Note to sellers: Go with your gut instinct. If you sense the buyer is trouble just cancel his bid and block him. Sometimes just by the way they ask questions you can tell they are bad news. Also make BUY IT NOW listings but make sure to select immediate payment required. This will eliminate some bad buyers. Also set your preferences to block buyers who have unpaid strikes/no paypal account etc... This reduces the scammers I find. NEVER SHIP TO AFRICA EITHER
Anybody else think that ebay is behind most of the non-payment on items sold? Ebay is the only one with something to gain when this happens. I find it hard to believe that there are that many people out there who bid on items with no intention of paying and no communication.
Regarding your dispute on your item sold, bottomline, list only quality items. But I understand listing an item not usable, did you select the condition as: "For Parts or Not Working". If you had that selected, with no returns accepted, then he had a binding contract and I would never, ever issue a refund. Technically eBay should rule in your favor on that. But I don't trust ebay managament or their rules or regulations regarding sellers. It's a fine line we walk.
did your last story and one before it, was it all solved now or still going? when are you be back on yt on ebay updates, i've not heard from you along time.
Keep vigilant! With the amount of experience you've got you can pretty much smell the deadbeats. I was only really surprised once last season by a seller selling a broken item she represented as working fine. Wish I had your spidey sense!
Hope it turns out o.k for you. There is always some crazy jerk out there who pulls these king of things.. And we cant even leave them negative feedback to show other sellers "Beware" this buyer sucks. What a lame rule e-bay has made with the "No Negs" for buyers B.S . Good luck:)
I'm not a huge seller by any means, but here's what I do when I'm ready to ship an item. I actually videotape myself wrapping and packaging the item (always a baseball card, autograph card, etc). I closely show everything on video including the address I write on the shipping label. Someone here wrote that if they get a return there's a chance it could be a empty box. Video tape yourself opening the return.
I hear horror stories like yours and all the time which is why I'll never sell on ebay unless it returns to the way it was ( but we know that will never happen ). The day ebay went to " neg. seller only " was it for me. I haven't sold on ebay since. I only buy and I'm a good buyer! I pay quickly and I leave everyone feedback as soon as my item arrives. Btw Joe, was there a woman walking by outside your window? ( lol ) When you couldn't remember your 2nd point I laughed. She must have been hot!
Iv'e gotten scammed on paypal from a guy from maryland for a chargeback for not recieving the item. i sold an amplifier on ebay for 500 bucks and shipped it to him, with delivery conf. but no signiture confirmation, yes i know i was new. but anyway even though it showed up as delvered he said he never recieved the item, and long story short, he got the 500 bucks back. BTW crazeenydriver what is your ebay ID i would love to see your items. you can comment or private message me. Mine is Wissman38
well i cant believe it but for the first time i became a victim on ebay tried selling my car on there some dude bids auction ends contact the buyer and no response finally i get his number and the dude had the nerve to want to get it cheaper than what it sold for now im in a big unpaid item case against him cause he refuses to pay saying he made a mistake and ebay wants to charge me 130 bucks for selling it what a total ripoff ebay is
Joe tell us some stories ya know how the buyer doesn't pay then immediately after you file unpaid item they pretend how oh I did not think I won it. Then go on to say I was planning on doing big business in the future.
Also Joe watch out for when they send it back they might try to smash it so you have hard time selling or returning to store.
I twice had people buy new video game then send it back smashed the worst 1 opened it send it back with a blank disc then left feedback ripoff
I wouldn't put it past either of them to have some internal ass kissing department that's sole purpose is to make life as difficult as possible for courageous people such as yourself who dare to voice their opinion.
I realize that would be illegal but such concerns rarely stop multinational juggernauts from doing as they please.
If a seller describes a DVD 'as new', and it arrives with broken pieces because of being crushed in the post, but it arrived in a decent bubble wrapped envelope...what should the seller do to resolve it? Is it fair that the seller asks you to return it at your expense and be without the item you waited patiently for and bought in good faith that it would arrive as described? Or should the seller send out replacement parts or give a partial refund?
.. (cont).. Is it really unreasonable for the buyer to ask the seller for a partial refund if such a thing happens? Seeing as it would greatly inconvenience the buyer to have to send the item back and potentially be without the return P&P. Especially since the buyer has to pay for a recorded delivery service to ensure the seller doesn't pull any stunts at the other end and claim he hadn't got it back, bumping up the return P&P cost. What do YOU think?
.. (cont2).. Is the seller really being 'reasonable' and 'fair' to the buyer to expect him to return the damaged item so that he can put a damaged item claim in with the post office?
@emuholic hi. ok this is a good question. I try to always ship with UPS in case of damage, they will cover it. This has only happened 2 times in 11 years and they made good both times. however the USPS is terrible and I myself have replaced several orders for customers at no charge. As I stated, I only use USPS for cheap items under $25 so I do not mind eating one once in a while
i didnt think i would enjoy a channel that takes mainly about ebay. But im totally loving them dude. Thanks for posting

@myvoiceimpressions I have not sold on ebay in like three years.
I buy, but it is too risky to sell with that buyer protection (= seller gets screwed).

I'm looking for an answer to this situation:
If a seller describes a DVD 'as new', and it arrives with broken pieces because of being crushed in the post, but it arrived in a decent bubble wrapped envelope...what should the seller do to resolve it? Is it fair that the seller asks you to return it at your expense and be without the item you waited patiently for and bought in good faith that it would arrive as described?
