I saw Obama the Sunday before the election in Columbus, Ohio. I was 10 rows back right in front of the podium. The crowds were passionate. Shouting YES WE CAN!
Watching Him win Ohio was beautiful. I was so thrilled and happy! I knew it was over then. I was lookin at Virginia. thinking why did he jumped to 195? then when I saw that my state was blue on the CNN map i was going nuts. I was looking out for 13 votes and saw he got 20. WOW!
jmd8pb, so did I. Especially since MSNBC called Pennsylvania RIGHT AT 8 (the closing time). That NEVER happens until the Democratic candidate is kicking butt.
It wasn't necessarily over, it was one of those states that if McCain won, it would look good for him throughout. If he lost, it would've been tough but Penn was supposed to be a state to go Democrat anyways. Ohio was what broke McCain's chances.
Strong America, 63 million people have NOT been fooled - they're eyes are wide open. The mess your country is in right now, guess what?? wasn't Obama who done it.
i remember when Ohio went to Obama turning to my brother and saying "thats it. Its over. the man on the left of the screen is your next President of the United States" :)
I flipped over to FOX News just to watch the look on Brit Hume's face when Obama was announced the winner in Ohio.
The race was over; the republicans at the FOXNews studios knew it. It was like a funeral; you could almost hear people crying overe the sound of crickets chirping. It was THAT quiet. It was as if a suicide watch was in effect. I'm surprised S. Hannity is still alive.
Utter hopelessness on the faces of the anchors...dispair. Now they know how I felt in 2000 and 2004.
Exactly. After Pennsylvania you knew McCain had a steep uphill climb..but you always knew that if Obama were to win either Ohio or Florida in addition to this it would be all over.

My step-father has his own business down in Florida and has already figured out that he'll have to lay off 12 people to cope with the extra costs of the Obama socialist/reparations/welfare taxes; they all do a good job and couldn't determine who to lay off, so he went to the parking lot, saw the worker cars and decided to fire those with an "Obama" sticker on the bumper.
Only serves them well! They voted for the socialist in office? They pay the fucking economic consequences! It's only justice.
Well, when you consider many of the most sick, lazy, shameless, perverted and corrupt people I've had the disgrace of meeting and hearing about preferred him over any other candidate, in a way it's not surprising. Still, what the hell.
Bad move. You don't know for sure what Obama's going to do until he actually gets into office. What he says during a campaign is different from the specifics of his true intentions, not to mention how conditions may be different come 1/20. Your step-father may've very well laid off people for nothing.
Watching in Glasgow, Scotland - drunk like most of Europe - and hoping this is the turning point. I hope all Americans realise how important this is to the entire world. There are people in Eritrea, Papua New Guinea, Shetland, bloody Antarctica, that are watching this and expecting America to take its rightful place as the leader of a planet that's desperate for a visionary to take control of the mess we're in.

I got the news that Obama took Ohio when I flipped to Faux news and heard it from Britt Hume & Karl Rove.
I must say, the irony was delicious!
BenAliGtor 3 years ago 2
Damnit I want to find the actual clip of whats-his-face calling it. Where he says "MSNBC news projects that Ohio goes to senator Barack Obama"
The tension I had during that sentence was incredible.
