your all a pack of tossers! who cares where good music comes from! Just enjoy it.... these guys were genius of their era.... born of their culture (whatever that may be) ... doesnt matter!.... its great music. Shame most venues and independant record labels are gone! and bands dont have a chance! no support! keep listening, keep exploring! experience something new
Wild times for sure - its a pity we were so slack about documenting it - almost nothing from the mid-late '70s ie punk era - "task force" era. Great to see 1988 leftovers tho'.
I have my razar single A side Task Force B side stamp out disco. I swapped it 20 yrs ago for a double Frank Zappalive albumn, and never once regretted it. But dont tell my kids........
Yeah kludo1, I agree. And didn't they make a brilliant place out of such a crap situation. The argument of if Punk began in New York or London is obsolete. It ignores Brisbane and many other cities worldwide. With band forming like the Saints, Leftovers. Razar and Young Identities, way back from the mid 1970's Brisbane must been seen as just as important as any other city. Totally brilliant origional bands. And I say this even tho I've never been to Brisbane in my Life. Brilliant stuff.
You are a tosser. Having a few shitty hipster bands does not equal "culture". Drinking port in the park in the suburbs is alot more "exiting" and "vibrant" than going to clubs trying to look cool. You go to the CBD these days and its full of wankers trying to pretend they're in Sydney.
Your joking right? Typical black skivy view of life from dreary, tired old melbourne. Rolling Stone Magazine last year placed Brisbane in the top 5 world cities for locally produced music. This hardly surprises when you look at recent successes like The Veronicas, Powderfinger, Pete Murray, Savage Garden, George etc. Frankly the Fortitude Valley live music precinct craps on anywhere else in Australia - from a great height.
Yeah Brisbane great place for music in that era and still is. Don't forget the parameters and the Riptides are from Brisbane. Way better than boring old Melbourne for music.
Excellent! My band were supposed to be in this, but since we werent, I never kept my VHS copy. The guy who made this doco (Lee something) was our sound guy at the time. Would love a better quality version if in any way possible.
great to see. missed it when aired on tv. great footage of self and friends from 77-79. unfortunately so many of those great people are now gone. seeing warren and geoffrey brought a tear to my eye and a smile to my face
Thanks for posting. I started University in Brisbane in 1983. In short, it was a police state under Joh Bielke Petersen. I remember the police special branch (who I vaguely remember are the subject of a song by Razer) crow-barring the State's only condom vending machine off the student union building lavatory at 4:00am in the morning!
I agree with Ed so very much.

BRISBANE- hot climate, cool people!
Melbourne (I am from Melbourne) and Sydney try to outdo each other when they claim to be "International Cities".
Apparently only Melbourne and Sydney have "culture'!
The Bjelke Peterson era has long gone and Brisbane is now a very vibrant and exciting place!
Hopefully Brizzy based bands can make it big without having to move south!

glad I grew up in St Kilda! Brisbane is still a little sad, lately. Can't be the sunshine, San Diego is always buzzin' bands out
