Jamie Gold is such a scum bag. He made an agreement with his friend to pay him half of his winnings in the world series and when he won the 12 million he didnt give his buddy shit. His friend had to take him to court to get his money and he won haaha. Fuck jamie gold
There seriously is something wrong here. Aside from the "top top" schtick, he clearly his signalling after the flop with his head shaking. Whether Kort misinterpreted it, who knows. but cmon wtf is that
you said top/top ? I wouldnt call you I said top/top.. sorry sorry I thought u said chop/chop. HAHAHA gold yes is a donk. watch his KK vs farhas AA to know for sure
wtf was this about? why is he telling the guy what he has? and why is the other guy telling him what he has? and why does he apologize after calling with the best hand like they had some agreement or something? how come the WSOP officials didn't do anything about this?
I don't really understand what is going on here. Could you explain me? (I'm not english). Did Gold say sth wrong? And why Gold's opponent said "me too"? He didn't have top kicker.
@Steffaneq Jamie Gold is chip leader here. One of the short stacks moves in on him. He has Top pair with an Ace kicker, which he's never going to fold. Yet even before the guy announces all-in Gold makes a face to him, trying to warn him that he has a big hand. When he moves in anyway, Gold doesn't say "I call" immediately but gives a speech which indicates he would hate to knock that player out.
Tournament poker being, of course, about knocking out as many players as possible.
Why is everyone bashing Gold for this video? I've seen a lot, and I mean A LOT of videos similar to this one where a guy, who is about to make the decision of calling/folding an all in say what hand their holding. It's pretty common imo. I remember a video of Daniel Negreanu, where his opponent forced him to go allin or fold, right after the move he said "I flop the nuts again and get outdrawn" or something along those lines. How is it different?
Dear god that is just an awful collusion, who would do that in the main event of the championship of poker... Poker is not fun when people collide against you! you should play your friends like you play other people, play best poker and be your best!
please could anyone tell me whats going on here ?? why is jamie sayin i thought you said top top, when he never actually said it.. ? what the hell happened here ?
you are a moron if you actually watched the coverage of this tourney from start to finish you would have noticed that he talked like that with everyone which is also why he should have been disqualified from the tournament several different times because you are not allowed to talk about your hand in the manner that he did.
None of the 4 points you raised prove collusion. You're simply interpreting each of his acts to be. 1) Could be interpreted as a false tell in that Gold acted like he was disgusted at the flop. It's a way to goad the guy into betting into a pot with a weaker hand. It's done all of the time. 2) Another false tell. The stare down is used to project "false strength" to convince your opponent you're weak (when you're really strong). Viktor Blom once did that slow-playing trips 6's & won.
@superdave31 The look Jamie gives at the beginning is obviously meant to warn his opponent and keep him from betting. Maybe he likes the guy and doesn't want him to get eliminated.
mind games or not...Gold was waay outta line right there. you dont protect other players in this format or lay down the best of it cuz your the massive chip leader. i like Gold, but he was beyond outta line here
@Tehui1974 how is this not collusion? jamie is telling him not to bet by shaking his head when the flop comes guy goes all anyway and then jamie tells him his hand. guy could say i flopped flush so that jamie would fold? how is that fair to other players?
@SurvivingTheHorizon There were only 2 players in the hand, so I don't see the chat as being an issue of collusion. In tornument poker, there can only be one. I'm all for the chat at the poker table (as long as there's only 2 in the hand) because I think it adds to the psychological element of the game.
@Tehui1974 this clearly goes beyond this hand. there are circumstances in which this could be downright cheating. i dont see how the other players didnt say anything. look on google for jamie gold collusion and his interview with bluff magazine. to me he basically admitted to cheating by signaling to another player when it was ok to raise in front of him.
@SurvivingTheHorizon Do you think Daniel Negreanu crosses the line with the chit chat? I know he likes players talking to him because it helps with his read
Tehui1974 its not the chit chat thats wrong, your missing the point here. gold said to bluff magazine that he would signal to players to his right when it was ok to raise in front of him or not. he would look at his cards and then give them the ok signal to steal. if he liked his cards (presumably- or just wanted to steal himself) he would tell them to hold off. throughout the tourney gold would say i have the nuts, and would induce calls, thats fine... making deals with other players is not ok
Not for nothing..but Jamie Gold was right. Jamie called out that he had "top, top" and the guy said "me too". So Jamie, figuring the other guy paired his Jack with an Ace kicker, called so that they could chop the pot. His partner wasn't a very good team player..he should've caught on.
