Why does everyone say that Idina is the best? A) You shouldn't rank Actors, they're all unique, and equally award worthy B) She wasn't even that vocally good, and her acting didn't make up for it.
@jessehjensen I disagree. Idina I feel is not that great. With the cast recording I sometimes have the feeling she sounds like a boy. I liked it at first, but now it annoys me. Not that I could do it any better XD
The best Elphaba for me, judging from yt vids (haven't had the opportunity to fly to london/new york and germany was too far away as well) , is Willemijn Verkaik, who was Elphaba in Stuttgart and Oberhausen and will be Elphaba in Scheveningen as well starting next fall.
I love Nicole Parker, she's amazing! I saw her in madtv was great too! I'm so sad I didn't have the chance to see her live though :( Hope she's gonna come back! :)
its amazing to hear this (her 3rd show) and then her last show. I think she's improved the most than any other Elphaba. And she was only there for a couple of months! YAY NICOLE!!!

Oh okay. (: So we still have time I guess. I might be going within the next few weeks. I'd love to meet her again. She was so sweet and I actually have something for her this time :P
i saw nicole parker in wicked. she was so awesome! i wuz just wonderin, was the really long brown hair she had during the performance a wig or her real hair?
i saw this on broadway and she was amazing in this!!! I thought i was going to start crying when she sang the last note because i was so overwhelmed by her singing!!! she's amazing!

omg i saw that she was only using mac makeup for this show........ its all they can use cus every other makeup brand sux ahahaha......... the green paint on her was all mac its called a chromecake i think ahaaha
wow, my school drama club did the wizard of oz and i was elphaba and i didn't have to get that much paint on me! lol just the face, neck, and arms/hands!
@PaparazziesDarling My point is teenage girls shouldn't feel so hot just because they played The Wicked Witch of the West in their high school production of The Wizard of Oz. Elphaba is an entity of Gregory Maguire, who wasn't even born when the original Oz novel was written. He merely added more to the story.
No my point is that Elphaba is not the same character that Frank Baum created. he created a wixked witch. Gregory Maguire, created Elphaba based on the witch (yes i am aware that they are the same but) the vision of them is diffrent. so what i was saying is that in the wizard of oz the complex humane human character Elphaba is not seen, only the Witch. becomes the witch
Does anyone know or have a good idea of what her last day will be? Also what a good day/time (of the week would be to ensure i see her and not an understudy (no offense to the understudies)
i'm SOOOOOO happy nicole got into singing/acting on broadway! for years and years i've watched her in her episodes of madtv thinking "god, she's got a great voice" i'm so happy she's on the big, broad way!
I think she did great as well. I was suprised to see she was the new Elphaba. I didnt know she could sing that well! I even got to get an autograph and a picture with her1
Yeah, I found that a bit interesting. It was acting. It seem both of them have a teary mood. Not sure how they're seeing it as teary(Especially at the begining, although, the back I guess I could see more).
i think she is good of coarse no one can compete with Idina. But every time i hear nicole sing wicked at some points of songs she sounds like she is making different voices like she does on mad tv if that makes sense...
I saw Alli as Glinda and Nicole as Elphaba a few days ago. They did a really great performance! Alli was especially good for Glinda. She was so funny.
I don't know.. Her voice is a bit on the high side, and i noticed she loses control of it in some parts. Her voice lacks a bit of strength for the role. It just doesn't convince me.
I'm not bashing her in any way, I just don't think she's able to do it as well as others have in the past.
I still see her as a being Elphaba on MAD TV and making a parody of this song.
You mean Elphaba, right? Lol. I dunno, I have to disagree. I like Marcie's Elphaba a lot, however, I do think that her Nessarose is like millions better. She is a wonderful Elphaba though, cause I think her " Defying Gravity" is fierce! But I still love Nicole to pieces! I hope she extends her contract!
Yeah, it's Nicole. But 1stMaleElphaba said that he didn't like Marcie! You said that you agreed, but you didn't think a role like G(a)linda was her type, so I still thought you were talking about Marcie, and I was like, " Wait don't you mean Elphaba?" cuz Marcie played Elphaba, not G(a)linda. You get me?
i was really scared and upset when I saw she was going to take over, and there are some details I really don't like, but her voice is much better than I thought, and she did a great job overall. What I want to know, is there anyone who has seen her live along with another Elphaba and how do they compare?
some notes she messed up on, shes sounds like she was really nervouss, altho this song is a powerful song, sometimes i think the actresses get worked up while singing it
She is far from horrible. I think your just not a fan of Broadway style singing. This is the kind of singing that fills a humungous theatre like the gershwin. Your opinion, I repsect it.....Anyway, Nicole sounds amazing here.
Not quite shaw on the 'let her go, she has nothing to do with it' but its different so good on her. I can see she has the potential to grow into the role just needs to tighten up the bit when she is 'flying' and she will be there.
lovely! A few things here and there which it seems to me she'll tune up pretty quickly. I must say, either she's done her homework or her riffs are awfully like various previous Elphabas'.
some voice trembles, pitch problems, rushing through the song especially at the end... but good riffs, strong last note, much potential once she gets used to the role.
I think it's nice to have someone new... I wish there was someone new for Wicked London... but nooooo, Kerry- Alexia - Kerry - Alexia....
I agree so much with you... I love Kerry but she does have to move on. She is getting bored with the role and I cannot blame her. Alexia is just... idk I just dont like her. She growls to much for me. I was hoping for a new face after Kerry but I guess I hoped wrong? haha
I saw the show on Sunday, and she was phenomenal. She has a great, well trained voice, and is a phenomenal actress. I'm not sure when this recording was done, but she was better than this on Sunday. No pitch problems (which drives me nuts, so I'd have caught that), and just spot on expressively. She is my second Elphaba, and far and away the better of the two. (Nothing against the first one--I thought she was great until I saw Nicole.)
yeah, i didn't think we were being hateful. what ever. i think she will get better but this wasn't a great start. i don't even know whats happening with wicked any more, the cast change way too much now. . .
Personally, I like the nerves on Nicole. It's sort of unsettling if Elphaba's character is suddenly changed into the "confident, powerful Wicked Witch of the West". It's a more gradual change than one scene. So, I think the nerves add to the excitement and not knowing what'll come next.
I think that she's good. but she sounds so nervous but I guess that's what happens when it's your 3rd show. She is a little weak at some points. She and the new Glinda will get better and better as they continue to do the show. They may not be like the orginal cast, but they will develop their own style and perfect it. I see great things in their future.
yes, I totally agree with you. This sounds like Kristy in the audio w/ Jennifer when she understudied for Idina. Shaky in places but still good. Kristy later went on to own the role in Chicago and is one of my fave Elphabas. I have confidence Nicole will blossom into the role.
Seeing her 3 weeks. Am sure she'll have settled into the role by that point. I have listened to this so many times and aside from the nerves, she is really good. For her 3rd show and her first time in the role, she is superb. Congrats to her on rockin out as the new Bway Elphaba!!
Why does everyone say that Idina is the best? A) You shouldn't rank Actors, they're all unique, and equally award worthy B) She wasn't even that vocally good, and her acting didn't make up for it.

