Season Five was great, yet I felt i was a spectator rahter than actually being part of it. It played like a film with a plot, a clear and defined beginning middle and ending. Yet the previous Seasons were more about realism of life, the filth the darkness and the convictions. I was a part of The Wire. S5 was merely there to wrap things up, but not really a season to show a way of life. The journalism insert was merely a filler. Yet Season five was still great

Disagree completely. The journalism aspect was fantastic and added another fascinating dimension to the show. If you really followed along from the beginning, then the other aspects, such as daily project life, etc. would have become almost familiar--and yes, Season 5 being the last season, obviously it had to wrap things up (sadly), but it felt right.

it might be good the wire stopped at 5 seasons, because season 5 was just lame compared the brilliant impeccable and best season on the show, Season 4. if there was a season 6, maybe they would have ran out of great material. people have no clue how difficult it is to come up with such astonishing script episode-after-episode, kudos to david simon and ed burns = innovtive geniuses!!

In my opinion great show all five season. Each season played an integral part of the big picture. The docks, the politics, the streets, the schools, the press. One corellates well with the other.

Greatest thing about this show and season. They didn't give it a storybook ending like most movies or shows, and they kept it completely real. I think Omar gettin killed without going out in a shootout, and also by a kid, I think that alone makes the statement hard to argue with...I know most people thought omar would live, just as i did.

season 5 was by far the weakest, think too many only watch this show for guns and gangsters and dont appreciate the inteligence of the whole thing, season 2 is brilliant but is slower than the others, i advise anyone to watch it again who thinks season 5 is better

I would tend to agree...but it's very hard to duplicate seasons 1 and 3...damn those were the best. Season 2 was an important season more than a great season. Season 4 was great because you saw it through young eyes. Nonetheless it was a great show...I truly miss it.
