@blastoise1998 : SM64 was a revolutionary game and was absolutely amazing when it came out. Now it's outdated with bad controls bad camera and repetitive stars. Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 are WAY better. Not to mentionthere are a TON of other terrific games coming out like Skyward Sword, Gears of War 3, Uncharted 3, Marvel vs Capcom 3, etc. You just sound like a salty nostalgic nerd that is biased beyond belief. I have nothing wrong with you saying Minecraft is amazing, though.

Easiest secret base: build your house, but have a "stone" floor i.e. sandstone, cobblestone, etc. Make your base under your house by breaking one of your floor blocks. Replace the block every time you enter and leave. Challenge complete.

Build your base underground, then build simple structures that give the appearance of effort and hard work in areas away from your base. Griefers will be focused on the obvious. Maybe even leave a chest or two unprotected in those buildings with "rare" items.

Planting a lot of saplings right next to each other grants you after some time a hell of a huge tree that you can use to carve inside and then make a tunnel straight down between the trunks into a secret underground base. The entrance to the tree should be something similar to your tree entrance there.

The good thing about it is that most people will feel lazy to chop that tree down, the bad thing is some people will suspect it's not natural. :D

I just make a house, put a chest, furnace, bed, door, and work table in it. Then I dig up 3 of the floorboards to make stairs. I hollow out under my house, and put my secret storage there for all of my valuables, no thievers now. :D

what we did on a public server, was find a deep cave, go through it, not put any lights up, and then at the bottom dig in a base. we couldn't leave though, that was the only downside...

Best way to make a secret base is to put it in the ground and then cover the enterance. you dig it up when you wish to enter or leave, and fill it back in.

I think having the possibility of someone griefing your base is the best part of minecraft, because it requires you too think of ways to hide your base, and you learn to never get too attached to your base. I purposefully avoid servers where you can lock doors/chests or where their are anti grief mods. Or servers where you can't have a flint and steel. Bring on the griefers, bring on the fire!
