Yes, this smokes both CD versions of these tunes... Absolutely. I'm not a huge Joss Stone fan, but here, with this band, she's got that kick up the arse and an imperative to perform that she likely doesn't have when doing her own thing. As Jeff said, when asked about his singer-less band and commenting that he wasn't totally comfortable being out front himself: 'Give me a good singer and I'll make them sound great.' In some cases, that means doing nothing much at all... which he also does well.
I've played this song "There no other me" numerous times a day" Jeff Beck reached back into the Yardbirds era with a touch of far east India in his solo at the end of the song. Wish he would have stretched out a little more on the CD version. No matter It's still a great track!
Hooking up with Jeff Beck is probably the best thing that could have happened to Joss Stone. She actually gets a chance to sing instead of doing fluff material.
@rodentcafeteria I thought the best thing was hooking up with James Brown. She does get around. That's what happens when you enjoy singing and really can.
So Tantalizing to the Soul. Then when you think it can not get any sweeter, 5:23 comes forth. Fantabulous~~~~~~~~ Jeff makes that guitar say all those feelings that you want to say, but cannot find the words in this English Language to express, without sounding like a love-sick-fool. Jeff you are the most magnificent voice-of-loves-vibrations. <3
I'm cruising through the different versions they did of this song, this one is very nice as are all the rest. I think my favorite one though is the American Idol version backed by the Jubilation choir, the most refined version so far, still these others are entertaining. I put this version in my favorites.
@RemoVegas If you haven't seen the live show from Ronnie Scotts, then you really must buy it (amazon has it). It's one of the best shows ever, and it has Joss Stone doing People Get Ready and a super-sweet version of Blanket sung by Imogene Heap. Eric Clapton comes out at the end, too. Great show.
I've seen Jeff countless times recently but I was at this gig and this might have been the best ever. Joss Stone was amazing and a real treat. They work well together. Cant wait for the new album.
Tal quit to pursue her own career. Her reasons are listed on her My Space page. So get over it and support her in her endeavors. This is about Jeff Beck, not his hired sidepersons.
