Many are deciding between Logi Driving Force GT and Thrustmaster F430. Even though they sayd F430 did worst on that test, it still has much much better pedals than Driving Force GT. Help me make that decision hehe
dude, the biggest point of getting the gt3 wheel for me was the force feedback, now that youre saying that the g27 force feedback was better as in feeling the track, you gotme really confused, so basically can you guys explain the difference in force feedback only but in depth between the g27 and the gt3 rs v2 , im sure a lot of people would appreciate it.
I think the gt3 rs is better then the g27. because it cost 180 for just the wheel and paddle shifters then clubsports and shifter makes it too 260$ which is 40 less then the g27 and it comes with seq shifter and the excellent belt drive 3 motor force feedback.
i dont have a problem with the price of any of them , but why is the 911 turbo s priced higher than the gt3 rs? is it because fo its xbox compatibility ? also so the best wheel for racing on the road , i dont do any oval racing , hardly any rally , so for the road on tracks like silverstone and all , which wheel would you reccomend being the best out of the 911 turbo s , the gt3 rs and the g27?

Anyway, how did you get the Clubsports to work with all of the wheels? Will a combo of G25 or G27 with Clubsports still work on PS3? If compatibility was not an aspect, what wheel would have rated #1? I don't care about Micro$oft. I don't do PC racing. I'm tossed between the GT3RS V2 and G25. The Clubsport pedals and the smoothness of the Fanatec setups are what's interesting. Currently using a G25.
Heya, just a quick question. You rate the Thrustmaster lower than you do the DFGT. However you rate it better on this review here: youtube.com/watch?v=6lwfSUKnmqI
I'm trying to decide which mid-priced wheel to get for the PC for the new F1 2010 game, while both your reviews are helpful they kind of contradict each other. Any suggestions for F1 2010?
@RockeRkid28 You won't find one with a clutch for $ 130 but you can find a decent one without a clutch. If you are in Canada, your best bet is probably Kijiji. If you are in America, then you have two options. One is the Thrustmaster Ferrari F430 force feedback racing wheel. It is an 11 inch wheel, shaped exactly like the one in the F430. There is a Magneto switch that can control things in game, as well as wheel mounted paddle shifters. The sad part is there is no shifter and clutch. The only
hey im just getting into racing games. i have a ps3 and some racing games, but i wanna improve my game and get a racing wheel. i have a 130 dollar budget. i would like a wheel that comes whith pedals, has a clutch, and a gear shifter for more realism. if you no of a wheel that fits most of those requirements ecspessialy the budget please let me no.
The Turbo S is an utterly fantastic wheel and I love everything about it. But mine has broken twice. In my experience, it's not the most reliable. Maybe I'm unlucky.
I stumbled across this channel earlier today and was blown away by the in depth reviews you guys make! Subscribed.
I own a 360 and a ps3 so just to make it absolutely clear: The Turbo S is the ONLY wheel thats compatible for both systems? If so i'm getting it. What pedals would you recomend for it?
@xxCrazySmooth Yes the Turbo S works on all three. There's a package right now with the Clubsport pedals "Ultimate Edition" I believe it's called for like $399.
I'd like to just say that if Fanatec sold the 911 Turbo S with the Alcantara leather, and if they offered a better deal when buying in combination with the Clubsport pedals, pro racers everywhere would be happier and the company much, much richer
I'd like to just say that if Fanatec sold the 911 Turbo S with the Alcantara leather, and if they offered a better deal when buying in combination with the Clubsport pedals, pro racers everywhere would be happier and the company much, much richer
I purchased the GT3RS and loving it. I opted out of the TurboS because it's unjustifiably expensive.
GT3RS Clubsport Edition with Fanatec Shifters = $350 USD
TurboS Clubsport Edition with Fanatec Shifters = $450 USD
The vanilla version of the TurboS is inherently compatible with Xbox360, but you need to spend more to get the dongle (included in Clubsport Edition) to interface with PC/PS3. So, you're basically paying $100 extra for your true cross-platform compatibility.
EDIT: It seems the Clubsport Edition of the TurboS was "limited edition" so you must buy the components individually now. TurboS w/ dongle and shifters = $350 + $199 for CSP = $549 ...I don't know what Fanatec is thinking, but I personally think this is only temporary, demand is high, and supply is low. I hope cross-compatibility is worth the $200 extra price tag.
You don't need the donle on the PC and PS3 unless you want to run wireless. You could also go without Clubsports.. So for $350 you can get a Turbo S, Standard pedals and a shifter for $350 ;-) .. Standard pedals are about as good as G25 pedals.
...also, Fanatec lists it as a limited edition wheel. Does that mean Microsoft limits the amount of wheels they can make per license or does Fanatec plan on making another wheel? Hmmmm...
The more I think about it, it was probably a logical and tough business decision. If they offered the TurboS at the same price, it would put consumers in a tough position. They're almost identical, except for looks and cross-platform compatibility. If they were the same price, Fanatec would also risk phasing out their GT3RS wheel prematurely. Also, since there is a lot of demand for a high-end Xbox360 compatible wheel, the premium price tag will be worth it for the hardcore 360ers.
