Great video, but I was wondering whether or not there was an error in the video at 0:45. For 32.7 + 1, the answer is 33.7 but in the video it was rounded down to 33. Is it supposed to be rounded up to 34 instead, or is it just supposed to be rounded down?
@sciencegenius123 according to the sig fig rounding rule showed here the ones place which is the 1 doesn't go as far out as 32.7 its less so you round to the ones place so your answer would be 33 not 34. Hope that helped :)
Yes, this was pointed out to me in a rather more tactful manner by a chemistry teacher a week ago...this video had been out for nearly two years and no one had caught it, including me. I need to rework this video, but in the meantime..."failed"? Really?
@andrewmofizzy If you watched the music video, you will see that when adding or subtracting (as this problem does), you round to the place of least PRECISION, not to the smallest number of significant figures. It's very important to keep the rules for +- separate from those for X/.
this helped a lot thank you sir!!
