better the devil you know - only know the new devil comes back ie female wolf in sheeps clothing..... sad times ahead for the land of smiles... Long Live the King of Thailand but also time for a rethink re the lese majeste archaic policies.
You can ask this question. Who could easily kill this popular Thai Maj. Gen. Khattiya Sawasdipol, the leader of the Red Thais, without the authorization from the Thai Prime Minister Abhisit who wowed to protect the Thai King? The killer of the General cannot be touched and still enjoys a noble life. The killer might have been secreately rewarded for killing the General who was critacal of the King.

ehh?..he born in Massachusettes..wow Thais aren't even being ruled by a true Thai..he's a friggin citizen of the U.S.A..wow..damn that sucks for you guys..lol
@llHyRaXll well said , people in thailand seemed to avoid talking about him when i asked who is this guy some kinda big shot , then they changed the subject..
Nice, but a litle unsophisticated, it is an elete group of theextended Royal entourage that control the Military, Thailand could quite easily have gone the way of Burma had the King not performed the act of being the unifying figure head.
Will History record his period of reign as being great? I thinks its unlikely, there have been too many brutal acts and repressive laws which no genuinely democratic country would tolerate, after he has gone many truths that have been hidden will come out
@bkkbound Yeah, Thailand could have become another 'Killing Field' with the stable influence of the Thai Monarch. A Cambodian friend whose family was wiped out told me that if only Cambodia had a king like the Thais, her family would still be alive.
Giving the choice between the corrupt politicians and the Monarch, I prefer to trust the latter. I can't help feeling that there is a conspiracy to bring the Thai Monarch into disrepute and there is no question who the culprit might be.
The Thai government is a military dictatorship that hides behind the word "democracy" and Thai people's "love for King". Since 1930 there have been more military coups than the USA has had individual presidents (17 compared to13). Each time the common people gain democratic power the wealthy and “privileged” use the military to take back control. The government censors and manipulates the media in an effort to conserve there greedy power. The people are left brainwashed and divided.
Are those whores in ข้าวสาน Rd still partying now, I guess they still are! Oh well, that why they live their life as a scums. They probably are an ignorant scums and they deserve those couch potatoes who is there willing to help to increase Thai's GDP buying sex and drugs that provided by those who think they "own" Thailand.
Phuck off u ppl! Yellow shirt weren't fight for the Kingdom.. they fought for Apisit to get Thaksin in guilty. Yeah yea!! he never smile but he's still looking very respectful and kind to all Thai ppl! Red shirt ain't fighing for democracy, they fight for Thaksin. They burnt the town n kill innocent ppl..is this call fight for human rights? lol! phuck off! Those red shirt will all die soon as well as Thaksin :P
The King Bhumibol is the master mind behind all massacre-coups in the past-present in Thailand. The power of red shirts people will overthrown him pretty soon and they will cut his head of includ. his family clans and his gangmembers. Karma finds it way back to him pretty soon and this is a Thai TV-reality show.
@thaitorpedo yes your correct.. i support red shirt fight for their roght to free speech and real democracy... i know many red shirt think the king is a bastard, but of course they will go to jail nwo if they say it right... i hope what you say is true.. they capture him and his family.. then make thailand into a republic.. will be a great day in history for thai people!!!!
This filthy pig face is responsible for the deaths of farangs at Silom at the hands of his fanatical royalists supporters. Rot in deepest hell Chakri murderer! I'm glad your death is long and painful your karma has finally caught up with you.
I like the king of Thailand , i think he has worked tireless his whole life for the benefit of his people. He is also the only one holding the country together when he is gone there will be a very bloody civil war. Though you are probably mostly right about the heritage of the Thai culture.
@BiReal hehe ok everyone has the right to their own opinion. atleast you not a douchebag about it like some thais are... yes it will be interesting to see what happens when he dies.. how did you know i was right about the heritage of thai culture? just curious
@llHyRaXll Well if you study the history of Siam and for example Cambodia , in the Angkor Wat period when Cambodian culture flourish, , one might assume that a lot of the culture were stolen by Siam during the war and pillage, there is many similarity's.
A Vietnam friend of mind said; ""look, they even had to change their name to Freedom land, and develop their own writing language, as to say, - hey look at us were so special.""
Viet and Thai were helped by Khmer from the Mongol War and they don't have civilization. Viet uses Chinese culture, Latin and Arabic and Thai uses almost Khmer culture, so it is normal that Viet and Thai like to change the name because they got nothing of their own.
@BiReal Khmer people live in Thailand long before Thai still lived in China. Khmer Empire reaches its peak, Khmer built Khmer temples across SEA and created great Khmer civilization across SEA. Thai culture is exactly Khmer culture, two countries can never create exact the same culture unless one copied from another. Since Khmer already created Khmer culture in Thailand, Thai just came and copied culture from Khmer.
The word nation comes from the Latin NASCIO or national means birth, and the Latin nation designated a small extent and even served as human group from the same origin.
The modern meaning of nation combines the concept of people and government.
So Thai nation is thai people and the form of governance is democracy whose sovereignty belongs to the people (whatever the form of state: monarchy, republic)
How can we adhere to this when Sonti said that he fight for the King and he advocates 70% of appointed members and 30% elected. And when people fired at other people brandishing portraits of the king as if it's a licence to kill. All this for the king. Why?, if you dare to question either you go to jail or they tell you that you are ungrateful to the King. I lost faith in this identity and return to my old identity.
ok you are a very smart person! smarter than the average thai i should say.. yes you are thai if your borin in thailand or have siamese/tai blood.
and no you do not have to love the king or be buddhist to be thai.....wich some bitch thai girl told me you must actually do to be thai.. but she is very wrong
i think you are correct. no need to respect the king or monarchy. the king works with the military junta. so does abshit.. its obvious... and atheism is correct, buddhism is fake/unproven
It is a nationalism inspired by European fascism. (big grouping, axaltation of patriostisme)
The gove. imposed a national language ( language spoken in Bangkok) as opposed to local dialects. Pibulsonggram portraits were everywhere, while those of the former (Rama 7) were banned. But Pibulsonggram was aware of the fragility of this new nationalism (how to unite everyone to this new identity, since every identity has a long history). The answer lies in the person of the King.
