There has to be a balance of course. . . Jesus and Paul were very clear about fasting. When Paul asked God to relieve his thorn in the flesh, God repeatedly said no.
AND Paul said that practices of physical denial have a certain wisdom in terms of discipline. Of course Catholics have gone too far many times in history . . . but many Protestants go too far in denying the mystery and power of ritual and ascetism. .
I don't think Jesus and Paul were very clear on fasting. Neither really explained what it's for. Paul said physical discipline was of "little value" and I think he was talking about working out. 1tim 4 8. Is that what you're referring to? On denial and harsh treatment he says it's of "no value." Col. 2:23 Paul's pleas for healing don't look like a ritual at all either. I don't think you've demonstrated your point.

I ownder if we all forgot a stage of our evolution ?
it seems like, perhaps we are IN hell, and the govt are the demons, and they keep eating us, over and over, relentlesly finding new ways to harm us.
And when we die, we go to heaven, or stay in hell.
It owuld explain a lot.
