Wow ... I ran across this video by accident. I was in the Poly orchestra, with Mr. Osman directing, back when the orchestra shell (a gift from Marilyn Horne) was first installed - '96 or '97. What a thrill to see the program still going strong!
In any case, congratulations on a very fine performance! Keep it up!
Ohmygosh. When I clicked on this video I did not expect to see that. You are just AMAZING. Wow you are my inspiration now:) I played the first part for my chair seating test! I'm a freshman and I hope I can be as good as you. Are you a senior?
Damn good for a highschool player. Im a sophmore, I play the clarinet and the alto sax and I am working towards playing this. I play in the wind ensemble and symphonic band. Good job. =] Clarinet is a really magnificent instrument.
im playing this for an audition in a couple of weeks. i have a different arrangement..but oh well. this was truly astonishing. is this really a high school orchestra?????????
I believe technique and tone should be developed at the same time. One cannot survive without the other. But in essentials, you are correct. Most focus on technique and deprive themselves of developing their tone with long tones and slow legato music.
this is obviously a very high level of playing, and you do it well. be careful of your notes me being to "bright". not necessarily sharp or flat, just sticking out more than they should. try thinking "down" and using a rounder sound-fill the clarinet with WARM air.
your low notes sound great, thats the kind of tone you need to use in your whole range. i know its hard to play this piece, considering it was made with a basset, not a Bb clarinet in mind.
umm..that was amazing..i don't know what some of u are talking about. She's very good. I played that 2 years ago for state solo festivals and there is no way that i can play it as good as that. I don't even think that our principle clarinetist in mcyo can play that good. Yes, although her attacks are a little bit strong, her tone is very smooth and her rhythm is overall very good. Nice job!
For being in highschool you have a very nice tone!...Good for you. And an ability to play musically!!! haha...so good job! Just wait till college. I can till you will do well.
y would u say that? i mean it least give a valid reason for calling something terrible. Tessa was amazing and since i was in the orchestra i can validly say that we did not do her much justice but Tessa's performance was remarkable
Very Good!! The exposition was good. I think that there could be more dynamic contrast, like pianos more softer. Less attacks on the accents. don't clip the end of phrases. When you have a crescendo remember to start softer and then build in sound. slow down on some of the sixteenth notes so you get each note right. On the Alberti Basses, starting in measure 134 of the exposition, and again in measure 324 of the recapitulation, remember to build in sound.
Great playing.. your video reminded me of my Grade Exam in Bb Clarinet..

Nice playing, yes BassClarinetMan speed would be better, but this is already stretching for a high school student.
I played the 1st and 3rd movement my sophomore year I think, but it was with a piano, not an orchestra sadly.

Wow nice tone! You learned how to play a woodwind instrument in the right way; get the tone first and then get the technique later. :)

For some reason I like it slightly faster than that. Instead of 116 maybe 124.