Yes he is borned in America, they use him in their fight against communism by approving and funding this practice (picture in every home in the 70s).
most people act so mechanically. They do what is expected of them. Do they have choice ? some will grow the practice further. because they can not imagine it without. and others use it as a safe conduct especially in the media. (popularity, respectability)
Haha didnt know that thing about communism , i played lots of Pomposterous communist marches in thailand and didn't get caught last time i went there :D
Because the communist bloc was bold in the 80s. and the cold war is over.
Communist counries are no longer a menace but partners (except South Korea). If you play communist marches in USA you dont get caught no more. I still remember what they taught us at school on Communists (bad, cowardly ...).
royalists still maintain this idea: King protects Thailand against communist countries that surround it which are jealous of thailand
the army, the bourgeoisie and the monarchy can not tolerate the rise of popular struggles especially when communism win in laos, Vietnam,
From late 1974, they organized response by creating fascist militia, the "village scout movement" and a movement of "vigilant" that roam the countryside, asking: "do you love Thailand? Do you love your king? Do you hate the Communists?
This assassination campaign culminates with the massacre of students at Thammasat University from October 6, 1976
You mean North Korea and possibly (partly) Belarus. Many of the other countries like say nepal/cyprus still have fake socialism cause they are having capitlalist constitution no wonder they are partners .
I even think that central economy thing's kinda wrong each country would be better of manufacturing their cash at home (harder and not that easy to inflate) only the born rich can profit from that Dystopia.
The 70s will be marked by the struggles of workers, students and socialist ideas.
the working class increased by 49% from 1960 to 1970
discontent of peasants.
The student population increased from 18 000 in 1961 to 100 000 in 1972. Thai students, discover and import ideas developed in the West by the student movement of 1968. In 1973, there has been an uprising for democracy. More importantly, the thai students are able to effect a junction with the struggling workers and peasants.
it was the military who had put him in this place when Rama 7 has abdicated and no royal family members in Thailand.
Not trusting the nobles. they hunted the nobles of the king's council ( an institution of absolute monarchy) and preserved it in order to monitor him.
If initially the King is the instrument of the military now army becomes an instrument to protect the interests of the monarchy. Any government that does not work in the its interests or overshadow it will be overthrown.
you have not seen fans of the King there ? but really there are two fans
on picture three: Abhisit
on picture five : a soldier.
LOL.
Most of the photos were taken within 5 meters : People dare not stand before the king even if it is a picture (lese majeste). Look at Abhisit , he kneel.
You are not insult people and I dont think you use sarcasm.
you raised the question of insult
Dislike is the result, the issue it is not the cause
if people insult other people is most often not to say every time the person feels or is deprived of something or his rights (natural rights, civil rights).
You've only been there till grade 4 which is still consider a kid.....and how do you know that what you've heard is the truth and not rumors? and When did you start seeing these things? For the mational anthem...it's the same word wide. And to be honest i love giving respect to the national anthem. And you've said what it is....but you havent told me exactly WHY people insult him yet. I'm just here to KNOW the reason so that I can try to understand the people's behavious
How to more clear ? How to explain it again ? because all is said.
People insult other people because they feel deprive or are deprived of something or his right. when we are insulted we must to question ourselves, about our value and how this value is communicated to other.
The anwser is in the Section 8 const. and section 112 of criminal code
You just said that the law also applies in America....SO WHY ONLY BLAME IT ON THAI KING? Go complain to the united nation to let you insult Obama and SEE what they have to say about that.
no the lese majeste law does not apply in america...... if i said that i msut have miss typed...... that is ridiculous to say lese majeste is in america.... in america we have free speech and can say anyhting we like
s for the son's King i sadly have to say that i agree with you....I don't think he's that great of a person either but the things he's done was of his own action, not the King. HE things that he can do everything just because he's the King's son and the soon to be King (which many people don't agree with) but that has NOTHGIN to do with the King so I'm not here to discuss the King's son.
yes but you were defending lese majeste... and lese majeste protects the whole royal family, not jsut the king.......so you are now contradicting yourself...by the way im online now if you want to chat
With my aunt (central region), we discuss, we reported what we have lived, seen during that period lived in Thailand and during our travels. Some behavior that we disapprove. But I go further and deeper about it. because I do not have mind completely formatted.
And everything has a direct or indirect relationship with the king that he is the author or not. He has his mark in daily life
About National anthem. Article 6 of Rayal decree on National Cuture B.E. 2485 issued of the national culture Act during the tenure of field Marshal Por Pibulsonggram :
"Idividuals must pay their respect to the national anthem, the Royal Anthem ans others anthems which are played in an official service, social ceremony or entertainment venue. Violators may face a maximum of a 100 bath fine or 3 one-month jail term, or both."
Section 112 of criminal code: Whoever defames, insults or threatens the King, the Queen, the Heir-apparent or the Regent, shall be punished with imprisonment of three to fifteen years.
There is no insult without reason. Each thing naturally find their place
If there are restrictions of civil rights and Freedoms and sanctions of imprisonment, we have the right to condemn and fight.
The answer is contained in the text (as I called incitement, agent provocateur)
U're telling me that it's against human right but Thai citizens....who are HUMAN believe it...doesnt that even make any sense? And you really shouldn't call people idiots and what not...it's like me calling you retarded for believing someone who started the Thai revolution...it's not nice now is it? And I will add you on msn but please don't curse because I don't respect that
umm only yellow shirts believe it... and yes it is against human rights.. because it takes away the freedom of speech and puts you in jail for 20 years for only spekaing the truth.... if you say thai kign son is is married to a slut yoi will go to jail.. but tis true.. did u see the porn video they made? if u say he treats women liek a dog, u will go to jail
