yu are right in saying the designs are different.. but kalashnikov got the main idea of the AK-47 from the mp-44... they do look roughly similar externally and they share the same purpose in battle.. since sturmgewer translates to "storm weapon" and shoots a round (7.92x33) that is very similar in ballistics to the 7.62x39 that the ak-47 shoots and both weapons were meant to be fired full auto at distances 300 yds and under

M16 is a better gun.

Its effective at both long and short range. It has a higher rate of fire and a lot more accurate.

Ak47's are really hard to build, M16 can be built with a few tools.

5.56x45 will be effected by the wind much more then say a heavier round like the 7.62x51. The 5.56x45 also has poor lethality at long range. So what if it has a hire rate of fire? Being able to spit out bullets faster dosen't always make it better. The M16's extra accuracy it has over the AK only matters in marksman competitions. In combat, the AK-47 is sufficently accurate.

Yeah AK47s suck compared to an M16, but the new model AKMs are decent. the Czech's VZ58 - looks like an AK and shoots the 7.62, but is much mucher higher in quality.

The thing with the AK system is that the ones built with the loose tolerances will be reliable but sacrifice accuracy. If you get a AKM or VZ58, the accuracy becomes much better. A Blackjack recoil buffer makes full auto more accurate. Using higher quality ammo than Wolf makes a difference too, but jacks up price.

The AK is actually semi-accurate if you take the time to our a good zero on it. At 200 yards I can keep my groups within a torso-sized target using 154 grn SP Wolf ammo.

The M16A2 and the versions afterwards are pretty reliable if kept clean. I have went for over 500 rds between cleanings with no problems with one; this along with very accurate results.

AK-47 is a simble of the world guns, i dont think its the best one but kalashnikov and russians are the best for firearms, m16 is more accurate over 300m range, ak is more powerfull bigger caliber and is much more universal that m16 u can only use it in wide open plains witht he m16 to be better....G36's (all versions) are a better alternative to the M's

what are you talking about the ak breaking, the ak rarly breaks it's because of that it gets the reputation of one of the most reliable guns in the world. The m16 might be more accurate than the ak but it is not nearly as reliable and powerful as the ak. If I got to chose which gun to use in a muddy environment I would definitely go with ak.

I don't understand the language, but I immediately can tell how politically biased this video is. For starters 90% of the AKs used in conflicts are foreign manufactured copies. If AK didn't exist then G3/FAL/M16 would get copied and used to kill people in Africa, Mid-East and all over the world! i own an egyptian AK47 and i can assemble it way faster than my friends M16A2, the AK47 parts come together with alot of ease and cna be done in a rush, the m16a2 is alot more difficult because the parts are more detailed in how to put them together

I'm not talking about field strip. Everything on an m16 is screwed together or held together with detent pins. The ak47 is held together by rivets. Riveting is not exactly easy or an expedient process. The barrel is also pinned on and it is nearly impossible to remove the barrel without a 1/2 ton press.

A milled AK reciever is made out of a single block of steel "carved" to shape, while an AKM has the necessary compnents riveted to a shaped pice of sheetmetal. The milled reciever is more rigid and heavy, while the stamped is cheaper and easier to manufacture.