The investment to develop such a multiplatform wheel is huge and the market is small. Thats why we rather sell 10.000 for sure and quickly instead of risking to sit on our investment.
I am sure that the demand is higher than the 10.000 and the Clubsport edition is already sold out but by making this wheel exclusive it will also keep its value for the customers. Try to find one on ebay...
Another great episode, great to see that I have officially the best of the best wheels to play with. (Not that I was ever in any doubt LOL)
Like Thomas I am also confused how the PWTS and GT3RS managed to score so differently on plug 'n' play when they are virtually the same in that respect 1.5/5 is a big margin for such a lack of real difference.
For one you have to back date your PS3 for the GT3 RS to work properly. Also there's no drivers included in the package. The PWTS does not have this problem and binds in seconds to the 360. It would have scored a 5 in plug and play if the drivers were in the box fotr the PC. The cost was based off of $300 as the max since the G27 can't be bought without pedals. Cost was based on full packages, not just the wheel.
The GT3RS is not sold as a PS3 wheel and therefore it is hard to understand that it gets a deduction because of the date issue.
If you make a "wheel only" test and consider the price of a full package it probably would have been good to tell. It is still not logic why you did not take the cheaper pedals to bundle them with the wheel so the price of the GT3RS would be 230 instead of 300.
Anyway thanks for the great review and it is an honor that both of our wheels won.
As for the drivers, this is something from the past. I never install what comes in the box, I always go check online for the latest version, this should be standard and removing the drivers from the box is a good thing to make people look for latest drivers, IMHO.
About the price compared to G27 kit, that is not fair... If Logitech doesn't split and give you the option to buy only the wheel, they should be penalized and not Fanatec. ;-)
Please give us some time as it is a bit hectic. If you dont use clutch and gas simultaneously it should work fine for now and we get it fixed for sure.
It bothers me on race starts when you need to keep you RPM high and release the clutch progressively to get a good start. As soon as I start to press the gas pedal, the car moves forward and it screws my launch...
Got a few S&G before figuring it out as being an issue with the pedal itself.
Gotta point something out folks. GT for the PSP doesn't have a career mode. It has "Driving Challenges". The lack of an actual career mode has upset quite a few fans too. I've got the game and enjoy it a great deal.., but wanted to let you guys (and gal-the beautiful Jessica Lopez) at SimRacing.., that the game doesn't have the career mode.
I wish it was the same thing :-) Several other gamer outfits on the Tube who did indepth reviews all gave thumbs down for the lack of a dedicated career mode. The driving challenges are primarily there for "practice" and to familiarize the user with the controls while strenghtening driving skills for the game. Good review on the title too :) Glad to see you guys gave it a favorable review.
We don't really look at the gaming aspects of it when rating it like those outfits. .. The career / challenges aren't part of our ratings. It's mostly about the driving experience.
Come on Darin. It is great that you announced the PWGT3RS as your personal preference!
So you are saying that in your rating it does not have an impact on the "cost" rating if a product costs 300 USD or 180 USD. It is fine with me but perhaps not really 100% logical. But i dont want to be greedy and you can keep the current ranking in order to avoid more frustrated G27 owners and fans :)
Who says we won't ?? :-) We actually have it here and will check it out. We had vowed not to review a Wii racing game after NFS Undercover.. We'll see if it's worthy of getting rated / reviewed.. Thanks for the post.
awesome, Yea nfs undercover was pretty shoking, its got great framerate on the wii, just was wondeeing what you guys thought of it, to be honest though I am looking forward to the f1 2010 on the 360 and ps3!
@LFSvidMan; I agree with you, the Pantera is an Italian exotic but the confusion arose when De Tomaso used the Ford 351cid Cleavland V8 mounted to the ZF transaxle to propel the Pantera. The confusion is further compounded because Ford imported the Pantera to the US and sold them at Lincoln Mercury dealerships. Given that only a total of 7,200 Panteras were produced by De Tomaso and around 5,500 units were bought in the US alone the confusion is 'almost' understandable.
I saw the Camaro typo and almost killed Shaun ;-) .. I mention in the piece that it's not built by Ford and that it was built by DeTomaso, but i wasn't positive.. Thanks "piwright42" for the history on the car.. cool stuff.
@Lasukie not to have buyers remorse but my dfgt pedals broke after 2 days of use and i dint play hard and feels really cheap upgrade 2 fanatec turbo or g25 .. by far fo an ex $100
I've been using DFGT for a few months and I'm satisfied. It's really good, doesn't cost that much and the only thing imho it lacks is the clutch pedal and an H-shifter. But these things aren't essential.
Oh, haha added Darin aswell but his friendslist is full. I would assume because his name has no spaces and yours doesnt, its something you guys didnt clarify in your Forza 3 episode. Hey Jess XD
Hey Shaun, Just added you to my friends list on XBL. Been interested in sims since GT4 (sure most wouldn't call that a sim :P), but invested in a Logitech DFGT earlier this year and been playing GTR:EVO, GT5P and just picked up Forza 3. I should be getting my Fanatec Turbo S in January (hopefully). Oh this is Kilborn230 btw.