see this is agianst human rights.... IN any 1st world country lese majeste is compeltely agianst human rights
sorry but your an idiot if you say lese majeste and computer crimes act isnt agaisnt human rights...... it is... if lese majeste was in america, more than half the people would be in jail for criticzing obama.... and htats wrong.. its called free speech.... dont be so stupid
How is it not the same? please explain. And please do explain what other bad things he has done with SOLID proofs and not accusations. And Thaksin is also one of the richest people in Thailand...and people still can't believe he's bad but they can believe that the KING is bad?....isn't that a bit bias?
thai king said in his speech he welcomes criticizm...and he siad hel free people who go to prison for lese majeste.... but he lied... thats a fact.... im tired of typing long messgaes here.......if u want to debate, add me on MSN and we'll chat----- hyraxakaraxAThotmailDOTCOM
have you ever though that he signed it because A LOT of citizens wanted Thaksin OUT? because if the citizens didn't want him out then he wouldn't have sign it and then there WOULDN'T be a YELLOW SHIRT. If the majority of the people did not want it then he wouldn't have signed it. And as i mentioned before....you're POSITIVE that THE KING was the one who banded those videos and sent those people to jail and NOT the military???? Sir, the people who loves the King ALSO believes in the lese majeste
people who lvoe the king also love lese majeste yes.. and they are idiots for that.. lese majeste is compelte bullshit and is a perfect example of communist style goverment.. lese majeste is agianst human rights and agaisnt free speech...... so all thsoe yellow shirts are idiots then...
and the point is in a democracy you can not have a coup... that is agaisnt the CONSTITUTIOn.. and thai king broke that rule..
We don't mind if there are people who disagree with loving the King but why insult? Has he done anything bad? and for people who's been punished are you SURE the KING HIMSELF sent them to prison and NOT the military people???? all I'm curious to know is WHY people dislike him....and please don't say because he has too much power because PRIME MINISTERS in other countries also has the power to rule the whole country....should we get rid of them too???
ill tell you we insult the king because he is infact bad... he was part of the military coup in 2006 that ousted thaksin after he was elected prime minister... that is comletely illegal and agaisnt democracy.. some people may say the king didnt comamdn the millitart to do the coup, and the military did it itself.. but thats not true.....and anyways the king is the one who singed the papers to officially declare the new prime minster.. so he allwed it wich is wrong
"Why shall I (or someone else) insult the Principal ?" same goes to why should you/someone else insult the King?...Sure, we can all say that he bosses people around, he picks on citizens and from people to other people and in no time they will start hating the King too...just because of the rumors. There will obviously be students who dislike the principals because they got expelled/suspended, but those who's never done anything wouldn't care....which is kind of the same as the King's situation
May I ask if you dislike the King? If so, can you tell me why? and you still haven't answerd my question about your ethnicity yet sir/maam =) and exactly! If you choose to do/say certain things then you are responsible for your act....but there are adults who uses insults against the King because they hate him JUST because they THINK/ASSUME things or maybe heard rumors. I would have nothing against it IF they have proof/facts to back up their reasons...but all i hear from them are insults.
he king also supports lese majeste and computer crimes act law.. these laws are completely facisast and agaisnt human rights and free speech.. the king is also a lier... he said he welocmes criticism but and he will free anyone who goes to jail for criticzing him.. but after people crizticed him and went to jail, has hasnt freed anyone.. this proves hes a liar
I actually do not insult people =/ the worse I'd use is sarcasm...im not the type to insult people -_- " The more we are highly placed, the more we have duties and responsibilities even more than rights" with such duties and responsibilities...do they deserve to be insulted??? and it's also TOO EASY to assume it's his fault too. Yes everyone has the rights to do or say what they want...but once it turns into insults it means you have a strong dislike against that person.
When a measure affects a large number of people it enters in the public domain, anyone has the right to intervene (discussion, criticism) if it has also restrictions of civil rights and Freedoms and sanctions of imprisonment, any particular individual has the right to condemn and fight.
It is not about changing mind, your or my mind does not affect people it is about right, practices, freedom
The more we are highly placed, the more we have duties and responsibilities even more than rights. Responsibility to assume his function , his place. To accept criticism, insults and more. Only mental case, children (until a certain age) are irresponsibles.
It is too easy to say it is not his fault and to accuse someone else.
Because everything has a relationship with him, in his name that something is happened.
and I'm sorry if you think I'm starting an arguement with you and everyone but I'm not. I have NO intentions of fighting or arguing with everyone..im just a Thai girl speaking my mind and I hope that you give things MY way a try..I've imagined your way but it's just not possible for crying out loud, he can get people to do the dirty jobs in the rain if he wants but he doesn't. He doesn't need to go out but WHY does he? for his image? if it's for his image he can PAY people and take pictures sir.
I'm not naive and you didn't hurt my feelings...you're just telling me what you think and I respect that =) and it's almost like in high school mister....if you insult the principal then you are guaranteed to get suspended or even expelled....so are you saying that we shouldn't have principals either??? and have students presidents in school?...people would not respect and the whole school would be a chaos.
ok so i see that my previous did not post -_-....so I'll retype it. I'm just an 18 year's old girl who's just trying to get my feelings accross like you guys. I AM Thai and I was born in Thai....and if you are too but still dislike him then I cannot change your mind....but if you're not...then please hear me out....im NOT protecting our king because i HAVE to...i do it because I think I'm right....but then again I can't change your mind in the end...but neither can you sir/maam.
and i am not writing a lot because I don't want to make anyone angry or start an arguement....IF you were born in Thai and IS Thai then i respect your decision if you dislike him. But if you're neither one then I can't do anything because I can't change your mind and you can't change my mind either
It is about translation, term and word used in a constitutional text.
In French is : Le roi sera intronisé dans une position de culte vénéré et ne doivent pas être violés. Nul ne doit exposer le Roi à toute sorte d'accusation ou une action ;
