The olnly reason why this crash happened is because the safety car was traveling at (I think) 167 KM/H. Luckily, both drivers survived, even Tetsuya Ota, the driver of the Ferrari. Thanks to Shinichi Yamaji (Driver of the RX-7 who stopped by the F355) using his own fire extinguisher to put out the fire before the safety crew was there his burns weren't as bad as they could have been.
Porsche driver suffered a broken leg. Tetsuya Ota, the F355 driver, was very badly injured. He had severe burns to his face and 60% of his body, along with broken bones. He is partially paralyzed as a result of the crash...

You think this is bad? Look up the Tom Pryce crash at Kyalami in 1977, a 19 yr old fire marshall was demolished and flung to the side of the track like a used paper bag of flesh when Pryces car hit him at 170mph. The fire extuingisher he was carrying sliced of the face and part of Tom Pryces head when it collided. 2 of the strangest motorspace deaths ever, its on YouTube. The original vid may have been withdrawn due to the horrific graphic, but there are others.

Both drivers survived but the ferrari driver got burns to his face. He sued the track and won quite a lot of money i think.
