can you buy houses in guild wars 2 in cities? i know everyone cant have their own individual house but there could be a building which anyone can buy but when you enter it is your own home and just you or your party, not a communal building.
@EuanHall123 Well it's not a building but there is an entire section of your home city which is instanced and is only accesible by you and your party. It is used to show choices you made in your personal story.

I'm going to be completely honest here. I've played WoW since late Vanilla. I've stood up for it for longer than I can remember. Everyone has said "Oh this game will beat WoW." Then that game didn't beat WoW, then they said that this other game will beat WoW, and it clearly didn't. You get the point. Now. I've told all of these people "No, WoW is still better than this, etc.." I can't say that about this game. This game truly goes above and beyond WoW. I still play WoW, but this WILL beat it.

@Perdristan 8 dungeons seems like a small NR tbh,it will get repetitive but hopfully the game will have enough dynamic events to keep people entertained.
@avengedguy You do all dungeons through story mode once. After completing storymode, repeatable/adventure mode unlocks and you will have 3 different paths you can chose to take with some mini-events inside to even change what happens in the path you took.
8 storymode + (3 x 8) adventure mode = 32 effective dungeons according to ArenaNet, which is pretty good for a released game and allows noobs to play dungeons too in story mode.
Open beta in March has been announced yesterday btw.
@Regtstreekzz They should remove all of the teleports and replace them with flight paths no questions asked. I don't think it's cool to be able to teleport to each city at the start just to play with your friends. I remember exploring in WoW, I was absolutely stunned when I discovered Ironforge as a Nightelf in the beginning days of WoW.
So atleast I really hope they replace the teleports with flight paths or some sort of deep run tram like the one from Stormwind to Ironforge.

@TheFlyingElephanter Every race can go whereever they want to. There's no Horde Vs. Alliance thing going on in GW2. All races have united to defeat the Elder Dragons.
It just entered closed beta like last week, and depending on how that goes the developers will decide the date, imo probably sometime later 2012. They still wont say until they feel its perfect. You could go look at some boards tho, they probably have some better predictions when

@costelking Umm why would it? This game is made to be fun to play, and spending 15 minutes to run from point A to point B isn't fun at all. It will make it easier to go to different places and meet your friends.
I just really want to know for sure, is it freee aim when you attack or do you just target enemy and your character does everything. after watching this it looks a lot like free aim and you press a button to attack but im not 100%. obviously with bow it aims for you but that doesnt mean that your not pressing the attack button. thanks.
@thecianrules In this game, most skills have to be aimed to actually hit the target such as a Ranger's bow attacks, which by the way isn't done by auto-attack as Gw2 doesn't allow for that to happen.

@smalltown2929 In case you haven't noticed, the Engineer has a lot of mechanics that basically makes it a reincarnation of the Ritualist and a mix of other classes.
And btw ArenaNet recently announced they'll be going into closed beta soon, which will decide when open beta happens, and in turn that will help them to decide when they'll release the game.
@jugganaughtable Only problem is that Gamestop as well as all retail stores are known to give guess dates to convince people to pre-order a game from them. And this isn't the first time they've had some release date up their sleeves. They've always made up some date for Gw2 in past years and always try every trick in the book to convince you its true even after a previous fail.

People who think this is like WoW have something wrong with them. Yes its an mmo but it different in a ton of different ways. Plus if you say this wont even be close to as good as WoW then you can leave because this is A much different style of game so maybe some people want something different

This was the first gameplay video I've ever seen for GW2 a year ago. This was the exact video that got me interested in this game. After seeing the combat, how could I refuse?
I don't know about the end of 2011 release date because the beta might go on for a while. I mean they gotta be doing alpha by now right. And if alpha goes good then it might go into beta faster. I hope it comes out before 2012, that would be great.
That would be awesome, but its a big game and there are somethings that may need to be changed. They just basically announced it, so it possibly will come out mid 2012.
@alibuu Alpha is the stage before the beta, like when they do a closed beta the creators of the game is testing it on the Alpha to fine tune it for the beta, and ofc the beta is to fine tune the game before the release :)

@timmer7000 I have a picture of the poster from one of the game conferences which lists the system specs for the demo computers.. PM me if you want to see the original pic. Specs: I7-920 2.66ghz, 6gb RAM, GeForce GTX 295, 21.5" 1080p monitor. I have also read that at other conferences some demo comps had I5s. ArenaNet says that you won't need a gaming rig to run GW2, and I'm sure the demo rigs were overkill.. They were running it in HD and at max graphics to show the game in all its epicness.

@theseakker not unless you are interested in the lore, which you can also learn by reading the novels... guild wars 1 was great in its time (mostly because of the PVP and BGs which WoW lacked at the time), but it's not comparable to GW2, so i wouldn't suggest buying the original game in hopes of playing something similar to this one..