The King will be inducted in a position of revered worship and should not be violated. No person must expose the King to any sort of accusation or action
When we talk about king we expose him. Expose of What ? expose him to a debate, a discussion (an action too). Now do you understand what does mean ? No question, no debate, no discussion, nothing. We can not say anything.
I like so much your comparison : it's true that if you INSULT the King there are consequences, but that's the same for EVERYWHERE ELSE..even for normal people like us IF you insult the King by saying "I don't like him because he's dumb" or something like that then NO DOUBT you'll be punished
And as for the money issue....the King still doesnt get involved unless it's money to create fake rain and such.....unless you have prove that he IS involved then send me the link =)
And i actually didnt define what a cult is -_- because IF he really DID treated us badly there would be A BUNCH of people against the King BEFORE the corruption happened.
no the reason a bunch of people dont say anything against the king is because of the law Lese Majeste and computer crimes act law.... with these lawas people dont even get the chance to say thye dont like the king, because if they do, then thye go to jail.. thats why
And as the law said...the King SHALL be worship...not HAVE TO BE worship. The law u're giving is the things that should be applied to NORMAL people everyday's life...if you insult ur classmate u'll obviously get into trouble -_- and i understand if people don't respect the King, but just because you don't it doesnt mean you should say bad things about him.....if you hate a friend you don't go around calling him/her a bitch and whatnot do you?
your wrong again girl... even if you dont insult the king yo go to jail go to a movie and dont stand up for the king picture, then you get jail for 18 years on lese majeste crime.. wich is crazy this is just like communist dictator.....if somone ask you on an interview on tv if u like thai king and you answer no i donjt i think hes to rich, then you will be in jail 18 years
thats i s not fair.. and no you should not be punished that is rediculous..
Let me just put this in short form then....it's true that if you INSULT the King there are consequences, but that's the same for EVERYWHERE ELSE..even for normal people like us...if someone insults you, you would of course do something about it. When you say "have a say" what do you mean? because for me I meant just saying that you dont believe in the monarchy that's all. IF you insult the King by saying "I don't like him because he's dumb" or something like that then NO DOUBT you'll be punished
1/2 NO sorry your definately wrong here.....its not the same for everyone else... in thailand the law is called lese majeste.... this goes for the whole royal fmaily.. if you talk about thai king son's porno video he made with his wife, you go to jail for 18 years......if you talk about thai kings dead brother, you go to jail for 18 years......that is not the same every where elese.. your an idiot if you think that!!!!!!!!!!!!
2/2 yes you can say anything in usa because its a real democracy.. it has freedom of speech... you know how manmy people call obama nigger??? alot of people but they dont go to jail cuz were not a fake democracy like thailand... so your wrong.. its not the same everywhere
People CAN have, choose its an incitation, an agitation. You can think and say that here. In Thailand just think dont speak, dont tell. Believe me if not ask your family. In French we called it agent provocateur
In Thailand, the question of the monarchy is very sensitive and the least little things can send you to prison
Why ? because of this
Section 8. The King shall be enthroned in a position of revered worship and shall not be violated. No person shall expose the King to any sort of accusation or action.
4/8 No person shall expose the King to any sort or accusation or action Do you understand what does mean ?
You can not say anything (they're using too much money on representing the King) what you say implies the King and there a some accusation (using too much money). Crime of lese majesté
The only thing you can say is : Long Life the King, the King do so much for the country
The Thai military and their families were urged to open their eyes and ears to identify any insulting the monarchy, according to a spokesman for the Thai Ministry of Défense Colonel Thanathip Sawangseang.
2) If some people show that they appreciate you, would YOU ask them to remove your statue which already costed money to build in the beginning? and tell the people not to appreciate you anymore?
You have just defined what the cult of personality is.
It is something self-oriented (appreciate you, would You ask them to remove)
4) And when the government put it up no one was complaining. Its truth because the first who will complain will be charged by lese majeste law. If a government dare to remove pictures It will be knocked down and will be called traitor
They respect him, because he has told from the beginning of his reign to love him, and with his so called " suffiency theory " crap. While today 2010, still 90% of nation living under poverty. Watch my channel for more information, don't be ignorant, saying " ur not even Thai "
im not "running" my mouth because i am typing. And were you born in Thailand? were you there long enough to understand how everthing works? because I was. And IF he IS a dictator, WHY would people respect him without being told?
yes he forces respect. if you dont respect the thai king or his filthy son SIA O and pornstart grand daughtes, you go to jail for 18 years on lese majeste crime. dont be ignorant
3) So like you said...it's the government. So this really has nothing to do with the King -_-
4) There's never been history of such. And the people CAN have a say in this....they CAN choose to tell the government that they're using too much money on representing the King. and IF enough people agree they WILL take it in consideration. It's not like before where they were still slaves. EVERYONE has a say as long as it doesnt turn into them INSULTING the King
1) He actually does NOT intervenes with the policital. There's a solid line where He cannot cross even if he IS the king...he CAN though....he just doesnt want to because he doesnt have the right in political situations of the country....you can research that. It's true.
2) If some people show that they appreciate you, would YOU ask them to remove your statue which already costed money to build in the beginning? and tell the people not to appreciate you anymore?
3) The people who gave money to PUT UP these statues and picture WAS the government. Exactly . It s the govn. especially military government with General Sarit Thanarat (who was a dictator) and he accepted it.
4) And when the government put it up no one was complaining. Its truth because the first who will complain will be charged by lese majeste law. If a government dare to remove pictures It will be knocked down and will be called traitor
Abhisit said on Sunday that Hun Sen's visit to Preah Vihear would help Thailand claim possession of the area surrounding the temple.
Hun Sen visited the temple on Saturday and accused Thai troops of invading Cambodia. Abhisit said later that day that Hun Sen's accusation meant the Cambodian leader accepted Thai ownership.

