.

  • HIGH FREQUENCY would be refering to the high frequency of buttons pressed using the turbos...or at least I thought so...

  • the wires were made of cheese cloth.

  • frequency.

  • i use to have that, i hated it.

  • i heart your dog <3

  • Funny dog.

  • Ive never used one of those controllers but I did know about them. I saw one at a flea market not too long back and almost picked it up but they wanted an outrageous price for it. So I had to past on it. Dude you dog rules!

  • god i hated this controler

  • I have two broken versions of this controller (one six button, one three button) and one that works. I think I'm going to cannibalize them to fix my official three buttons...

  • I like ur dog thats pimpin

  • COOL

  • that dog is so freakin cool! great review!

  • Hmm... Listening for high frequencies or chicken? I'm with Stella! CHICKEN! ;)

  • best ending ever!

  • Another great video, nice work Mark

  • awesome, thanks man

  • coool

  • ROFL your dog is awesome! =D

  • That chicken thing was so random.

  • First view! Hey, just wondering, where do you get your retro stuff? Ebay? Great vids, keep 'em coming!