It's called collusion. You can't play with other players just because you're friends. People pay $10,000 to do this. He should have been penalized, e.g. not played the rest of this day.
Its funny you say that. I have a friend that argues that pros collude all the time, and that's how they win in tournaments. I didn't think it was true, but this video calls it into question for me.
@WSidis it dosent matter how much they pay 10k must be alot to you...but it dosent matter and he did nothing wrong the guy went all in and he told him what he had to get a reaction
Gold embarrassed himself on HSP. He's gone, but now they have Phil Ivey. What was fun to watch and listen to, especially the player's lively discussions, sucks with Ivey playing. The players hardly say anything with the boring Ivey sitting there, not talking to anyone, not joining in a single discussion with another player. Other players are too worried Ivey will look at their comments as politically incorrect, so they don't say anything. With Ivey, the show sucks.
jamie was talkin crap. he did talk the way he does in this vid on several occasions, even showing an opponent one card while the guy considering a call (not allowed and hand is counted as mucked - even tho its allin) gold won by hitting the best of it.
@worldofoutlaws9 what's the connexion with this vid??? place the comment at a hsp vid. Gold is just so soft, really lucky bastard at that wsop, Lamey Gold
when i seen this for the 1st time i knew he had a partner. that guy was his partner. his mother did not have a clue but jamie gold is playing a dirty game. but he still a smart player and is dangerouse at the tables and does not have to cheat to beat anyone. he is just bored and has to get an edge. jamie gold is dangerouse and i don't think i would whant to play him
they are obviously in some sort of deal to stay out of each others way...theres a couple subtleties i picked up after i watched it again...after he flops tptk he looks at him and the commentatr even points out "gold just gave him a look" and then as soon as he goes all-in u can see the reaction by gold like "noo wat r u doing?!" n then at like 34 secs he says "i wouldnt have..." and then gives him a glare with his eyes...you can clearly see he gives him a look like "dammit u just messed it up"
and even before the "strange ooshka ooshka look" as soon as the flop comes out jamie kinda shifts in his chair n shakes his head like damn i got this hand i hope he doesnt bet...when else would a player seem dismayed that he jus flopped a great hand....and then even after the guy goes all-in gold is like pained to make the call...when else would a player be seemingly upset to pick up more chips
Clearly they are partners. The reason Gold sighs with frustration on his call is because he has to call his partners "top top" that he thinks might have the Ace diamond kicker which would beat him if a diamond were to hit instead of split. Either way they are partners and this is very common in the poker circuit, most partners however aren't as blatant.
They use chip signals to inform their partners of their position. Cant hate Jamie Gold for being obvious atleast he is up front about it.
what a lier this guys is. he's so patronizing and shady. 'i thought u said chop chop' jamie says. the guy didn't say anything that comes close to that you fkin douche bag
What Jamie appears to mean is that Kort saying "me too" implied he also had "top top" and that they would "chop chop" the hand. Still confusing as hell. It's odd that Kort apologizes to Jamie for giving him his stack.
Any idiot can play and win a tournament. The luck factor is too big, esp in a big field mtt.
The best players in the world are those who play cash poker. Tournaments are good for poker though as they feed the cash games with fresh fish.
Just look at Phil Hellmuth. He is considered one of the best nl mtt guys and yet I bet he would be a loser at 1-2nl online... not to mention Jamie Gold and Yang etc.
also take into consideration you ahve some guys who are very good at multi table tournaments. It is luck you have some guys who know how to play them very well.
None the less, winning a tournament doesnt mean much, placing in tournaments over and over again does.
lol that's because you suck at tournament poker. thank you for your expert analysis and your 2 cents. I will bet that you would clean out Phil Helmuth too. you weiner
The impropriety is in making it seem like they were in cahoots in some way (saying he wouldn't have called if...)
It sure did seem that there could be some agreement between the two... cheating is such a huge factor in poker (since beats are so bad... emotions... it's easy to feel cheated)
But if that is the case (that they were working together in some way), you probably can't find a more classic definition of cheating (short of being in cahoots with the dealer) in poker.
he didnt do anything wrong in this hand and hes an ok guy outside of the tables. however he isnt a very good poker player. he got lucky early on in the main event in 06 and pretty much had an amazing chip lead over everyone the whole time. if he didnt have such a huge number of chips he never would have won. i mean what has he done since? im pretty sure he hasnt won a tournement since or even final tabled one
I believe this is how Jamie Gold got the chip lead & kept it. He constantly talked shit to his opponents until they made their move. Usually the wrong move.
gold shows very well how a gigantic retard can win any tournament