jianfongyaw 1 year ago
The Thai government is a military dictatorship that hides behind the word "democracy" and Thai people's "love for King". Since 1930 there have been more military coups than the USA has had individual presidents (17 compared to13). Each time the common people gain democratic power the wealthy and “privileged” use the military to take back control. The government censors and manipulates the media in an effort to conserve there greedy power. The people are left brainwashed and divided.

I like the king of Thailand , i think he has worked tireless his whole life for the benefit of his people. He is also the only one holding the country together when he is gone there will be a very bloody civil war. Though you are probably mostly right about the heritage of the Thai culture.

@BiReal hehe ok everyone has the right to their own opinion. atleast you not a douchebag about it like some thais are... yes it will be interesting to see what happens when he dies.. how did you know i was right about the heritage of thai culture? just curious
llHyRaXll 1 year ago
@llHyRaXll Well if you study the history of Siam and for example Cambodia , in the Angkor Wat period when Cambodian culture flourish, , one might assume that a lot of the culture were stolen by Siam during the war and pillage, there is many similarity's.
A Vietnam friend of mind said; ""look, they even had to change their name to Freedom land, and develop their own writing language, as to say, - hey look at us were so special.""
i still like Thailand and their king though;)

Viet and Thai were helped by Khmer from the Mongol War and they don't have civilization. Viet uses Chinese culture, Latin and Arabic and Thai uses almost Khmer culture, so it is normal that Viet and Thai like to change the name because they got nothing of their own.
AbsoluteWinner 1 year ago

So Thai nation is thai people and the form of governance is democracy whose sovereignty belongs to the people (whatever the form of state: monarchy, republic)
winphet 2 years ago
How can we adhere to this when Sonti said that he fight for the King and he advocates 70% of appointed members and 30% elected. And when people fired at other people brandishing portraits of the king as if it's a licence to kill. All this for the king. Why?, if you dare to question either you go to jail or they tell you that you are ungrateful to the King. I lost faith in this identity and return to my old identity.

