im almost finished with my degree to become an RVT. A Registered Veterinary Technician CAN give anesthesia. I have already. Its the Veterinary Assistant that cannot give it. Theres a big difference.
Im actually taking a Vet- Tech assisting program, and its only been about 5 days, and this is NOT accurate. Only Vets are allowd to give anastetic. I doubt Im going to be a vet tech though, because I don't think i would be able to handle it.
WHY isn't the technician, or DOCTOR for that matter, wearing a cap, or mask or GOWN in surgery??? WHY is the dental hygenist technician doing a dental by himself? And BTW, technicians cannot perform euthanasia without extra (proper) training. I'm sorry, but what a crock...
i am too,,,and there is nothing there about bossy office managers and vets that love to throw things...LOL hmmmmm the job out look is not good either,,,like the lady says,,,i have been a tech for over 20 yrs and the only thing good is i still like dogs,,,the pay doesnt get better once u reach the top of your clinic..
You should see my hospital! Jeez...when the times r stressful, the language that flies around the place would shame a sailor!! Lucky for me I started out as a volunteer when I was 13 so I had a good idea wat being a vet tech is all about.
my dogs got no nose

It depends on your state's practice act. here in California an RVT can legally induce anesthesia
