lettuce need light to grow. sowing them outside will make their stems very short and they wont fall over. last year they failed but this year i gave them light outside and they are looking pretty healthy and big so far =)
Bye the way, don't forget to take either a Q-tip or a feather to cross pollinate after the flowering veggies flower... Just rub them real lightly , one to another for a few days when each one is finished flowering...

you are over watering them . let the soil dry out until the pots feel light and then drench them . not until they dry out though !

lettus doesnt like alot of light it does well in shade.
