these films Aare amazing capturing the sould of macau back then i never understood why we didnt do it filming more with good cameras theres bunch pics and movies but they never capture the city like you did maybe its because you were looking from an outsider view
For me the food in macau is good and I never gamble. I believe Macau is still a nice city to spent a few days to compare with Hong Kong. Though there are a lot of casinos but the city is still worth to have a walk and take some photos. It is still pretty and full of style.
In this clip, at time 1:10 to 1:16 was where my old home was from when I was born to 1963 when my family moved to Hong Kong. Our house was about 10 yards from the picture on the right. I can tell the time was before 1961 because the street was surfaced by stones then. In 61, they paved the streets with cement. The population of Taippa was about 1000. The population should be 50 to 100 times more now. They removed all the montains to build high rises.
no macau tower, no venetian, no peoples liberation force...

As Portugueses & Englishmen are quite different, so were my impressions of both colonies during my visit in 1993!

My father told me that he was interned in Taipa for the duration of the war for defying a Japanese officer.

@MysticDr - Must have been a terrible time for him. Most people talk little of what they experienced then.
