  • This is a reminder that humans can actually look like bear/monkey animals.

  • That's Dave Lee Travis introducing the band. Dont knock him!

  • 7 people got run over by a combine harvester

  • i just want to know what inspired them to write a song about a combine harvester?

  • All the best Pirates came from Devon and Cornwall. Best seamen in the world on the toughest coastline in the world. (when they weren't smuggling and causing ships to crash on the rocks at night in the coves by lighting false signal fires in the storms!

Summerset is right next door too

  • WTF

  • Omg! Haven't they changed!! I didn't even recognise them then!!

  • i was in audience here

  • @sukes58 Really? wow

  • @MrPaddyboii, that's because its Top Of The Pops, no one plays on Top Of The Pops

  • @michaelpiper2 This was like,, 1976!

  • @Gleek1509 I know it was 1976 it says it in the video title, and as a massive fan I know it is their only number one to date.

  • lmao they sound like pirates!

  • @UnsounderGnome

That's where the pirate accent orginates from, sommerset and cornwall, oh ar!

  • @0601Michelle god! good luck to your brother/ sister lol

  • hahaha!! i remember this when i was a little girl!

  • fantastic! cant believe this was on totp!

  • @xbloodybitchx Why not? There was a seemingly endless tide of this sort of shit on TOTP over the years. Who can forget Mr Blobby and the Birdie Song?

  • One of the Wurzels is a Scot, but he lives in the west country ooohaaargh.

  • can somebody post sousaphone sam on youtube please!

  • do you know how much a brand new combine harvester costs?!

    generous guy!

  • Fkn'ell its Keith Moon!!!!!! OOOaarrrrrrrrr!!!

  • i was in the audience to this show

  • This was number one the day i was born! :)

  • i always really liked this song! fantastic!

  • This record was rubbish but it was good rubbish if you know what I mean. Stock Aitken and Watermans rubbish from the late 80s was just rubbish

  • Saw them live in Torquay a couple of years back. They gave a fantastic performance that had everyone up and singing. They must have spent an hour afterwards talking to all the crowd, my kids were thrilled to bits to say hello to the lads and get a CD signed.

  • first record i ever bought,,, yes i know how sad

  • remember this on the radio when i was a little girl

  • I was born in this year

  • What happened to these guys?

I heard after this they gave up on the music business? The last anyone heard from any of them, one was working for an ISP in the West End of London!

  • So bad it's good!

Wonder if 50Cent could do a rap version?

  • ummm no. that would be sacrilege!

  • If he does then he needs to die.

  • A legendary song............ Rofl.

  • Haha! Really cool guys!! I love it!

  • Oh God I used to LOVE this!!!

  • Is that Adje cuttler?

  • Adge Cutler died in 1974. Since this performance is dated 1976, do the math.

  • I think that's Pete Budd.

  • Top of The Pops used to host the occasional eccentric number... this is one of the choicest!

  • @ redwilky...

    Cornwall? Pa!

They're from Somerset, which is not even in Cornwall...

  • oh r u prick lol

  • obviously the bloke hosting show doesnt know the difference between a pirate and a somerset farmer ¬_¬

  • Yes I was just thinking that myself....

  • @SuicideCyclist20 the bloke is dave lee travis

  • @SuicideCyclist20 ha ha! classic remark! :-)

  • @Alwaystheshyones No. Rubbish is rubbish, no two ways about it.

  • @eggmangoogoogoojoob

I agree Dave Lee Travis is rubbish.

  • @SuicideCyclist20 Thanks to Robert Newton, pirates in films talk with a Dorset accent which is close to the Somerset accent.

  • @SuicideCyclist20 The bloke is in fact Dave Lee Travis. He used to present Radio One and smoked a pipe. That's really all you need to know.

  • @SuicideCyclist20 That's because they sound exactly the same.

  • @SuicideCyclist20

thats dave lee travis and yes i see your point

  • @SuicideCyclist20 The funniest thing is the guy introducing them actually looks like a pirate himself! lol

  • you know these guys was smokin some heavy pot xD

  • First off, I love this. Makes me happy. Also, is it just me or does the singer look like some hobbit-ancestor of Austin Powers?

  • i love this

  • LOOL epiiccccccccccccccc

  • Lmao! i love these ! no swearing !no amnosity =)))))

  • Would love to hear Nellie the Bionic Cow again. Great lyrics. Like Shakespeare, The Wurzels will stand the test of time.

  • gert bollox mr cyber, you were drunk so how would you know a good one from a bad one, and i bet you were singing along with a pint of zyder in your hand, and remember what brizzle is famous for.. massive attack, roni size, 'BANKSY' and of course..the wurzels...

  • You should hear my mates Fertilizer song. You wont find it on youtube.

  • West Country my arse, the little guy with the accordian is from bloody Scotland!

  • speaking to someone with a proper west country accent is great. the west country sounds so different too, like completely random and weird.

  • an amazing composition, such thought provoking, deep lyrics too

  • is that mr. bean?

  • Mr. Bean was a fictional character portrayed by Rowan Akinson

  • My boyfriend sings this a lot, I had never heard it before. It sounds much better here >.>

  • Hey, it's a hot day and i'm listening to this-reminding me of the hot 1976 days, aye can't beat it.

  • combine ooooooooooooorvester!

  • As if it could nt get worse lets have DLT introducing it. I did nt realise that not only was he a terrible presenter/ DJ type thing he was also a master of impressions, WANKER

  • Yeah, I'm not sure why he thinks a pirate impression is appropriate :)

  • To be fair, when most people do a "pirate accent", they're generally doing a bad West Country accent.

  • there not doing a pirate accent its a farmer accent!!

  • I think it's an accent they use in Exeter, south west country :)

  • i cant stand bristolians their voices are annoying

  • they are cornish

  • They're from Somerset, dork. There's a tribute band called The Cornish Wurzels (who I saw live and aren't half as good as the real thing).

  • They're not Bristolian, or Cornish. They're from Somerset ¬¬

  • Apart from the Jock.

  • @imightbeizzy yep sure are..... my aunt comes from somerset and even though she has been living in Australia for the past 30 years she still sounds like she got off the boat yesterday. Awesome lady awesome accent :)

  • is it me or is this a terrific song?

  • Its a parody of "I've go a brand new pair of roller-skates"

  • It's actually a cover of a Melanie (Safka) song

  • yeah its called brand new key circa 1971

  • -_-_:)_-_-