It's not like I never played an MMORPG before, but what do you think of the company behind guild wars? In my previous MMO, the company started great first 2 years then the game was completely ruined for the next 3 years =[ Like do they fix stuff that aren't broken? Is questing dull? What flaws are in the game?

The flaws of GW2? Not sure because it hasn't been released yet. I think ArenaNet is a great company. They aren't money-hungry like Blizzard, and the game will be free to play but with lots of expansions like GW1. Although GW1 was ftp, I saw that ArenaNet did good maintenance, fixed any bugs and had constant patches, and it was their first game. They are doing a lot of innovation with GW2, which is what most companies lack because they know that the traditional MMO design is what sells.
@stonedinosaur As I said, the game will be free to play (but as you can see in the video, with a very high production quality), so I suggest buying it to at least try it out.. You buy the account and can play forever, but there will be lots of expansions later on. I think ArenaNet made an expansion each year for GW1 until they began working on GW2. Also leveling will not be a huge grind; ArenaNet claims that the leveling curve is even all the way to max level.
forget the detail...can you finally jump in this game? has in more fluent movement without the floor locking you from falling off a cliff and blah blah blah?
@theflyingdutchmanxD yes I just want to be more realistic like the other games, i'm not asking for top of the line graphics, just better moving and the freedom of jumping and moving wherever you like without the stupid stuck in place area's like GW1 :)
@StuartTheGamerNerd Notice that the ranger is standing on a rooftop. Unlike GW1, GW2 has a Z-axis, so players can jump, swim, dive, fall, etc... Also it's a fully persistent world, not instanced like GW1; however the dungeons and player district of the cities will be instanced.

@FellipeEugenioO think about it : you want realism , they would need to then make 20 arrows really 20 arrows in the quiver and then when they get to 10 they would need to show 10 , its a lot more complicated and unnecesarry , this is a game not real life combat simulator

@FellipeEugenioO I don't think a quiver would change anything, really. :)
Because it's a fantasy game, one could think that every profession has some magic abilities (arrows, engineer barrels, etc).
Cabal Online had a similar mechanic, where archers were more specialized magic users, channeling wizard abilities in a bow & arrow fashion.
Anyway, adding a quiver for realism would mean adding an infinity bag to the engineer, not possible.
Just go with it, the game will rock anyway. :)

You know what they say jack of all traits a master of none. Either your a master range person with mediocre close combat or your mediocre at both. I do agree about the minimum shot distance though. That's never made sense.

I don't know about the end of 2011 release date because the beta might go on for a while. I mean they gotta be doing alpha by now right. And if alpha goes good then it might go into beta faster. I hope it comes out before 2012, that would be great.

@alibuu Alpha is the stage before the beta, like when they do a closed beta the creators of the game is testing it on the Alpha to fine tune it for the beta, and ofc the beta is to fine tune the game before the release :)

@timmer7000 I have a picture of the poster from one of the game conferences which lists the system specs for the demo computers.. PM me if you want to see the original pic. Specs: I7-920 2.66ghz, 6gb RAM, GeForce GTX 295, 21.5" 1080p monitor. I have also read that at other conferences some demo comps had I5s. ArenaNet says that you won't need a gaming rig to run GW2, and I'm sure the demo rigs were overkill.. They were running it in HD and at max graphics to show the game in all its epicness.

@theseakker not unless you are interested in the lore, which you can also learn by reading the novels... guild wars 1 was great in its time (mostly because of the PVP and BGs which WoW lacked at the time), but it's not comparable to GW2, so i wouldn't suggest buying the original game in hopes of playing something similar to this one..

It's not like I never played an MMORPG before, but what do you think of the company behind guild wars? In my previous MMO, the company started great first 2 years then the game was completely ruined for the next 3 years =[ Like do they fix stuff that aren't broken? Is questing dull? What flaws are in the game?
Sorry I am asking a lot, but I don't wanna invest in another broken MMO =[

The flaws of GW2? Not sure because it hasn't been released yet. I think ArenaNet is a great company. They aren't money-hungry like Blizzard, and the game will be free to play but with lots of expansions like GW1. Although GW1 was ftp, I saw that ArenaNet did good maintenance, fixed any bugs and had constant patches, and it was their first game. They are doing a lot of innovation with GW2, which is what most companies lack because they know that the traditional MMO design is what sells.

@stonedinosaur As I said, the game will be free to play (but as you can see in the video, with a very high production quality), so I suggest buying it to at least try it out.. You buy the account and can play forever, but there will be lots of expansions later on. I think ArenaNet made an expansion each year for GW1 until they began working on GW2. Also leveling will not be a huge grind; ArenaNet claims that the leveling curve is even all the way to max level.

@StuartTheGamerNerd Notice that the ranger is standing on a rooftop. Unlike GW1, GW2 has a Z-axis, so players can jump, swim, dive, fall, etc... Also it's a fully persistent world, not instanced like GW1; however the dungeons and player district of the cities will be instanced.
