This era is my favourite era of Wilco. Jay was out (nothing personal against him), the band wasn't really sure where to go next, they weren't as comfortable as they are now, and they made the most haunting and beautiful album of their career (AGIB).

@johnthebaptist93 Hey now, Tweedy's guitar work in Ghost is Born can absolutely compare to anything Nels or Jay has ever done. Some may even go as far as to say it's better... (me)
I liked Leroy Bach on keys and stuff. Maybe this band right here and add in Nels would have been good. They sound good now, but it seems like there's ten guys in the band.
Jeff is better than most front men, in all honesty, and Leroy was an awesome utility guy, got to admit.
Nels is the pinnacle of jazz expression with Rockin' application, and the only person I've seen live that not only nail recorded solos, but find a way to exceed the perfect recordings.
@johnthebaptist93 This is a stupid comment. First, they don't pretend to be, which is why they are not 'lead' guitarists. Second, Jeff "Jweedy" is a pretty damn good guitarist in his own right. Third, Cline would blow Bennett out of the water on guitar.... that guy is crazy good (no disrespect to the late Jay Bennett).
@johnthebaptist93 Tweedy is a singer/songwriter, and still a damn good guitarist i.e. A Ghost is Born, secondly, Leroy is an Utility guy, he plays multiple instruments, so one could argue his talent is just as important, just not instrument specific, but Nels Cline trumps anything Jay Bennett ever thought about doing, may he rest in peace though, as he was a wonderful musician as well....that is all..
Much agreed, my friend keeps talking about this band and I kinda judged them on their name thinking they'd be like one of those bullshit pretentious goffy fucking wanker indie rock acts like regina spektor or something. I was proved quite wrong, great rock n roll songs!
Just had to say quickly that it seems a bit unfair to make a blanket statement about Wilco being overrated simply based on this song--I am not the hugest fan of theirs but would say that they have progressed a fair piece since Being There (and I would never call a band that claims Nels Cline as a member overrated)
Come on everyone! Wilco is a fine group, and if you don't think their stuff is as bitchin' as their fans do, what are you spending time disagreeing for? You aren't gonna change a Wilco fan's mind, or a Britney Spears fan or a Korn fan lol.
And also, this song RAWKS ha.

This band is so overrated it is almost beyond words. I know the history of this cat. I've seen UT, I've seen Husker Du, I've been around the block. These guys have pulled the wool over the world's eyes. Kudos to them!
Hey WilcoDad, just because I don't share your opinion, that does not make me a 'moron'. How very, very ignorant and unimpressive of you. Bummer to have to deal with it. And, my point stands: Wilco ARE severely overrated in my opinion (as are Radiohead).

I'm getting odl enough that I respect if someone's trying to do something their way, and I may just not like it. That's the way I feel about Wilco. I have a LOT of respect for these guys. They're doing their thing and putting their heart into it. The music's too mellow, radio play music for my tastes. I give 'em credit though. I draw the exact comparison to Bruce Springsteen. Puts his heart into it, but the music is much too radio-ish for me.
