I dont think so. I have a Macbook Pro and when it starts up, it has a different noise. But other than that I would think that it wouldnt be a problem unless you cannot use the disk drive (bad super drive).
Thats normal. When you start it up, its just the mac checking if there is a disc inserted and when you put the disc in, its loading it, when you eject, its unloading and pushing it out.