The thai Nation.
The answer lies in the person of the King.
winphet 2 years ago
Hey thanx . Lets not forget that Thai king is an american and surely put there by Americans too.
But i never saw king fans there only kings face everywhere :D
Wyldstylist 2 years ago
Yes he is borned in America, they use him in their fight against communism by approving and funding this practice (picture in every home in the 70s).
most people act so mechanically. They do what is expected of them. Do they have choice ? some will grow the practice further. because they can not imagine it without. and others use it as a safe conduct especially in the media. (popularity, respectability)
winphet 2 years ago
Haha didnt know that thing about communism , i played lots of Pomposterous communist marches in thailand and didn't get caught last time i went there :D
Wyldstylist 2 years ago
Because the communist bloc was bold in the 80s. and the cold war is over.
Communist counries are no longer a menace but partners (except South Korea). If you play communist marches in USA you dont get caught no more. I still remember what they taught us at school on Communists (bad, cowardly ...).
royalists still maintain this idea: King protects Thailand against communist countries that surround it which are jealous of thailand
winphet 2 years ago
the army, the bourgeoisie and the monarchy can not tolerate the rise of popular struggles especially when communism win in laos, Vietnam,
From late 1974, they organized response by creating fascist militia, the "village scout movement" and a movement of "vigilant" that roam the countryside, asking: "do you love Thailand? Do you love your king? Do you hate the Communists?
This assassination campaign culminates with the massacre of students at Thammasat University from October 6, 1976
winphet 2 years ago
You mean North Korea and possibly (partly) Belarus. Many of the other countries like say nepal/cyprus still have fake socialism cause they are having capitlalist constitution no wonder they are partners .
I even think that central economy thing's kinda wrong each country would be better of manufacturing their cash at home (harder and not that easy to inflate) only the born rich can profit from that Dystopia.
Wyldstylist 2 years ago
The 70s will be marked by the struggles of workers, students and socialist ideas.
the working class increased by 49% from 1960 to 1970
discontent of peasants.
The student population increased from 18 000 in 1961 to 100 000 in 1972. Thai students, discover and import ideas developed in the West by the student movement of 1968. In 1973, there has been an uprising for democracy. More importantly, the thai students are able to effect a junction with the struggling workers and peasants.
winphet 2 years ago
Seach on youtube : thammasat university or massacre thammasat.
You would see military reprimand and kill civilians but also civilians attacking and killing civilians.
But who are the civilians ? Those killed and arrested are protestors : students, workers, peasants.
and those who beat, kill, burn them are militia : "village scout movement "vigilant. points out their clothes Scout.
winphet 2 years ago
it was the military who had put him in this place when Rama 7 has abdicated and no royal family members in Thailand.
Not trusting the nobles. they hunted the nobles of the king's council ( an institution of absolute monarchy) and preserved it in order to monitor him.
If initially the King is the instrument of the military now army becomes an instrument to protect the interests of the monarchy. Any government that does not work in the its interests or overshadow it will be overthrown.

to understand we must go back into the past. With the expansion of the Kingdom of Siam to the detriment of Kingdom of Lan-xang (Lanna, Isan, )
Siam became thailand in order to unit all people (central, North, North East, south).
Authorities (Plaek Pibulsonggram )have to invent a new nation
winphet 2 years ago
is the beginning of the cult of personality.
The nation is the king (the device is : Nation, Religion, Monarchy)
To be thai is :
To love King
To be Buddhist
To speak thai
This nationalism has its limits. For a very long time, siamese (40%) consider themselves as the only true Thai
glorify the nation is glorify the King.
To combat his opponents, is to accuse them of being disloyal to the king thus to the nation (red/yellow).
non Buddhists (south), non royalist feel excluded.

Bhumibol -> GET OUT, PACK YOUR BAGS
barthoedemaker 2 years ago
Why ?
To be pragmatique, in his name :
-we have to worship him, not to expose him
- if not people are sending to prison for criticizing or insulting if you want.
To be conceptual
If people insult onther people is because they are deprived of their right or something by other people.
So the question is not why you insult me but why i am insulted.
When you feel insulted, you had to question yourselves, about your value how your value is communicated to other.
i hope to be clear .

Hi foreverlilsis
I think you have 3 questions :
1) Who I am ?
2) Why do I criticize him or dislike him ?
3) Why people insult him ?
1) I have a part my family from central region and North-East region but I consider myself as Esan people (khon Esan).
like you I spent part of my childhood there and has been to school until level Poo 4.
winphet 2 years ago
2)
With my aunt (central region), we discuss, we reported what we have lived, seen during that period lived in Thailand and during our travels. Some behavior that we disapprove. But I go further and deeper about it. because I do not have mind completely formatted.
And everything has a direct or indirect relationship with the king that he is the author or not. He has his mark in daily life
-pictures everywhere
-to kneel (at school too , teachers day),
-to bend everytime

About National anthem. Article 6 of Rayal decree on National Cuture B.E. 2485 issued of the national culture Act during the tenure of field Marshal Por Pibulsonggram :
"Idividuals must pay their respect to the national anthem, the Royal Anthem ans others anthems which are played in an official service, social ceremony or entertainment venue. Violators may face a maximum of a 100 bath fine or 3 one-month jail term, or both."
winphet 2 years ago

llHyRaXll 2 years ago
-official service,

winphet 2 years ago
3) Why people insult him ?
Section 112 of criminal code: Whoever defames, insults or threatens the King, the Queen, the Heir-apparent or the Regent, shall be punished with imprisonment of three to fifteen years.
There is no insult without reason. Each thing naturally find their place
If there are restrictions of civil rights and Freedoms and sanctions of imprisonment, we have the right to condemn and fight.
The answer is contained in the text (as I called incitement, agent provocateur)
winphet 2 years ago
U're telling me that it's against human right but Thai citizens....who are HUMAN believe it...doesnt that even make any sense? And you really shouldn't call people idiots and what not...it's like me calling you retarded for believing someone who started the Thai revolution...it's not nice now is it? And I will add you on msn but please don't curse because I don't respect that
foreverlilsis 2 years ago
umm only yellow shirts believe it... and yes it is against human rights.. because it takes away the freedom of speech and puts you in jail for 20 years for only spekaing the truth.... if you say thai kign son is is married to a slut yoi will go to jail.. but tis true.. did u see the porn video they made? if u say he treats women liek a dog, u will go to jail

