dont start being a twat until you know what you are talking about ! for a start you have one in front of your fucking eyes !!!
you must be american?
why dont you learn about things before you open your mouth because if you did you would know that european mk 1 mk 2 and mk 3 8v golfs were all counterflow but american ones had the crossflow
@VolkswagOwned yes they are but before you go around calling people noobs you must realise that there is a world outside of america and that some things are different there, this time being that our mk3 golfs did not have the 2ltr 8v cross flow
@wippy748s lolol okay man. I thought it was a conversion when I saw the vid. I thought "Why the hell would someone do that?" While also thinking "Why the fuck not?" lol nice car man
@wippy748s So much shit-talk going on on youtube you wish you could hide the comments and make them never return / Cincerely, "noob" mk3 gti 8v engine with counterflow head owner.
@wippy748s here in the united states, the mk3s got a counterflow 8v (eng code ABA) but europe had a counterflow. we also didnt get the 16v in a mk3. we only had the 2.0 8v (ABA), TDI, and VR6 to pick from.
hi nice job on those, thinking of doing a bike carb swap to my 8v gti mk2, which carbs would you reckomend and can you use the fuel pump from the bike or should i use the one i have ??, also where did you get the manifold to fit them bog bros ?
Hei! im coming from germany and i would like to kow if the Carbs are "stock" or if you have changed anything in or at the carbs. I would like to put R1 carbs on my 1,3l HH engine with an 296° cam.
alright mate, i was wonderin how u made ur manifold for the bike carbs. i've got zx9r carbs which i want to fit but cant find 1 or any information on the subject. any help would be appreciated
no there is nothing on forums about it, to be honest i dont put anything on them because you just get lots of people saying you cant do things and that it wont work who actually know nothing, its really not that hard to do mate, i have written some info about it below on the comments but i will answer any questions when i get a chance
there is no reason why you cant do this to your car , infact im guessing yours is a 16v model in which case it would be awsome, the biggest problem will be getting a manifold made as im sure the carb inlet spacing will be different to a manifold for twin webbers or delortos but there will be someone out there who will make you one and you will save a lot of money buying bike carbs (which are better anyway) than webbers and definatly throttle bodies
hi nice work i have also got a mk3 golf would love to do somthing similar how dose the car drive did you have to change/modify the ecu? is there much of a performance gain?
if your car was is injection at the moment you may also be lucky in the fact that the rev limit on the gti is actually controlled by cutting the injectors , because of this when you use carbs it also removes the rev limit which is great if you are also using a performance cam, good luck with your project
I used Yam R6 carbs they are very close to webber or delorto 40's the throat measures 38mm where as webbers are quite a bit smaller depending what choke is installed, they will work very well on a 1.8 but obviously the jets will need changing. I actually made the manifold myself it didnt take too long but if i made another then i would make it at more of an angle so the carbs were pointing up more to give more room between the exhaust manifold and the bottom of the carbs

Exist Golf GTI 2.0 8v counterflow!, in europe are many of these, for example engine code 2E. In america only sales gti/Glx aba engines (crossflow).

@jeffs789 all the mk3 2.0 8v's in Europe are counterflow, on some cabrios there are crossflow 2.0's used. Also 16v is crossflow.

@TheEvilyeti thats interesting i would think they would use x-flow head because i believe it flows bettter IIRC
