It's not only the Fox Sports that is blocked, but FX & National Geographic are also not available thru DISH. I love shows like Sunny in Philly and The League, and it would be a definite dealbreaker for me if I can't get FX as part of my programming. If DirecTV pulled this nonsense, I would drop them like a bad habit!
Contracts are fulfilled at different times with different companies and thats when negotiations start. also keep in mind the relationship between News Corp. and Directv.
FOX wants dish to give them fair compensation for their programming, they dont want customers to pay more. FOX getting fair compensation for its content doesnt mean customers have to pay extra (unless dish screws them).
and how does receiving all the FOX Sports channels on dish result in fewer choices?
get the facts and then cancel dish and get DIRECTV folks.
@perrymason1It is the "programmers/owners" not the program deliverers (cable, DISH, DIRECTV) that set the prices and keep causing our bills to go up and up and up.
Its just not Fox, if they give into fox, any other programmer/networks will want to increase their rates also, then that will affect the bill you pay.
The interesting thing is, both Dish and Directv have roughly similar pricing for their packages, and Directv customers are getting this programming without any huge increase in consumer costs. Uverse and Charter have also maintained these services without any apparent uproar about pricing from their customers. These comments are based on either personal experience, or observations on sports forums where the issue is discussed often, by many, many people with different programming packages.
@droberts333 I'm both a DISH & DTV retailer. A 4-room system including DVR has outlet/DVR fees of $20/mo on DISH and $22 - $25/mo on DTV. AT200 on Dish has an everyday price is $55/mo while Choice Xtra on Direct is $64/mo. Although both companies offer HD Free to new customers, only DISH offers it to current customers too. Using this setup (including HD) current DISH customers pay $75/mo while current DTV customers pay $96 - $99/mo.
@droberts333 lol you don't know crap about their contracts. they probably were all paying about the same price before dish's contract ended. uverse/charter/directv haven't had to increase their rates because THEIR CONTRACT HASN"T ENDED!! you can bet that fox will pull the same crap with them when it's their time to renew the contract
charlie why don't you do everyone a favor and file for chapter 11

He would be doing only you a favor. So you can go suck it.
FOX is entertaining, but it sucks.