How is it not the same? please explain. And please do explain what other bad things he has done with SOLID proofs and not accusations. people who lvoe the king also love lese majeste yes.. and they are idiots for that.. lese majeste is compelte bullshit and is a perfect example of communist style goverment.. lese majeste is agianst human rights and agaisnt free speech...... so all thsoe yellow shirts are idiots then...
and the point is in a democracy you can not have a coup... that is agaisnt the CONSTITUTIOn.. and thai king broke that rule..
llHyRaXll 2 years ago
We don't mind if there are people who disagree with loving the King but why insult? Has he done anything bad? and for people who's been punished are you SURE the KING HIMSELF sent them to prison and NOT the military people???? all I'm curious to know is WHY people dislike him....and please don't say because he has too much power because PRIME MINISTERS in other countries also has the power to rule the whole country....should we get rid of them too???
foreverlilsis 2 years ago
ill tell you we insult the king because he is infact bad... he was part of the military coup in 2006 that ousted thaksin after he was elected prime minister... that is comletely illegal and agaisnt democracy.. some people may say the king didnt comamdn the millitart to do the coup, and the military did it itself.. but thats not true.....and anyways the king is the one who singed the papers to officially declare the new prime minster.. so he allwed it wich is wrong

When a measure affects a large number of people it enters in the public domain, anyone has the right to intervene (discussion, criticism) if it has also restrictions of civil rights and Freedoms and sanctions of imprisonment, any particular individual has the right to condemn and fight.
It is not about changing mind, your or my mind does not affect people it is about right, practices, freedom
winphet 2 years ago
it was a pleasure to discuss with you and no one is angry.
You have shown great patience, it is to your credit.
As you rightly said : we have choice an it is not about changing my or your mind
We like or dislike him, it s not a crime, it s a choice
To criticize or to praise it is freedom
Every person on earth has the duty and rights but also responsibilities (identical).
winphet 2 years ago
The more we are highly placed, the more we have duties and responsibilities even more than rights. Responsibility to assume his function , his place. To accept criticism, insults and more. Only mental case, children (until a certain age) are irresponsibles.
It is too easy to say it is not his fault and to accuse someone else.
Because everything has a relationship with him, in his name that something is happened.
winphet 2 years ago
We all assume that we do and that is happened in our name. we accept to be insulted and more.
If insult is a crime and punishable by imprisonment, there would be all the people in jail
Who did not insult someone in worse way?
There is no insult without reason. As the reasons exist, criticism, insult and more naturally find their place
winphet 2 years ago

@foreverlilsis
You have a open-minded ( dont loose it) but you are still naif and candid
It is not an insult
As open-minded
Because for you, we have a choice (to have a choice is freedom, you score 1 point)
For you Shall is not have to be so it is not an obligation and so we have choice like you said in point 4 people have choice.
winphet 2 years ago
2/7
As naif
In the case shall =must or will
It is about translation, term and word used in a constitutional text.
In French is : Le roi sera intronisé dans une position de culte vénéré et ne doivent pas être violés. Nul ne doit exposer le Roi à toute sorte d'accusation ou une action ;
winphet 2 years ago
3/7
If we translate to english is :
The King will be inducted in a position of revered worship and should not be violated. No person must expose the King to any sort of accusation or action
Must, will are replaced by shall.
winphet 2 years ago
4/7
When we talk about king we expose him. Expose of What ? expose him to a debate, a discussion (an action too). Now do you understand what does mean ? No question, no debate, no discussion, nothing. We can not say anything.
winphet 2 years ago
5/7
I like so much your comparison : it's true that if you INSULT the King there are consequences, but that's the same for EVERYWHERE ELSE..even for normal people like us IF you insult the King by saying "I don't like him because he's dumb" or something like that then NO DOUBT you'll be punished
Do you really think is the same thing ?
winphet 2 years ago
6/7
Just read the comment of the extreme royalists, they shall say
-you are paid by Thaksin or slaves of Thaksin
-you are not thai
-it is our culture
-The King does so many thing for Thailand, the great King
-or insults
They dont give details because they know that will expose him to action.
winphet 2 years ago
7/7
As candid
What you said in point 4
You can be prosecuted for two charges
Charge1 : insulting King (using so much money)
Charge 2 : incitement (people can..)
But it is not your intention. Each time you speak about him you expose him like what you said about the question of insulting.
But you said it as well because you are e free man and you have choice. Choice to speak about everything. Dont loose that.
winphet 2 years ago
And as for the money issue....the King still doesnt get involved unless it's money to create fake rain and such.....unless you have prove that he IS involved then send me the link =)
And i actually didnt define what a cult is -_- because IF he really DID treated us badly there would be A BUNCH of people against the King BEFORE the corruption happened.
foreverlilsis 2 years ago
no the reason a bunch of people dont say anything against the king is because of the law Lese Majeste and computer crimes act law.... with these lawas people dont even get the chance to say thye dont like the king, because if they do, then thye go to jail.. thats why
llHyRaXll 2 years ago
And as the law said...the King SHALL be worship...not HAVE TO BE worship. The law u're giving is the things that should be applied to NORMAL people everyday's life...if you insult ur classmate u'll obviously get into trouble -_- and i understand if people don't respect the King, but just because you don't it doesnt mean you should say bad things about him.....if you hate a friend you don't go around calling him/her a bitch and whatnot do you?

