Just because someone FINDS the band because of a new song doesn't mean they aren't a real fan. I first heard them by Miss Murder and now my favorite CD of the seven is BSITS, not DU, and I am now DF. It has nothing to do with WHEN you found them or HOW. All that matters is your love for the band.

it's blunt fact that some fans are a bit more hardcore into afi than others, yeah. you can't dance around that. but if you like afi, you are a fan. and i kind of agree with other people a little too. if you saw one of their recent videos and went "omg this is my new fave band" and that's all she wrote, i dont particularly consider you a fan of the band, just a fan of the song. but if you have at least looked into them in any measure and liked them, you're a fan.