some notes she messed up on, shes sounds like she was really nervouss, altho this song is a powerful song, sometimes i think the actresses get worked up while singing it

She sucks, I'm sorry. So nasally and just horrible. No power behind the song AT ALL.

Lol wow you have no idea what you're talking about.

She is far from horrible. I think your just not a fan of Broadway style singing. This is the kind of singing that fills a humungous theatre like the gershwin. Your opinion, I repsect it.....Anyway, Nicole sounds amazing here.

i agree she isnt the best!

she owns idina. she was unbelievable - the acting, the singing, everything.
powerranger0111 3 years ago
nicole is unbelievable, but she doesn't own idina. just have to say that, because no one owns idina. but nicole was really very good.

Not quite shaw on the 'let her go, she has nothing to do with it' but its different so good on her. I can see she has the potential to grow into the role just needs to tighten up the bit when she is 'flying' and she will be there.
ohughes01 3 years ago
lovely! A few things here and there which it seems to me she'll tune up pretty quickly. I must say, either she's done her homework or her riffs are awfully like various previous Elphabas'.
puppypersonLOTR 3 years ago
She should be fine once she gets over the nerves and gets used to the part :)

Just saw Wicked tonight and it was AMAZING. This was my favorite performance and it just left me breathless.

Her voice is amazing!
maroxytime 3 years ago
some voice trembles, pitch problems, rushing through the song especially at the end... but good riffs, strong last note, much potential once she gets used to the role.
I think it's nice to have someone new... I wish there was someone new for Wicked London... but nooooo, Kerry- Alexia - Kerry - Alexia....
daftmaulfoy 3 years ago

2:41 that guy kinda looks like Carlos from Desperate Housewives xD Please tell me I'm not the only one who sees it?! lol
Thank you so much for posting! I'm seeing her on Wednesday evening and I wanted to see what her real singing voice sounded like.

Not a very good start. I hope she gets better.

i would have to agree. well she does meet the new standards. . . .

I think it's amazing how you can get a thumbs down just for having an opinion.
wickedfan5172 3 years ago 5
yeah, i didn't think we were being hateful. what ever. i think she will get better but this wasn't a great start. i don't even know whats happening with wicked any more, the cast change way too much now. . .
charstar1989 3 years ago
She looks awesome!
snlfan89 3 years ago
She has some work to do as the role and singing but I like her a lot! She sounds really good!
rycliffmc 3 years ago
Personally, I like the nerves on Nicole. It's sort of unsettling if Elphaba's character is suddenly changed into the "confident, powerful Wicked Witch of the West". It's a more gradual change than one scene. So, I think the nerves add to the excitement and not knowing what'll come next.
TogetherUnlimited 3 years ago
I think that she's good. but she sounds so nervous but I guess that's what happens when it's your 3rd show. She is a little weak at some points. She and the new Glinda will get better and better as they continue to do the show. They may not be like the orginal cast, but they will develop their own style and perfect it. I see great things in their future.

shes very good...definetley sounds like kristy toward the beginning of her performances as elphie. altho her "im flying high" was a little weak.
rentwickedandsuch 3 years ago
yes, I totally agree with you. This sounds like Kristy in the audio w/ Jennifer when she understudied for Idina. Shaky in places but still good. Kristy later went on to own the role in Chicago and is one of my fave Elphabas. I have confidence Nicole will blossom into the role.
blulinx 3 years ago
Omg she does.
LegallyBlondeTube 3 years ago
Seeing her 3 weeks. Am sure she'll have settled into the role by that point. I have listened to this so many times and aside from the nerves, she is really good. For her 3rd show and her first time in the role, she is superb. Congrats to her on rockin out as the new Bway Elphaba!!
