An ad for Van Halen's new album came on before this. I thought it looked not too bad but a VH fan was REALLY slagging off Springsteen. If their fans don't respect the boss then I don't want to be one of them!
This is still my favorite Springsteen song. Gives me goosebumps and brings tears to my eyes everytime. Saw it live so many times. Can't believe Danny and the Big Man are gone, but they'll live forever won't they? Thank you youtube. <3

Danny and Clarence were Gifts from the gods of music to us. They unconditionally unwrapped their notes and graced their audience with E STREET BAND love for each and every one of us to enjoy and embrace. I believe that Danny and Clarence are busy at this moment choosing which musician waiting in the wings will be honored with THE GIFT to keep the circle of musical greatness alive and well. I am hoping that THE BOSS is shopping for some shoes. My heart is in Asbury Park . I am tired.
Thank you God for Bruce for one of the most beautiful songs. i couldn't ask for a more awesome song in my name. You made my life..believe me, this song can make me cry
Danny, We all still miss you here in Flemington. I'll never forget the time you spent with my sister and I backstage showing us around, introducing us to the other band members and just hanging out in your dressing room before the show. You could not have been nicer to us. Thank you. I always thought you deserved more respect, but I understand now that you did not like being in the limelight but preferred to stay in the shadows. That's OK. Rest in peace.
I took my 14 yr old daughter to see BRUCE for the first time and the last for the original E STREET BAND thank you DANNY it was beautiful you will always live in our HEARTS THANK YOU
My buddy and me were freshmens in college during the filming of this song. I remember being at this concert and standing next to my buddy, knowing their was some issues with Dannys health. Out of respect and love for the song, and despite the bitching from the old(er) folks behind us, we stood up the whole time and sang along. Might have been the only 2 giving a standing ovation but believe me, it was worth it.
"yeah, love me tonight, for I may never see you again."
Jesus, that's poignant. The fact that they are blood brothers, this as a fitting tribute to Danny boy, more than Sandy girl.
He flew away home to be in Heaven with all of the other angels that blessed us for a time, such as this one. Love, it's the only thing that remains forever.
@jerseymike11, love is still the only thing that remains and lingers forever. It never dies. Amusements all crumble and wash away into the waves in a sea of forgetfulness.
@cb91t Actually that is true. Sandy's arcade was towards the South end of the boardwalk close to the Casino but came about many years after the song was released. It closed about the same time as the Palace did (1988). But you are correct in that the song has nothing to do with the arcade. The owner's just tried to capitalize by using the song to reference it. One of those songs I have to play on Memorial Day or as we think of it " Summer's Unofficial Start "
There comes a time where you begin to lose people you thought would be by your side forever. A beautiful swan song from the two of them that's a gift to the rest of us.
I was at this concert. It was the first Springsteen show I'd seen. This was one of the only songs on the set list I didn't know, and regrettably I spent the whole song waiting for something more exciting to happen. I wish now I could have appreciated the significance of this song at the time. It's a beautiful song.

Everybody should listen to this on July 4th, much more inspiring than jingoistic "patriotic" music.

continua a suonare la tua fantini danny e noi a cantare una struggente Sandy, that waitress I was seeing lost her desire for me
I spoke with her last night, she said she won't set herself on fire for me anymore...

@jerseymike11 That's not true, Sandy refers to a woman. The singer is tired of "hangin' in them dusty arcades" and "chasin' the factory girls."
