This Keynesian attitude is an excuse for fiscal irresponsibility. All of the stimulus money went to purchase bad debt and bail out the banks and large corporations (GM). If you've read the book on Keynesian economics you would know that the theory is based on a "Controlled Economy" not a "Free Market Economy". Too many variables in the latter, that's why it didn't work. $5.1 trillion gone and nothing has changed.

It is important to remember that the money printed is borrowed and contributes to a deficit, once the economy return to speed the money should be repaid in boom times returning that rate to normal. Also a useful mechanism is lowering interst rates. Stimulus is essentially a short term party trick to restor confidence into a market, the amount has to be caculated.

This Keynesian attitude is an excuse for fiscal irresponsibility. All of the stimulus money went to purchase bad debt and bail out the banks and large corporations (GM). Washington helps out their buddies and the rest of America suffers. If you've read the book on Keynesian economics you would know that the theory is based on a "Controlled Economy" not a "Free Market Economy". Too many variables in the latter, that's why it didn't work. $5.1 trillion gone and nothing has changed.

So why should they try to predict and regulate those markets? I'm supporting Ron Paul because I'd rather have the choice on what I'm doing with my money then be told what is happening with it. By printing this "stimulus" the market is flooded and thus reducing the value.Hence inflation/devaluation.What everyone needs to know is that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.There are no exceptions.This applies to the economy as well.

@1steve726 Its a good point and a down fall Keynesian economics. If it works the price you pay will be an accelerated inflation rate. It is important to remember that the money printed is borrowed and contributes to a deficit, once the economy return to speed the money should be repaid in boom times returning that rate to normal. Also a useful mechanism is lowering interst rates. Stimulus is essentially a short term party trick to restor confidence into a market, the amount has to be caculated.

If it isnt obvious already that the GFC came about not exclusively but primarily from lack of regulation in the american banking system from a republican government who believe in a laizze-faire approuch to economics, I dont know where you get your information. Secondly Keynesian economics has proven time and time again as the most effective way to stem/reverse an economic downturn.
