FYI the absolute speed record is about 900 knots at sea level, set by an F-104 (rebuilt specifically for record breaking) called the "Red Baron". Most military aircraft really shouldn't go supersonic below 20,000 feet, it gobbles up the TBO of both engine and airframe. Although fully capable, Mach 2 in an F-14, F-15, F-16, and F-22 should be avoided unless absolutely necessary, because no matter the altitude, the airframe will likely be trashed and the plane will go to the boneyard.

When you are supersonic these sharp angled sonic cones replace these shockwaves which are invisible. Also there's no sonic boom. What you hear here is the explosion of the aircraft. The two pilots ejected and survived. The explosion was caused by a compressor stall.
@ManfredZaturek these are actually vapor cones due to condensation, not really anything to do with going supersonic he was going way too slowly. under the right (humid) conditions condensation clouds can occur at lower speeds as well. at great speeds however the effect is more evident

Actuly when you leave the plane verticly your traveling at the same speed as horizontaly, you slow down from that graduly depending on your drag so egecting doesnt become a problem till about mach 3 or abouve 15,000 feet when its so cold hypothermia will probs kill you on the way down.

I don't know, all I know is what I read in the report. At a guess, I'd say the explosion didn't destroy the aircraft, but blew out one of the engines. It just looks like it was destroyed due to the angle of view. After the explosion, the plane would very quickly decelerate after which they could eject. Even at high speeds, though, it may be okay. Those ejection seats are basically rocket chairs. They get you out in a *hurry*.

it would certainly be true to say that currently the US is the most powerful country,
however,
the british empire at one time covered approx half the globe, including (obviously) the american colonies, which still have a very similar political sysem and an almost identical judicial system.
The USA is still a very young country and the UK is mostly proud of it's troublesome ofspring's achievements!

It's relatively easy to look up news reports on this incident. The pilot and rio did eject safely and were recovered.

I don't know, all I know is what I read in the report. At a guess, I'd say the explosion didn't destroy the aircraft, but blew out one of the engines. It just looks like it was destroyed due to the angle of view. After the explosion, the plane would very quickly decelerate after which they could eject. Even at high speeds, though, it may be okay. Those ejection seats are basically rocket chairs. They get you out in a *hurry*.