your wrong again girl... even if you dont insult the king yo go to jail go to a movie and dont stand up for the king picture, then you get jail for 18 years on lese majeste crime.. wich is crazy this is just like communist dictator.....if somone ask you on an interview on tv if u like thai king and you answer no i donjt i think hes to rich, then you will be in jail 18 years
thats i s not fair.. and no you should not be punished that is rediculous..
llHyRaXll 2 years ago
Let me just put this in short form then....it's true that if you INSULT the King there are consequences, but that's the same for EVERYWHERE ELSE..even for normal people like us...if someone insults you, you would of course do something about it. When you say "have a say" what do you mean? because for me I meant just saying that you dont believe in the monarchy that's all. IF you insult the King by saying "I don't like him because he's dumb" or something like that then NO DOUBT you'll be punished
foreverlilsis 2 years ago
1/2 NO sorry your definately wrong here.....its not the same for everyone else... in thailand the law is called lese majeste.... this goes for the whole royal fmaily.. if you talk about thai king son's porno video he made with his wife, you go to jail for 18 years......if you talk about thai kings dead brother, you go to jail for 18 years......that is not the same every where elese.. your an idiot if you think that!!!!!!!!!!!!
llHyRaXll 2 years ago
2/2 yes you can say anything in usa because its a real democracy.. it has freedom of speech... you know how manmy people call obama nigger??? alot of people but they dont go to jail cuz were not a fake democracy like thailand... so your wrong.. its not the same everywhere

(people can have a say in this)
It is an idealistic vision and mostly naive.(point 4)
Do you really think people have a say in This ?
What you have said , if you said it in Thailand to
-royalists, they could hurt you or report you to police
-a non-royalist, he will laugh at your words or to warn you of risks
-the police, it could arrest you for the crime of lese majeste or for incitement.

(Thai Constitution)
winphet 2 years ago
4/8 No person shall expose the King to any sort or accusation or action Do you understand what does mean ?
You can not say anything (they're using too much money on representing the King) what you say implies the King and there a some accusation (using too much money). Crime of lese majesté
The only thing you can say is : Long Life the King, the King do so much for the country

measure taken by the Government in September 2009
The Thai military and their families were urged to open their eyes and ears to identify any insulting the monarchy, according to a spokesman for the Thai Ministry of Défense Colonel Thanathip Sawangseang.

Point 1). he doesnt have the right in political situations of the country....you can research that. It's true.
Of course it's true otherwise it would not be a democracy
Truth in relation to democratic rules.
what about reality?
already the Constitution give him many power, even more than the Queen of England . (Did Elisabeth II have halt of his power ?)

2) If some people show that they appreciate you, would YOU ask them to remove your statue which already costed money to build in the beginning? and tell the people not to appreciate you anymore?
You have just defined what the cult of personality is.
It is something self-oriented (appreciate you, would You ask them to remove)

Winphet:
4) And when the government put it up no one was complaining. Its truth because the first who will complain will be charged by lese majeste law. If a government dare to remove pictures It will be knocked down and will be called traitor
LMAO!

And IF he IS a dictator, WHY would people respect him without being told?
foreverlilsis 2 years ago
yes he forces respect. if you dont respect the thai king or his filthy son SIA O and pornstart grand daughtes, you go to jail for 18 years on lese majeste crime. dont be ignorant

Silence is worth approval.
That I have just said certain persons would insult me of all the names (son of bitches, dog, fuck your mother).
De facto it answers your question or assertion number 4. So can we debate ; have conversation without being insulted. Can people complain ?
winphet 2 years ago
1)He's not a dictator but He intervenes in political life (sufficiency economy)
2) he never ASKED or FORCED people to put pictures of him up BUT he never asked or forced people or government to remove them
winphet 2 years ago
3) The people who gave money to PUT UP these statues and picture WAS the government. Exactly . It s the govn. especially military government with General Sarit Thanarat (who was a dictator) and he accepted it.
4) And when the government put it up no one was complaining. Its truth because the first who will complain will be charged by lese majeste law. If a government dare to remove pictures It will be knocked down and will be called traitor
winphet 2 years ago
and if it's just an assumption, I'd suggest you do research then participate in conversations that involves reasons...REAL ones
foreverlilsis 2 years ago
so please explain with REASONS (if you have any REAL ones) as to why you think that way of the King and not the one who put Thailand in corruption

This is what Abhisit is all about:
Abhisit said on Sunday that Hun Sen's visit to Preah Vihear would help Thailand claim possession of the area surrounding the temple.
Hun Sen visited the temple on Saturday and accused Thai troops of invading Cambodia. Abhisit said later that day that Hun Sen's accusation meant the Cambodian leader accepted Thai ownership.

He thinks he's GOD yeah. He forgot to mention his 3 Million sex slaves, and over 75% of the Nation living in poverty.
While Bhumibol is eating Kaviar in his royal palace, kids are dieng of hunger on the streets, or beaten to death by his Thai solder friends.
