my problem is insecurity, how do i know if im good enough, what if i put up somethin and people jus make fun of it. i love djing, but i dont wnt my hobby and love for music to be crushed.

Before YouTube videos, upload your mixes to file sharing sites like Mediafire, Sound Cloud etc.. Post them all over Facebook&YouTube. Link&tracklist to one of my mixes is on my YouTube Profile
hi... I just want to leave a little advise and hope it helps. I've been DJ'ing for 8 months now, but I've played drums for 10 yrs and had my share of backyard/ garage and club shows. Like they said, there are gonna be "haters" everywhere. Like everyone else, I get frightened and distracted but as long as I see even 1 person digging wat I do that's good enough for me. It takes more guts to go up in front of a lot of people than to heckle.
Great video. Really informative. Bedroom DJ's why not check out PhatBeats? We have a Home Studio where you can be in your bedroom anywhere in the world and broadcast on PhatBeats. How cool is that??!!
im not saying that a video mix is as good as seeing the guy playing live at all.i think you misunderstod. Let me put it this way. Who would you invite down to your club early befire opening? a dude you heard mix on a cd or a dude you have seen mixing on a video?
and ofcourse they hire for talent. Maybe not unknown talents but yet again the small clubs does.

Why would you rather hear a good 90min mix than you would hear some numpty do a 10min video? What if the so called numpty was good? As a club owner i would rather see the person actully doing the mix on a video, then just hearing a Demo cd. Then you allready have a good idea about the guy you are thinking of hireing. And you can also imagine the guy mixing in your club or whatever it is. What he is trying to say is that youtube is a good possible to get seen

But here, they will upload their mix and maybe it goes nowhere, but they still get those comments they won't get mixing for their friends. If you need an example. Celldweller is making music and hates to play live shows. He has been making money by getting his songs in movies. If you want a link to show you I will provide it.
that is so true about some club dj's mixing stills can be poor I went out the other night to a really big club and the mixing was all over the place if I was the manager I would not be very happy half way through a stomping track the dj just wacked the volume right down for about 30 seconds because someone said the music was too loud that has to be a big no no