when i seen this for the 1st time i knew he had a partner. that guy was his partner. his mother did not have a clue but jamie gold is playing a dirty game. but he still a smart player and is dangerouse at the tables and does not have to cheat to beat anyone. he is just bored and has to get an edge. jamie gold is dangerouse and i don't think i would whant to play him

Each time i watch this I despise Gold even more. He his vibe is so dishonest.

I don't get this at all.
Kort only said, "me too" but Gold's saying he thought the other guy said, "chop chop"
Not to mention, what incentive does Gold have at this point to be saying stuff like that?!?
People say it's close to cheating. How? And what does he have to gain from it?
If someone could explain this, that'd be awesome.

I don't really know, but it seems as if they were teamplaying

they are obviously in some sort of deal to stay out of each others way...theres a couple subtleties i picked up after i watched it again...after he flops tptk he looks at him and the commentatr even points out "gold just gave him a look" and then as soon as he goes all-in u can see the reaction by gold like "noo wat r u doing?!" n then at like 34 secs he says "i wouldnt have..." and then gives him a glare with his eyes...you can clearly see he gives him a look like "dammit u just messed it up"
kp1022 2 years ago
and even before the "strange ooshka ooshka look" as soon as the flop comes out jamie kinda shifts in his chair n shakes his head like damn i got this hand i hope he doesnt bet...when else would a player seem dismayed that he jus flopped a great hand....and then even after the guy goes all-in gold is like pained to make the call...when else would a player be seemingly upset to pick up more chips
kp1022 2 years ago

PokerPlayer77 2 years ago
What Jamie appears to mean is that Kort saying "me too" implied he also had "top top" and that they would "chop chop" the hand. Still confusing as hell. It's odd that Kort apologizes to Jamie for giving him his stack.

Jamie Gold, Chris Moneymaker, Jerry Yang....How can they all suck and still manage to win the ultimate prize of poker!

There is a reason its called donkaments.
MrVandalay 2 years ago 4
also take into consideration you ahve some guys who are very good at multi table tournaments. It is luck you have some guys who know how to play them very well.
None the less, winning a tournament doesnt mean much, placing in tournaments over and over again does.
fresh81steez 2 years ago
lol that's because you suck at tournament poker. thank you for your expert analysis and your 2 cents. I will bet that you would clean out Phil Helmuth too. you weiner
pklip001 2 years ago
OK I will give you another example: Darvin Moon. This superfish managed to get 2nd in the biggest tourney.
lol at mtt donks.
And yes, I would love to play a lot of sc "tourney pros" in a 6max cashgame.
Any random idiot can be taught what to do with a typical mtt stack but put them in cashgame 200bb deep and they are clueless.
MTTs are good for poker tho as they feed us cashplayers with a constant flow of r3tards.

Yeah right, that's why he owes his partner half his winnings and he had to sue him to get it.

I don't quite get this. He seems to being sarcastic but he's not funny with it and his opponent thinks he's being genuine.
Is he sarcastic 'cos normally you should be funny and sarcastic. Not just a prick?

I believe this is how Jamie Gold got the chip lead & kept it. He constantly talked shit to his opponents until they made their move. Usually the wrong move.
