Hm...I didnt give this show enough credit it seems. From the name "Samurai Pizza Cats", my first thought of the premise was NOT that of an action-comedy show, but a show about a pizza delivery service with cats that dress like samurai.
@agedashidorf whats is really funny is that the american version was known as samurai pizza cats and they are actually ninjas... let's see, animal ninjas who like pizzas... LOL!
I can't believe that saban took out all of the cooliest themes and the good scenes from the originals japanese version. If Kyatto Ninden Teyandee was dubbed by ADV, Funimations, Or Viz Media then I would hope that theyt would keep most of the scenes and keep all the songs from the original japanese version.
amazing.. I used to watch this show wen i was young, don't remember much from it. I am now 22 and when I watched this bit. I realised how much my life was affected by this. I am now an artist and somehow my drawings and ideas had a bit of Samurai Pizza cats in them. They mustve subconciously implanted it into my mind.
I hate this "adaptation" when a anime is imported. I'm From Spain and I'm suffred this "Adaptations" for a long time. Also the lastest was the Naruto US Opening and ending (There're Awful ¡GeezzXD!).
Thank goodness theres some distributors(Sorry my awfull english) that realy ADAPT a anime only changin a little the Op and ED lyrics (Hurray for them).
yeah. US is lame with dubbing anything. they made fun of this series, and they totally ruined the DIGIMONTAMERS music with adding those from the 1st series'. original japanese voice animes rule!
When Saban brought this show over here, they did so with plans to give Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles some competition. In doing so, they also wanted to make a name that was a parody of TMNT, but "Ninja Pizza Cats" seemed too similar to Ninja Turtles. That is why they're samurais in the dub instead of ninjas.
I'm curious to see the series in it's original format, they should release a DVD box-set with both the original japanese version and the american version.
true, especially over 40 episodes worth of scripts. I think that rumour of them losin the japanese scripts is internet bullshit!
The more logical reason is that Saban just wanted to localize the show for us americans, so he just hired writers to localize it w/o getting an actual translator to tell them what is goin on. I mean, all the japanese shows Saban brought to the US, they were heavily altered to the point where they were brand new shows (MAsked rider, Power Rangers, Vr troopers, etc)
Nah, they never lost scripts, they just never got them. See, when they had the translators there, they were supposed to get a transcript of what was being said. But they had to guess, because they never gave them transcripts. So they just wrote down what they THOUGHT they said. And just made it hilarious.
No. It isn't from 26. I just checked. The background music in ep. 26 for this scene is an extended version of the main theme. This is from episode 1 (I just watched ep. 1's scene and this one, and they are the same).
It's interesting how the Japanese music and series is so much more dramatic and intense. I guess the English version was more silly because they figured no one outside of Japan could take a series like this seriously.
Well I suppose it's moot to ask if copies of the script were made. Course I have a hard time believing that they lost the script and then just decided to wing it.
I thought Saban wanted to have brand new scripts written for it w/o actually attemptin to translate it.seems more plausible for them to make news scripts just cause they want to rather than losing the original japanese ones.Saban is known to bring japanese shows to america and heavily localize em to the point in makin them new.
Besides how can someone lose the original japanese script especially with the cartoons already made;Saban could have just have the translator translate it again.

Too bad all the dubs were based on the Saban version and none on the Japanese.
I would not mind the hilarious dubs had they kept that music during the mecha transformation instead of substituting it with the SPC intro music.

lillylivers 3 years ago
That, and a lot of the jokes were based on Japanese culture and linguistics, so they probably wouldn't have been funny to English speakers anyway.
Fortunately the writers had a really good sense of humor, so the new script was very funny in it's own way.

Like with the lyrics to the Tiny Toon Adventures Theme song,
"The Scripts were Rejected! Expect the unexpected!"
YoshiAngemon 2 years ago 2
@Yoshi
It's funny you mention that, because the English OP theme actually says "As soon as someone finds the script, we might begin the show."
