wow! interesting... i have this program from when i used to use a PC, but i now have logic pro in a mac and was told i don't really need this. any opinions on that?
well, comparing these programs on average, you're correct. but that doesn't imply that you shouldn't use reason anymore. it;s like comparing biking to rollerskating, it's more limited, and that can be great because you make different dicisions. logic pro is really a huge programm with dozens and dozens of (sub-)menus and reason is pretty basic and not really suitable for high def mixing, but i like the concept of sampling your tracks (as .rex) and it doesn't kill your cpu as logic could do.
logic is a complete system so on average you're correct, but more options doesn't necessarily mean better. it also depends on your needs, if you're really into the midi stuff, reason is great. if you go all the way hardcore multitracking audio you should go for pro tools. different programs, different decisions, like the difference between a telecaster or a les paul.
Personally, it works for me to use Logic as an audio sequencer/arranger rather than my main composition tool.
I write and perform most of my software instrument parts in Reason, then export them and make them Apple Loops and drop them into Logic for editing, arranging and mixing.
Reason has some super powerful sound synthesis tools and Logic is a fully functional DAW with one of the most awesome samplers I've ever used (EXS24)...Used together, they are hard to beat....
You should always have reason around. The minute you limit yourself to just that one program you will have eliminated yourself from a very competitive edge.
Reason is actually good if you want to gain general knowledge of how all the different outboard units and effects works. It's an inexpensive way of setting up a studio for music compositions
you cant compare cubase to a program like reason or fruity loops. they are two different complete type programs. i will say that reason is better than fruity loops in my 8 years experience of producing
cats is jealous man. FL STUDIO ROCKS. it has everything that u eva dreamed.plus 9th wonder n other cats use it. if u know how to sample ,filter,transform,...its enough.just know how to use other lil sound edit issh before u put issh in FL.FL has tons of options and its A professional soft for producers.must b kidding me.LEaRN how to use it then talk about it,i bet none of ppl in here wouldnt ever use more than 15 % of its options and feats.
For me, Reason is the best program, however, it is whatever the producer is comfortable with. FL Studio is good for starting out and getting used to basic production. But it's all the user's choice
Personally, I am a fan of Reason; however, it is all about the producer and what he/she is comfortable with. I think FL Studio is a good starting point that will get you used to producing. Even still, it's all about the producer.
what do you think about ableton live, cause ive used fruity loops and then someone recomended me ableton live...and now i want to see how reason is.thanks
hy !!!! everybodyy know how can i record all i can do in REDRUM , to an simply trackk!!! i mean while i mixing and making beats in REDRUM i what same time to record alll this to a trackk !!! pls help mee !!!!
hy everybodyy !!!! pls help me haw can record or write a song in REASON 3.0 pls help me !!!! i knew it s a stupid question but i don t find a record button or ..........
Stupid discussion. If you don´t know reason go home. Cubase is an audio workstation, reason is a rack or sound/sequence producer. cubase is / could be the hosting environment.
Reason, by itself is a powerful tool, but remember, a program can never be lame. It's the producer who uses it that either is or isn't good, period. At the end of the day, your program could cost you thousands, but when you press record, you either got it or you don't. So it's not about the product; it's about the producer...
daw is for digital audio workstation... and reason ain´t lame if you just want to produce... its very intuitive and handsome
and got a range of possibilities... peops just talkin bad about it, but couldn´t judge by ear if a track is produced with reason or whatever... it´s all image... if you want a full studio-application for producing recording, audio-editing etc. you should use cubase or pro-tools...
You have to know what you're doing w/ Reason. It is very powerfull if you dig into the details. You can take Reason on stage -- Fruity Loops isn't for live performances.

I am sorry to say but that's abit to much percussion for my taste when it comes to hardcore hiphop.
But for R&B this will do.

Reason isn't a DAW. It's software.
shapedy 4 years ago
it ain´t a daw... it´s a producing software that is based on midi-events... not made for recording, mixing or mastering... just for production...
but you can use it as a slave in cubase which is very useful, when it comes to arrangin tracks...
