  • What caliber of pistol did you shoot? What is the most commonly used pistol used in 3 gun matches? Great video. On the rifle what ranges were you shooting at?

  • @sailwed1 I'm shooting a .40 in this video, but now I use a 9mm which is the most popular caliber in 3-gun. Most pistols you see in 3-gun will be Glocks and 1911s. The Springfield XD and S&W M&P are commonly used as well.

Most of the rifle targets closer than 100yds at this match. The targets on Stage 11 were around the 200yd mark and the targets on Stage 6 were at 100, 200, 300, 400 and 480 yds.

  • Just getting into guns and friends starting telling me about this crazy thing called a '3 gun competition'. Who knew that I was missing out on a great sport/competition. Have the xd9 and looking at an LWRC M6A1 to start. Great job and keep posting good stuff. Hope to learn more about IDPA soon.

  • @ButteredBisquit Thanks, glad your friends gave you the heads up about the shooting sports!

  • Very nice gun range. Would love to shoot there nice.

  • Outstanding view. I'm just getting into IDPA and can't wait for the chance to do a few carbine matches (working weekends sucks!). Keep on keepin' on!

  • @SteveOIF25 Thanks and welcome to the sport!

  • I love Texas.

  • Surplus ammo or steel match?

  • @gotglock It was Federal 55gr that I had laying around. I wish I'd had some Hornady steel match - I will next time.

  • Those shotgun targets seem to vary a good bit in distance, what load are you using to maintain a consistent pattern?

  • @HumanRobotPunk Believe it or not, I'm using the cheap #7-1/2 Federal birdshot that they sell by the case at walmart. I left my Improved Cylinder choke in for the whole match and was surprised by its performance on the longer targets.

  • Is your shotgun a remington 1100 tactical? If so do you have problems feeding low brass?

  • @OHwrestlingIO Nope, I'm running a Mossberg 930. It eats everything :)

  • what gun at 02:33?

  • @MrMovienator At 2:33 was my AR15. If you meant 8:33 it was an AR15 with what I think was an M302 grenade launcher mounted on the bottom rail.

  • what kind of break are you running?

  • @EROD0420 It's a Miculek comp. I got mine from Brownells - I think they're selling in the $40 range.

  • Awesome shooting. I WANT to do this.

  • Cool vid, and cool stages! Near the beginning of the video, the Glock kept jamming. Was that because you were down loading (less powder) the ammo for less recoil? On the Oly AR, what optic? And it looks like your running a cattail to change magnification.

  • @TweakRacer Thanks. The Glock jammed because I put one too many rounds in the extended mags. I got them shortly before the match and hadn't fully tested them. The optic is a Burris Tac30 1-4x. It'a good scope for the price. The lever is similar to the cattail, but I think I got mine from MGM targets.

  • Id buy Crap if it had Larue's name on it, at least you know your buying good crap.

  • Nice shooting, what kind of AR and pistol?

  • @bigdave36832 Thanks. The AR is an Olympic Arms that I swapped a few parts on. The pistol is a Glock 35.

  • This is why I don't compete in this competitions try simulate combat tactics but yet you reload in the wide open...

  • @saucermonkey320 Maybe you should: you'd learn that no one is trying to "simulate combat tactics." It's just a competition. The objective is to make accurate hits as fast as you can - that's it. It is a GAME.

  • @1341usmc

Dynamic shooting in competition translates to real skills improved and learned. Translates to higher enabled cognitive aptitude in combat. Correlation doesn't always equate causation. But in competition, using gear you would use outside of competition will without a doubt improve your real-world shooting skills. That simple. That way when someone is shooting back at you you already have the shooting part down.

  • @saucermonkey320 You should probably try it instead of posting CoD videos on Youtube.

  • @Nater245689 please don't act like you know me. I had 3 deployments. I am a cop and I do competition. Dont make these comments personal. It's freaking YouTube.

  • @saucermonkey320 Sorry. I'm just used to snarky kids that don't shoot ripping into people that do...you know how it is.

  • @saucermonkey320 than don't make retarded comments like it's not simulating combat. If you compete you should know that no one is trying to simulate battle. fucking tool.

  • @saucermonkey320

Or, you can try IDPA, where you reload behind "cover". Or better yet, continue to not come out and compete, stay safe behind your compute and the internet, where you can continue being a Chairborne Ranger & TactiCool Mall Ninja.

  • nice view....

  • looks like way too much fun. thanx for the vid.

  • mossberg 930

  • 1100?

  • @excurrahee Mossberg 930 waterfowl with a Choate tube.

  • @1341usmc What kind of choke? Looked like it was doing a great job.

  • @excurrahee I was using the Improved Cylinder choke that came with the gun. This was actually my 3rd time ever shooting it, so I didn't really have a good grasp on what my pattern was. But, yeah it did do well on the longer shots I took with it.