actually it also has usb the dongle is if you want wireless
ibuycheap64 2 years ago
@bystander85
All Turbo S wheels can be connected to PS3/PC through USB cable, so the RF dongle is not needed.
Turbo S Clubsport edition and Standard edition has RF dongle included, the Pure edition doesn't have RF dongle included.
erahk64 2 years ago
Ok, you guys are right about the RF dongle....Adjusted price is:
$250 + $50 + $200 = $500
That's still $150 more than the GT3RS just to get Xbox360 compatibility.
bystander85 2 years ago
You don't need the donle on the PC and PS3 unless you want to run wireless. You could also go without Clubsports.. So for $350 you can get a Turbo S, Standard pedals and a shifter for $350 ;-) .. Standard pedals are about as good as G25 pedals.
simracingtonight 2 years ago
I realize this... Let's make it really simple:
GT3RS pure, no pedals/shifters = $170
Turbo S pure, no pedals/shifters = $250
...that's $80 difference for cross-compatibility.
If you're buying the CSP anyways:
GT3RS Clubsport Edition = $300 (no shifters)
TurboS add CSP = $250 + 200 = $450 (no shifters)
...that's $150 difference if you want cross-compat with CSP. ($80 more for cross compat and lost $70 savings on CSP).

why didnt you review f1 2009 on the wii, its a better version plus the controls are better
Gtrevolutionmad 2 years ago
Who says we won't ?? :-) We actually have it here and will check it out. We had vowed not to review a Wii racing game after NFS Undercover.. We'll see if it's worthy of getting rated / reviewed.. Thanks for the post.

How exactly is a De Tomaso an "American exotic" when it's from Modena, Italy? Seriously... and you got a typo in "camaro cup" in your top cars list
LFSvidMan 2 years ago 2
@LFSvidMan; I agree with you, the Pantera is an Italian exotic but the confusion arose when De Tomaso used the Ford 351cid Cleavland V8 mounted to the ZF transaxle to propel the Pantera. The confusion is further compounded because Ford imported the Pantera to the US and sold them at Lincoln Mercury dealerships. Given that only a total of 7,200 Panteras were produced by De Tomaso and around 5,500 units were bought in the US alone the confusion is 'almost' understandable.

So it is a GERMAN car because it has the ZF translaxle! ;)

I'll buy that for a dollar, Fanatec1! XD

I saw the Camaro typo and almost killed Shaun ;-) .. I mention in the piece that it's not built by Ford and that it was built by DeTomaso, but i wasn't positive.. Thanks "piwright42" for the history on the car.. cool stuff.

Have the DFGT's sequential shifter increased it's score?
SolarPL 2 years ago
yes.. we gave it a point on the "extras" because of the shifter.

@Lasukie not to have buyers remorse but my dfgt pedals broke after 2 days of use and i dint play hard and feels really cheap upgrade 2 fanatec turbo or g25 .. by far fo an ex $100
Perazzi11 2 years ago
I've been using DFGT for a few months and I'm satisfied. It's really good, doesn't cost that much and the only thing imho it lacks is the clutch pedal and an H-shifter. But these things aren't essential.
